I figure we can start getting to know each other by having GTKY threads and other randoms.
What are you doing for halloween?
Are you dressing up?
Do you have kids that are dressing up?
Any unique traditions?

On Halloween night I have to work so DH will be taking my girls out TOTing. My 5yo is going as Jasmine and 3yo as Elsa from Frozen 2.
Friday following Halloween we got invited to a friend's party. He said kids are welcome to come. We will probably only go for a few hours. I am dressing up as the Cheshire cat and DH as the white rabbit. On Saturday is the big party that I'll probably have to out myself to my friends at because I usually get pretty rowdy. My niece is babysitting the girls at our house and spending the night so we will be able to stay out however late we want.

trtlcrzy, sounds like a fun party! My kids are being characters from How to Train Your Dragon - DD is Light Fury, DS1 is Hiccup (the boy) and DS2 is Toothless the dragon. DS1 came up with the theme. DH and I won’t dress up this year. Last year the whole family was The Incredibles but DH and I aren’t super big on dressing up unless it really goes with the kids’ theme. I’ll take the kids to my office in costume on Monday for an event, and then we’ll go to a neighborhood party before trick or treating. I have great memories of Halloween parades at school when I was a kid, but my older kids are on a 2-week fall break right now every year over Halloween.

The boys are dressing up as Pikachu and Charmander, and DH and I are dressing up as Team Rocket. We really like dressing up and usually have a lot of fun with it. DS2's birthday is actually on Halloween, so we usually have a dress-up birthday party/supper sometime around Halloween (this year it will be on Friday).

What are you doing for halloween? Going to a friends house and trick or treating down town.
Are you dressing up? No
Do you have kids that are dressing up? Yes. DS1 is dressing as the Far From Home Spider-Man and DS2 is dressing as the Into the Spiderverse Miles Morales Spider-Man.
Any unique traditions? Nope

What are you doing for halloween? DS will be ToTing with a friend (both 7) from our neighborhood and their twin 4-y/o siblings.
Are you dressing up? no, I typically don't
Do you have kids that are dressing up? DS has a Hulk costume but I think he wants to recycle spiderman from last year, so who knows what he will be!
Any unique traditions? not really, DS hasn't been all that into Halloween so far

What are you doing for halloween? We are handing out candy at our house then going to the Halloween parade in our town. My kids enjoy handing out candy more than ToTing.
We go to MILs neighborhood the Friday after Halloween ToTing and it’s a lot of our friends and their kids. Then we all go back to one friends house and the adults drink. Luckily I don’t drink usually so no one will be suspicious.
Are you dressing up? I am. I have a prisoner costume because DS is going as a police officer and wanted me to be his prisoner.
Do you have kids that are dressing up? DD1 is going as a witch. DS is a police officer and DD2 is going as a donut.
Any unique traditions? Not really

I’m so lame I haven’t done anything for Halloween in years. My kid does dress up and I’ll take her TOTing, unless her dad has her. This year I have her. She’s dressing up as a character from Fortnite. She really wanted to be some anime character but we had trouble finding he right clothes. We’re going to go TOTing with SIL and her kids. Hoping the weather isn’t too gross!

What are you doing for halloween? I’m taking DD trick or treating. There have been a lot of buzz abc warnings about candy being laced with THC and some early Halloween parties in our area. So I’m thinking I’ll let her have the experience but give her candy I bought. I hate how people can ruin experiences for children.
Are you dressing up? I’ll wear a unicorn headband.
Do you have kids that are dressing up? DD picked out a butterfly and unicorn costume, they were on sale. And anything to get her away from her initial request to be a clown. 😬
Any unique traditions? Not really.... I want to do sibling costumes next year....

ttcbabyj do what ever you feel comfortable with, but those "reports" have been going around for years. No one is actually giving away their edibles.

As a precaution (not for drugs specifically) we toss anything that's not in the original packaging, anything homemade (unless given personally by someone we know/trust), etc.

Drugs are pretty expensive, I don’t think most people are just handing them out but you can always go to a hosted event. Like our town’s businesses do a Boo Bash.

This was my first thought, but then DH started to scare me a bit. Legalized weed is very expensive, I can’t imagine folks just handing it out unless they are very wealthy and cruel.

I wasn't feeling up to going out tonight. So DH took the boys and I stayed in and gave out candy (usually we just put the bowl on the porch while we're gone). I'm disappointed but I would have slowed down their fun if I had gone. We'll still dress up for H's birthday supper tomorrow though.
