Desperate to find a sporting event where he will not be boo'ed, looks like Trump is planning to attend the Alabama/LSU game: As a lifelong LSU fan, I’m going to assume this is all Alabama’s fault as per. I'm a lifelong Alabama fan but I agree with you. I am so pissed about this. I am pissed that he is such a baby and is so obviously doing this because he expects to get a positive response. And I'm super pissed because it's probably going to work. I'm just glad I already wasn't planning to go (my brother and SIL will be there). That game was already going to be nuts and now add in whatever extra security? Plus then you have to be near Donald Trump? Nooooooo thank you.

Omg...I have the biggest crush on him just from listening to PSA. So jealous! It's fine. I'm fine. I'm just going to go find a fluffy blanket to die under. Just wanted to check on you. You still breathing and back to earth yet?

We're in the process of switching from paper to digital and the NY times is the one paper faculty voted to keep. This kind of censorship has me breathing into a paper bag.

Voter #21. We voted for city council, school board, and a yes/no for city organized garbage collection (the hottest topic on the ballot). Pdq

I finally got around to ordering Ijeoma Oluo’s book So You Want to Talk About Race. It’s so good so far. I appreciated her forward talking about how she should have done more to reach out to indigenous folx to avoid blunders in those chapters and really owning that. And just overall having great ideas for approaching our own privilege and biases. I’m highlighting away to find areas that I can bring up the topic of race with my kids in a more productive way. Especially after DD1 declared, “I’m so glad we aren’t racist!” And I cringed. Hard. And realized I have so much work to do. I appreciate her spirit but woof.

This is apropos of nothing, but my Discover Weekly on Spotify has a song called "Impeach the President" for this week's list. I am tickled trying to figure out how that came up.

Right now I'm reading "They Were Her Property," which about the role of white women in slavery. It's eye opening.

Maybe I'll find it and toss it on my running list. I really AJR's Burn The House Down when I need to some political motivation to keep hanging in during this shitstorm.

One lady when asked if there was anything the president could do that would cause her not to vote for him inc shooting someone and she said nope would still vote. Also every prez leverages $ for political dirt

Oh my God. Fox complains about "political correctness" meetings during the Obama admin... except in this context PC actually stands for "principles committee", a group that advises the President.

I like to say that nothing surprises me anymore, but then every day a new level of stupid emerges and here I am, shaking my head saying WTF.
Also, hey! I just kinda jumped in slowly over the last week or 2. I'm enjoying this little section of the board and thank you all for your insights! I love in a purple county in Iowa, near some blue cities but surrounded by red cornfields.

A BroLite on my feed shared an article about how non-voters gave Trump the election. And he said something about how it's not Bernie's supporters' fault that Clinton was such an unappealing candidate. I had to just hide the post and move on. It's been years and after all this shit, how is this still the narrative? You didn't want Clinton to be the nominee, well she was. Stop throwing a damn tantrum. Just gearing up to throw another tantrum next year, I suppose.

Welcome kittyforman. I always like a new IA person in the mix! I think you might live just north-ish of me, when I was paying attention to something you said about seeing Warren, I think. I live in DSM, moving to WDSM this weekend.
