Today was a really shitty day. I feel like I'm failing at parenting the boys. What happened? Just every single bad thing they're not allowed to do- they did. Repeatedly. Bothering MJ, waking her up, throwing toys, stepping on toys, hitting each other, Kicking each other, throwing books, jumping on the couch, running through the house, picking on the dog, not cleaning up, jumping off the top bunk. The list goes on and on. We've taken their tablets and the toy room is locked indefinitely. And sent them to bed early.

Woohoo mwhip ! I would have a hard time hoping for a leak to be found when it's 5 degrees out...BRRR. I don't remember getting those temps when we lived in your area until December--not ok! The pics of the snow you posted were so pretty wineallthetime . Please do not send it here, but it does look very festive. (also, random memory, our neighbors in KS were the best and always cleared our driveway and walk with their snowblower...they knew we were from down south and were utterly unprepared, lol).

Full day here. We had a nice time up in W'burg and saw Santa...he was lovely and spent lots of time with the kids, sang C Happy Bday, etc. B always takes great Santa pics; C didn't cry this year but sat on the edge of the chair with a very skeptical, not delightful expression. I snapped a couple pics myself but didn't buy any (sorry, kids).
Came back home, made a Dillards run, opened gifts, then did cake after dinner. Both kids were asleep within seconds of their heads hitting their pillows.
Sidenote: I saw a family had brought a big hardback picture book for Santa to "read" during their pics; what a great idea, it made for some really sweet photos. Next year..!

Some days kids are jerks. It doesn’t mean you are failing at parenting. Take some time to yourself tonight and hopefully you all get good rest so you can start fresh in the morning.

I'm sorry, peachsmama. I've had those days. Sounds like you are throwing down the discipline and hopefully it resets the behavior..

I submitted a request for approval of my 30 post graduate credits today and I got it back approved already. I have to pick which class to do first but I start tomorrow. I have convinced my friend I have lunch with to do it with me.

My mom's dog is dying. She will probably go tonight. She's a 12 year old blind shitzu with a bad heart. My mom is just keeping her comfortable and she'll probably go in her sleep tonight. She started out as my gma's dog and then she gave her to my mom when she was still a puppy. It sucks.

It worked! I just sent a text to our HR manager for an update and she said to work from home tomorrow. Her assistant is working on sending the text to all employees letting us know not to come in. They have doubts it will even be fixed tomorrow. A small building nearby exploded this weekend from a gas leak. No one was hurt but not to be messed with. And then it probably won't heat up in time for employees tomorrow either. Fx yh doesn't dive you crazy and cooks for you all week

tgrimes oh no! Seriously the universe needs to get it together for you! @peachsmamw you’re not failing! It sounds stupid, but when I’m in a negative cycle, I’ll try to do something fun just to break out of it, water balloon fight, make a small sundea, bring out the paint gear, go to a play area etc. It helps a lot most times. klong11 I’m sorry about your mom’s dog.

It must not have been a bad leak since we were there all day with it happening and the gas on. Maybe because of the size and openness of the building, there wasnt concern for an explosion. I didnt realize the fire dept had come out in the AM, but I did see a gas company truck come in when I left for lunch, so they knew about the leak all day and allowed us to stay. There was also a huge concern for water lines bursting, its 8 right now, real feel -3. They had a plumbing company coming out after I left yesterday as well.

wineallthetime, I don't know what I would do if it snowed. Cadence would be screwed, she only has like 2 long sleeve shirts and she refuses to wear them because she hates sleeves. And jackets. When you live in Michigan you don't have the option to hate long sleeves and jackets lol. It's so much extra stuff to pack though. He's wearing snow boots, a hat and winter coat and I packed his regular shoes, snow pants and gloves. It’s pretty much the same in NY/CT, the amount I’d luggage I had to bring for 3 days away was akin to a week of summer clothes. There is no easy way to make fleeces and sweatshirts less bulky!

I'm so sorry klong11, that's never easy. peachsmama you described almost everyday at our house, aside from clearly not having a baby to pester. Don't blame yourself and don't think they are bad kids. They are just KIDS, tons of energy to burn included.

Well, Molly(my mom's dog) made it through the night, but she is taking her to the vet today. I let Cadence know this morning and she said we could visit her and take her flowers like we do Grandpa, but that we would need to know where she gets buried. She's getting cremated, but I didn't tell her that part. So I told her maybe we could paint a special rock for Grandma's fairy garden and that's were we can put the flowers. She wants to paint a picture of Molly on the rock. So, yeah. I'm sure her entire class will go home today talking about death.
