Morning.
I have nothing planned today. I need to get in gear to do some things around the house. I want to paint the master since I have the paint for it, but it will be a big job to do our room and bathroom. I work mid week, so I’m not sure if I want to start if there is a chance I can’t finish.
Also need to meal plan so I can go to the grocery store.

Morning friends!
Julia’s dinner party was a success on Friday, and B’s party was awesome yesterday. It was at the science centre, they did 3 experiments with them with the last being liquid nitrogen ice cream, had pizza and cupcakes then i let the kids run in a play area there for the last 45 min. I made the decision to not open presents at the party and it was the right one, they got to run and play longer and all had a blast. He’s got a really great group of friends. He opened his gifts when we got home and I putzed around the house while Baba built toys and had bey blades battles, LOL.
After they went down I had to shovel again even though my neighbours did it during the day, so much snow. My one neighbour came over and was concerned that MH was deployed early and made sure to tell me that if I needed anything he’s here to help. I love my neighbourhood ❤️

Got breakfast smoothies, checked in on my friend's cat because she's out of town, and then went grocery shopping. We'll leave in a bit to go watch some violin solo performances from the school Cadence might be going to for lessons. I want her to see what it might actually entail. I was hoping to sit in on a lesson, but those are scheduled for Thursdays and Cadence has dance.

C finally finished filling his marble jar today. It’s took about five months to fill the 16oz jar with regular sized marbles. For his prize he gets $50 to do whatever with. He is saving it to buy whatever Santa doesn’t bring for Christmas. He was so proud and says he wants to do it again.
I highly recommend it. Using the jar we have got him to wipe his own butt, not bother us in the morning when he gets up super early, and put his toys away consistently. He only lost marbles a couple of times and was devastated and worked hard to earn them back. I had my doubts but it really worked for him.

I'm sure you've said it before, but could you tell me a little about this marble thing? Sounds like something that might motivate Layla.

Lazy day here, watching the Chiefs game and making chili. Layla was grounded yesterday and lucky for me her friends kept coming by to see if she could play. It was good reinforcement of why she needs to behave appropriately. She was not a happy camper. Sorry not sorry kiddo.
Today she's outside playing with friends and in a few I'm taking her over to a friend's from her old school that wanted a play date.
Looking forward to tomorrow, I'm off so Tim and I are having a day date and purging toys to get the basement more useable and less anxiety producing.

Back from the violin recital. It was really interesting to get to see all the different levels. Mh dropped me off at the house and took Cadence to the park. I'm now working on laundry and dinner.

My favorite aunt and mom are coming tomorrow - Thursday since mh has a work trip, I hope we have fun and I am not driven insane by my mom..

He only lost marbles a couple of times and was devastated and worked hard to earn them back. I had my doubts but it really worked for him. I'm sure you've said it before, but could you tell me a little about this marble thing? Sounds like something that might motivate Layla. It was suggested by my therapist who also does family therapy. Basically he would earn marbles for behaviors we wanted to reinforce and lose for ones that were not good behaviors. We did it overall, with things like giving marbles when he was kind or did something extra without being asked. Then we would pick a few things we wanted to focus on and he would earn marbles for doing those things. When we first started I was having trouble getting him to get dressed in the morning. So I told him he could earn four marbles each time he got dressed without a fight. He started dressing himself without us asking most of the time. On the few occasions he resisted a reminder that he would lose marbles or even getting the jar and opening it was enough to get him moving. As time went on we would move to other things and no longer give marbles for the things that were now routine. I also had no system for what earned more except what I considered a higher value. Going up for a bath when asked earns more marbles than putting his dishes in the sink. We also did it as a family so dh and I had jars. We would all award each other marbles and take them away as we deemed fit. C would try take ours away for ridiculous things sometimes but whatever. We weren’t the ones trying to earn them. It’s similar to the Pom Pom jar. C liked picking out the colors with the marbles and seeing them in the jar. I used a large jar and was planning to stop halfway since it was so big but he was still motivated so I kept it going with a bigger payout at the end. I think other kids might do better with a smaller jar and more frequent smaller rewards. A rewards chart didn’t do it for him and I’m not sure why this was better. He is very money motivated and the idea of $50 was very enticing. He also liked policing us as well.

We're at the skating rink. There's a white dude here with super long dreads that he has fashioned into what looks like a turban. Double points for cultural appropriation.

I'm pretty sure this age, is the most annoying, by far. She doesnt shut up and is generally just annoying AF. When I left to run this morning, I told H if he killed her while I was gone, I'd help him bury the body later.
I have no idea how you moms with multiples are remotely sane.

We started coming an egg carton last weekend for behavior. Split it into 6 good days and 6 bad days. He hit 6 God days last week and chose $3 to spend at the store from the 5 choices. Then he's had 1 good and 2 bad since. If he gets 6 God days the bad reset. After a bad fatty he was dwelling on "never being good again" do this has immediately helped that part of the reaction. The egg carton and stickers happen to be what we had that he could help make. Fx we survive tomorrow with a good day since we will be stuck inside with a winter storm

My pelvis has already given up on staying together. This doesn’t bode well for the next 9 months. It does not feel good to roll over in bed and feel all the bones rub on each other.
After I got home from work I took a super long nap so I’m going to be up half the night.

I also can’t sleep. Apparently in my safe little suburban town some kid posted on his social media that he was going to shoot up the high school. I am freaking the fuck out. All my info is from social media but it seems that other kids saw it and told their parents, who reported it to the police.
Like, what the fuck. What is this fucking world we live in

As far as annoying kids, Cass' behavior is usually pretty good over all, she's been a demon honey badger off and on lately. I couldn't figure out what's up with her. Then it dawned on me--her birthday is approaching. I've always found their behavior to be awful the weeks surrounding their birthdays. This year with Maddie turning 8 was the first year she wasn't a turd.
I was not pleased when I realized they have tomorrow off from school.

Thanks guys. The superintendent released a statement that it was not a credible threat but Facebook is blowing up about this. I did send S to school but I’m tense and checking Facebook every 2 seconds. Apparently this same kid made a threat on the middle school last year.
