First randoms of December! I started feeling lousy last night with DD1s cold and then before bed my period started. I can't wait until bedtime tonight. 😕

klw I hope you feel better and quick! My fever is gone but my body is tired. I’m pushing through though. I’m pushing out a new application tomorrow and then going to a conference on Wednesday where people will use it. Yikes!

Happy belated birthday PennyCandy! I'm glad you had a good day-you deserve it! Sorry you don't feel well kam3100 and klw. H has been sick with a cold for over a week now. Apparently today he started having a coughing fit when someone from the office called him over the intercom. They told him they would find a sub for tomorrow since he sounded so bad. Except these fits are super sporadic and there's no reason for him to stay home. I told him he better not complain about missing a bunch of days if one of the kids is sick between now and Christmas.

klw and kam3100, hope you both are feeling 100% soon! doublestuf, DD has had that cough on and off for a few weeks now. She’s not really sick but her nose is draining into her throat and irritating it. Hope your H’s cough is gone soon. We’re getting back into our routine here after a week off. Our actual Thanksgiving was good but our mountain trip afterwards got cancelled due to weather. It was probably for the best because I wound up in the ER on Saturday anyway. I had a sudden pain come on quickly and I couldn’t stand up. It wound up being an ovarian cyst but it was so painful.

Thanks for the well wishes. I still feel crappy, but I was just up with Haley for an hour. She has a fever of 102. I sent an email to my boss that I was not able to come to work today. Hopefully my sub request gets picked up.

Sorry klw I hope she is on the mend. @bananas ouch! I’m so sorry. Sigh, my five year olds behavior is completely out of hand. She has been lying to me so much. I finally was able to get her to confess that she has been lying about eating her lunch at school. When I tried to explain to her that when she lies it hurts my heart, she laughed at me. She was lying about eating her lunch so she can have candy at home. So I took away her candy. She had a total meltdown. It was like a demon entered her body. She screamed at me that I was stupid. She hit me and screamed at me. She was out of control until DH stepped in. Luckily I have a therapy appointment today. I just don’t feel like this is normal behavior, but I really have no clue. Ugh! Kids are so hard.

Ugh. I'm sorry kam3100. Kids are hard. DS has a lot of energy and trouble listening at times. I've found he has a lot more attitude these days as well. He's pulled a few "I'm never coming back down!" (his room is upstairs) on us these last few weeks. He was being disciplined for issues with not listening. Ha. I wish kids came with a manual.

I have been MIA this past week or so. I'm stressed and overwhelmed. I threw my hat in for the new position I mentioned last week and am having some anxiety about it. I think it'll be fine but I'm not the best with change.
We were also traveling quite a bit back and forth from my in-laws for Thanksgiving. Also, I now have to start planning DS's birthday party that is now only about a month away. I don't tend to enjoy this time of year.

Oh, and DD is moving into the toddler room. I'm so sad. No more being babied and they really push them to build their independence. I know that's a good thing, but I want to hold on to my baby for just a bit longer ðŸ˜

When will you find out about the job?

klw - I think I’ll know a little more by the end of the week. They posted it to my team internally. If no one else applies, I won’t have to go through the interview process and can start figuring out transition details. FX no one else does!

H seems to be OK. Low grade fever earlier, but some odd color loose BMs. Didn't eat alot today. I'm thinking hers is more teeth related. Still waiting on the molars to come through...

Hope everyone feels better soon!
I think L is starting to enter the strong-willed/daring stage of toddlerhood. He is now climbing on everything and is getting super stubborn about things like teeth brushing and getting dressed. He had been so chill and laid back. Not anymore! Definitely keeping us on our toes now.

I'm sorry kam3100. With that particular example you gave, I'm not too surprised she lied. It's something she really wants, and it's so easy to lie and not be caught because she can throw things away. Maybe sit down together and come up with something new to tie that treat to? Something that is objective and is an area she could use some work on at home. I am not great with meltdowns but I try to remember that they're just a lot of big emotions coming out. If the meltdowns are happening a lot, you might could try to teach her a replacement behavior during times when she is calm. "It's never okay to hit/kick anyone when you are angry, but you can ...." Maybe get her a stress ball or make one of those calm down glitter bottle things? Role play getting angry and then using the appropriate replacement behavior. She could even play you the first time so you could really model it well. I know that's a lot of work. Kids, man. Sucking all the time and energy out of us.

@doublestuff thank you. That’s an interesting book!
I spoke to my therapist and he assured me that my daughter isn’t a psychopath. He offered some tips and I’m going to try them.
I think we are on the right track. I know I shouldn’t have offered up Halloween candy as a reward, but she was eating vegetables without argument so I pushed it to lunch too.
In other news, the software application that was supposed to deploy today failed. So I’m going out of town to a workshop tomorrow where people were supposed to use it, but they will instead fill out a form. This week can go to hell.

kam3100, kids are hard. There are (lots of) days with my 6 year old that I have no clue what I’m doing. I do remember looking up strategies to deal with lying when he was five, though, and one thing that stuck out to me was that lying is developmentally normally and it shows that they are beginning to see things from others’ perspectives (why they are lying). Still hard to deal with but at least it’s normal? And in regards to the hitting, my son used to do that when he was angry and we practiced deep breathing and counting to ten. It took a lot of practice but he’s gotten better.

I worry I am fucking my kids up on a daily basis, especially J. I'm sure once we really get into the tantrums and stuff with Z, I will worry about him too.
I got this ridiculous fire truck (paw patrol ultimate fire truck) to try to motivate J to use the potty. So far it's not working. He's had accidents every day since I brought it home including a poop and then pee accident at their pulmonology appointments at Children's Hospital the other day. This kid is going to go to kindergarten in pull ups at this rate.
Our anniversary was on Monday and it was just another day. We are taking Friday off to celebrate though and I think heading to the jewelry store to get my mother's ring for Z.

C is getting better at walking and taking more steps on his own. It's so cute and I'm glad he is finally getting there.
