Every time I see or read about California I cry. My heart is with everyone in that beautiful, amazing state. Stay safe.

Is this where I admit I don’t know what TikTok is?? ha, me either until I read this- www.newyorker.com/magazine/2019/09/30/how-tiktok-holds-our-attention, and I was like oh, I don't think this is for me (meaning, I think I'm too old for it). I have started noticing kids making them outside and on the train though-- at least that is what I think they are doing.

The Castro Bros TikTok is amazing. Is it sad I recognized National in the first frame because of the flooring?

It's just too much. It’s awful. I just started seeing the Fb checkins from the Getty fire. I know we have some SoCal ladies here - how are you all doing?

I always get so worried for everyone that has to evacuate with so little notice, especially those with pets that are unable to grab them before they go. The devastation to all of these areas just breaks my heart.

I know we have some SoCal ladies here - how are you all doing? I'm down in Orange County so far from the fire near the Getty, though there have been several fires burning around our area. Nothing threatening to our location, at least not at this moment, but it's going to stay windy and get warmer again for the next few days. Even si, it's hazy and the air quality is rated "low". It's so difficult to see large swaths of communities threatened every single year.

It's just too much. LT for support. It is overwhelming and I’m not in fire danger. I have to limit my intake of news coverage because it’s so horrific. And there are so many people impacted either through fires or power shut offs. Thinking of everyone tonight - this is supposed to be the worst of the wind. Although I can’t imagine it getting much worse.

Last night I talked to my brother who is in LA but not directly in the affected area. He said it wasn't that smokey where he was - so his assessment was better than the Malibu one last year when they all stayed inside. His BIL in Brentwood hadn't left yet but were at home waiting to see what happened, which everyone wasn't loving as a decision. Traffic is a disaster and no one is at work since the 405 is closed. I haven't been able to find a whole lot of updates today, whereas yesterday it was everywhere. The LAtimes took down its paywall for coverage.
We are supposed to be going out there on Friday...

The air quality is shit and I’ve been taking the train because it’s spare the air days but even on my short walk to the train I’m feeling it. I have asthma so it’s not great for me to be outside at all.

One of our friends in Sebastapol posted a picture of himself in a gas mask with two six packs...Apocalypse IPA and Panic IPA...the backdrop of the smoke was appropriate. ETA: and the levity in a shitty situation was appreciated.

You can order cloth ones with removable filters (which is what we have stocked in our bug out kit).

I have asthma so it’s not great for me to be outside at all. I hope you can get a mask to wear. I didn’t last year because I only had to be outside for short periods (like, 5 min at a time), but I’m convinced it effed up my respiratory system. I got so sick in the months afterwards, including painful laryngitis (which I’d never had before ever) and strep throat that required 2 rounds of antibiotics to kill. Anecdotal, but I know a lot of other folks in fire areas who got really sick. ☹️

I wasn’t going to get one because I keep reading that they aren’t really that effective and you have to put it on 100% correctly for it to do anything. But, now I’m rethinking. I’ve been only going outside for maybe 30 minutes per day tops.

This is really serious Rising Seas Will Erase More Cities by 2050, New Research Shows nyti.ms/2NkOqOQFAKE NEWS but seriously, I don't know how such a large portion of the population can't admit that we have a climate crisis. At least parts of our government take it seriously.
