So remember MH had to cancel his time off because of work. But he is supposed to get off at 2 today (company policy) but IT made him stop so they could update his computer. It's been 30 minutes and he has no idea how long it will take. And he won't ask. So he is just sitting around until they are done and then he has to stay to finish his work.
His job is annoying but his unwillingness to ask is frustrating me. Like what if they have him shut down for hours? He has no idea. Meanwhile we have a lot of shit to do at home.
I really hate his job sometimes. I know some of you have Hs who are gone a lot so I know it could be tougher. Needed to vent tho. They always do this to him, so I expect him home at whatever time and maybe 30% of the time he actually makes it. It makes the end of the day and trying to prepare dinner really, really challenging.

That would drive me insane starbuck. If he is supposed to be off at a certain time, then he should be off at that time. Is he on salary or does he at least get good overtime pay?

starbuck, that's so frustrating. I remember it was always impossible for my dad to get off at a certain time. Something always came up and he ended up being at work way longer than planned. If he needed to be off early for some reason he would have to take the entire day off. I know it was a pretty big issue with my mom. IIRC, he's looking for something New? I hope he finds it soon!

The problem now is that he is a department of one, with a few freelancers working for him to manage the load. They are all on vacation this week (and they were most o last week too), meaning he is the only one doing anything right now. I expect that he'll be an hour or two late leaving every night this week. But we were hoping he could at least leave today when he's supposed to given that most people are out.

starbuck, could he have asked that IT do it after he was done for the day? I don't understand how if he is supposed to be off by 2 today because of company policy, how can they make him stay? I would site company policy.

I would site company policy. The thing is that his projects are promised to clients. The account managers make whatever promises and dump on him (usually the day before holiday leave they smack him an hour or less before end time and then walk away). He doesn't think he can say no. So this IT delay is on top of that. I dunno why he didn't ask them to delay, probably they are trying to get out at 2 as well. He has to stay until the work is done.

Mandated to work tomorrow, there goes our 4th of July plans. Just found out he's mandated to work the day we come home from vacation, he's trying to find a trade, but it looks like we might need to come home a day early which sucks because it's only a 2 night quick vacation to begin with. H always talks about wanting to start traditions with our family, but not sure that's possible with his schedule. Thankfully my parents go to a party with so many people, they don't notice if extras show up. So we will just head there and my parents can help watch the kids. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

waitwhat first of all, Happy Birthday! Enjoy ALL the drinks! Secondly, the museum was awesome! We were there for at least 4 hours. They were different areas that worked for each of the kids. Thank you very much for he recommendations! Lastly, I think you could get away without headphones. But you might need to just hold him against your body or put your hands over his ears. starbuck damn! Are all the kids healthy? danib enjoy your day! Also, I feel bad that everything over there just collapsed. Even if it is at her hands.

I'm at the nail place with a sweet tea from Dunkin' waiting to have my toes done, so I can catch up on all I've missed! Excuse any belated LT's We got back from Maine on Friday; this weekend was super busy playing catch-up, but we should have a bit of downtime the next couple days. DH is off for the entire month (excess vacation time he needed to use or lose, plus time off for the move). We might drive each other nuts but until then, it's super nice having him around to tag-team with. We had a 'milestone' photo session done of C this morning and I'm so excited to see how they'll turn out. The photographer said she'd send a sneak peek this week. Already stalking my email and the session finished at noon, ha.

D and I just woke up from a really nice nap. She was completely exhausted from the beach and skipping her morning nap.
TIL that my 7 month old is not afraid of water at all! She went in the ocean for the first time and had the biggest smile! Total opposite of 6 month old DS two summers ago who was having none of it. I also took her in the outdoor shower with me after the beach and she was again just smiling away. So cute!

Oh tgrimes that's awful. So funniest thing happened during supper this evening. As I was feeding H, I noticed a piece if chicken was a little big. So I picked it up on his fork and put it to my mouth to bite in half. H watched and started crying. Like break your heart crying. I say to DH "I think he's crying because he thinks I'm eating his food". So we decide to test it out. Calmed him down. (I could eat my own food with my fork and he didn't care). Picked up a piece with his fork, put it to my mouth, he turns blood red from crying so hard. Ok so it doesn't sound funny that I made my kid cry. But the situation was hilarious.

Let see. I'm 3 beers, 1 Moscow mule, and 1 glass of wine deep. I just had the most amazing steak and shrimp dinner and DH is doing dishes. Im putting my cherub to bed and I'll have many drinks waiting for me after. I also have cupcakes, ice cream, and cookie cake to eat. And fireworks in my neighborhood start at dusk. Best. Day. Ever. For you non-facebookers (ahem, tgrimes)Here's my mom and I. We are pretty much bffs. PDQ *poof*

waitwhat Happy birthday!!! I hope you're drinking away and enjoying the day! kleigh Both girls go through phases of preferring me or DH. Lilah's is less pronounced, but Lillian has full blown switches. Like she tells me to go away and screams for daddy for a while and then she'll be kind of equal for a while and then she just wants me. Ugh starbuck. That sounds extremely frustrating. dashook My girls are opposites in the water, too. Lillian loves water and swimming. Lilah is not too thrilled with it. She still barely tolerates baths. Oh man tgrimes, I'm sorry. danib Lilah does that, too! But she does it for all food. She cries if I take a bite of my food in between feeding her bites or if she runs out of food. She has this demanding noise she makes while she's waiting for food. And she screams if we take anything away from her. It's hilarious. Lillian hates it because Lilah goes after her food, too.

hangry that's a good question. They are picking up the contents of our storage unit on the 19th; we won't know until that day the driver's ETA in Virginia. We're hoping he'll want to go directly there but contractually they have 3 weeks to get us our stuff so it could be later. Grrr. We are trying to stay here til the last minute because I have less than zero interest in camping out in an empty house or living in a hotel with two littles while we wait for our delivery.

We went to the park for entirely too long this morning. Texas is too hot for the park unless it's a splash park. Lillian did great with her potty training today. We had a poop success and she has started going pee on her own without prompting!
We are dropping her off at my mom's for the night. In the morning she is going to take Lillian to a pancake breakfast while we go out to a 5k at the lake. We're excited to watch Suicide Squad and eat chinese tonight!
