Oh! Those who's kids video game... do they just do it on the ipad or whatever, or do you have a gaming system for them? S circled a ton of gaming things in the catalog and MH and I are not gamers, at all. Should we just download games to the ipad? Or is there a better system we should get for him? Due to the abovementioned recent changes in his preferences, I do not want to spend too much on anything for fear his preferences will change. Cadence hasn't shown interest in video games other than mh's old school arcade machine. Obsessed. |

jewels for now, I would just stick with games on the ipad. We have Kindles and used to really enjoy them, but the devices tend to start having a lot of glitches early on so they now drive me nuts because I spend so much time trouble-shooting. Which is why we're switching to the Switch.  But that's also selfishly for me though. I love Nintendo games and always have. Nintendo's products are really good and last forever (I had my original Gameboy and Nintendo for something like 25 years). There is a Switch Lite version which is smaller size for little hands and just a portable system that you can't also play on the TV. That or a 2DS would be a good option if you decide to go to a formal gaming system.

1) Last night S went through the Target catalog. Circled approximately half of the catalog, and put a "B" next to things he thinks his brother might like. 2) for the past 2 years all S has wanted has been Legos and Star Wars. Now he says he doesn't like those things. We have approximately 100 lego sets (no exaggeration) and I loved them b/c they were a great project for rainy or cold weekends when we were cooped up inside. Now he wants everything Pokemon/Beyblade/ninja. We really are raising the same child  |

M has been playing excitebike and a few other nintendo games. I still have to help her when she needs to run and jump. She has a few Wii games she likes, too. |

H plays on our N64, so I’d say an Xbox or gameboy or something would be a good idea. |

We play the old-school wii games with both kids, but mostly the stuff on wii resort or wii sports or one of the dancing games. I’ve heard good things about the switch but I don’t think Josie has enough interest in that yet.

Thanks guys - as to what games... I'm not sure. He plays some mario game on MH ipad that is like running and collecting coins or something. One of his besties is really into games so whenever he goes over there they are holed up in his room playing. I'll ask them which they have.
Sounds like maybe the switch lite is a good option though. I will have to look into that.

This isn't helpful, but C loves my old N64 from when I was a kid. Our neighbors also just gave us this as a hand me down and he looooves it. Birthdays will be maybe 1-2 gifts from us, cause they're having parties and will get far too much. Birthdays will be books, puzzles and pyjamas. Christmas: Both kids are getting Samsung tablets, or ipads, not sure which ones yet. B: walkie talkies...that's all I have on my list. ONE thing. J: some sort of doll and kit that includes doing the dolls hair, if anyone has ideas let me know Binoculars look and find books We got this for Layla last year and she still plays with it. Spirograph?
Maybe she already has this, but what about those kits with interchangeable plates where the user can 'design' a figure, create a rubbing, and then color them in? I've seen them that are geared towards fashion design, super heroes, etc. |

Thanks for all the good ideas, @nam, flamingo, and trtlcrzy! We ended up ordering one of those giant wooden artists boxes full of colored pencils, pastels, water colors, crayons and markers, a light- up tracing kit, and a box of stencils. flamingo, we have fashion plates and we BOTH love using it. |

Target has a spirograph/paint spinner combo that Cadence wants. She also has those designer plates that flamingo mentioned. She really likes it. |

I loved fashion plates as a kid. I had an interchangeable animal set and my sister had a traditional--more like a Barbie doll set. I had fun with both. I also loved my Spirograph. The girls have both.

Target seems to have the best selection and prices but Amazon is a close second. I haven’t found the series type to matter (sun & moon vs alolan). However, GX, Mega, and EX cards are the higher value ones. The front card on the box will say if it’s the card value. A box set would be the safest bet like this  This one has a figurine in it but others have a large card or a coin. C loves all. He is not a fan of Pokémon clothes for some reason and although he loved the Detective Pikachu movie, he is less excited about those cards. |

We got B one by Step2 for either his 1st or 2nd birthday. This is what we have, it comes in different color combos, and comes with basic food. It's all held up great and C still plays with it 5ish years later. ETA: it's for ages 2+ so better. I think as long as a child is walking independently they'll be fine with this model. My nephew played with it when he was here and he's 16 months. I have this set of toy food...not sure if this would be overkill for E but it's a great set if you want more options. Somewhat related, C received this stroller for her first birthday and it's been terrific. She loads up all her animals and dolls. Super sturdy, so it's great for early walkers; plus it doesn't tip, she used to climb in it herself, lol. |

I don’t think you have to abide by 3 & up. I think that’s more of a guideline of when they might be interested in it and not for safety reasons. We had a plastic little tykes one. I just gave it away, otherwise I would have mailed it to you! |

E has loved the shopping cart. He was sad I sold it this year. If they come with cardboard boxes just toss them or put them away. You can buy plastic food easy in separate packages. |

The deal of the day on Amazon is Stanley camping drink ware. What about some personalized camping stuff? Is he into any sports? We are getting C some sort of net thing that encourages aim while pitching. Dh is getting it so I don’t know exactly what it is. The only toys C is into right now are Beyblades, Hot Wheels, and Tech Deck finger boards. All of which we have enough of so I’m in a similar boat. He’s denounced super hero’s. |
