pootsen happy birthday to C! cakewench we still use a monitor for DS1 who is 5. It’s mostly out of convenience because our bedrooms are on opposite sides and I wouldn’t be able to hear him and I like talking to him through it and he likes being able to talk to us too lol. I’m not sure when we’ll stop using it....certainly if he asks us to we will.

I had a great day off with C for his birthday. We actually didn’t end up doing anything, just stayed at home and played with his new toys. It was so nice to have some one-on-one time with him. cakewench I think we stopped the monitor around age 3 with Ds1 but only because it stopped working, his room was right next to ours, and he was coming into bed with us every night anyway (still does...), so we didn’t get a new one until C was born. We still have a crib for C. He can climb in and out of it but actually just stays in it when it’s time for nap or bed and waits for us to come get him after he wakes up and cries/talks/whines. So we still need a monitor for him.

Happy 2nd birthday C pootsen , Happy 2nd birthday L spacecadet We used a monitor for N until he was 5 cakewench. It was for my piece of mind. I could've stopped at 3 when we moved him into his big bed. But one night we didn't have the monitor on and he threw up in bed. He fell back to sleep so we didn't know he did that until I went to bed and I checked on him. So we used the monitor longer so that if something like that had happened to him we would know it or he was old enough to get out of bed and tell us.

I think we used the monitor until around 3.5 with DS1. The kid's bedrooms are on the other side of the house and we can't always hear them and when we first moved DS1 to a twin bed, I don't think he realized that he could get out on his own lol so we still had to get him. We would have used it longer probably but needed it for when L moved to the crib.

Send some good vibes for us. We just started the baked milk challenge to see if ds2 is outgrowing his dairy allergy.

If we are still talking about monitors...DS1 is 4 and we still use one. I have no doubt we will continue for a while still. He isn't allowed out of his room at night so we need to be able to see/communicate. Once he is trustworthy enough not to have a child safety doorknob and come to us if he needs something, we will stop. But I don't think that will be any time soon. He doesn't usually wake to potty or anything at night and on the off chance he does, he just hollers for us to come help.

Hi!! Happy bday to all the babes!!
I had a trip home last weekend and back at work now. It snowed the night before we returned. Quick trip and the last time DS could fly free, so it was a lot with him on our laps.
Today is my DD’s bday (4). It goes so fast!

Happy Birthday to all the 2s!!! Can't believe it's happening already! We took N for his flu shot this weekend and he handled it like a champ. He's been seriously wailing at bedtime lately though - there's nothing obviously wrong (no temp, dirty diaper, injury, etc), so I don't know if this is just normal toddler stuff or maybe a reaction to the shot (she did say he might be a little extra grumpy). DC is closed today but luckily H was off (I'm not), so they're having some daddy-son bonding time. Question for all of you, especially ones with older children - when did you stop using a monitor? The video feed on ours isn't the best now that his mattress is all the way down (it's supposed to have night vision but it was never that great). Our house isn't that big so hearing him usually isn't an issue, so I don't know if there's any point in trying to replace it, or if we should just cut the cord sooner rather than later. Late but we stopped with our first after DS was born since she moved into her new room and he took the nursery. Ours has been on the fritz the last 6 mo and haven’t used it much. we turned it off for our vacation last month and haven’t turned it back on. I see I’m alone on the island with being really early though. 😬

I don't really watch it. I can hear them from pretty much anywhere in the house or they just get out of bed and come find us 🤷🏻♀️ I probably wouldn't even noticed if it died, lol.

We only ever had an audio monitor with DD1, and it actually still in her room (she is 5.75). We don't usually need it, but sometimes she has nightmares and it is useful because her room is on the other side of the house.

I never updated you guys on our Disneyland trip. It was GREAT. C did so well. Waiting in line was the hardest part, but fast passes and the app that told us wait times were super helpful. She loved the rides. "More ride!" And her face at the Frozen show was just amazing. She was so enthralled. It was totally worth it and I can't wait to go again!
But now I am back to the grind, which includes a lot of solo parenting this week and next. H went OOT on Wednesday and returns late tonight. I work tomorrow, and then Sunday we have family pictures and I have to prepare for another full week of solo parenting when H got OOT again on Monday. It's been exhausting, but fortunately work hasn't been too bad. I can't believe we are halfway through November.

DH is up north hunting again for the weekend and I have to work tomorrow and Sunday. Blah. The boys and I had dinner with my parents and then we watched that Christmas movie on Netflix with Kristin Davis and Rob Lowe. It was as cheesy as expected but the baby elephants were so cute.

Is tour DH hunting white tail? What season is open there? My brother took off the whole week before we were in IA to hunt. He’s ridiculous but filled two tags. I think it was only archery when he was telling me.

MH has been gone Thursday through Sunday for the last 4 weeks- except for C’s party. One of the guys in their group got a big 8 pointer but MH has hardly seen anything which is frustrating.

My brother is the only one in my family that really hunts bow on the regular. They all hunt muzzleloader. My brother maxes out his tags every year and is obsessed. He usually only processes 2-3 for himself and then gives the rest to friends and donates to the food bank. I couldn’t believe he was sitting in the tree stand the few 15 degree mornings when we were back home. To each their own! Ha Sorry your DH hasn’t seen much. That is extra tough when he has to travel to hunt and sees nothing.

We have found so many new Frozen things for DD2, haha. There are some Lego Frozen videos which aren't the greatest, but held her attention.

We've only watched the mandalorian on Disney+ so far. I think DH and DD might have watched some Mickey mouse clubhouse.
We're just on our way home from my sister's, DD and I. I'm exhausted because DD wouldn't go to bed until I slept with her. It's annoying I didn't get any one on one time with my sister. And also I felt sick at dinner time so that was annoying too! Had a good trip to Ikea though and DD has been 100% on her potty training this weekend 😮
