No, but Warren has not been the target of violence incited by T on Twitter such as the pipe bomb mailings and the El Paso shooter using T’s tweets in his manifesto about killing immigrants. Or the threats against the whistleblower. She directed it to Warren because Warren is taking a big stand against FB and ads and breaking up big tech. Which is fantastic. But also very wonky and long term. Harris is asking for something that could be done immediately and have a huge impact. He is violating TOS of a private company, inciting violence, and obstructing justice. And Warren has scoffed at this call to suspend him from Twitter before, during, and after the debate. Why? Well, to Black people it reinforces the feeling that she’s never been there for marginalized groups. Also of note, Black and minority activists have their accounts suspended and reported all the time on Twitter and IG. They get shut down over the most trivial crap because people report them and they temporarily suspend their account. So, regular people get extreme overreach of TOS and T gets no check whatsoever. It is very wrong and these companies need to be called out. Thanks for walking through this. I was confused by Kamala's focus there during the debate and am annoyed I didn't realize this. Agree, thanks jaygee for explaining. I totally missed that point. I was very confused at the whole exchange.

This was teed up perfectly for Pete bc he always talks about his time in the military and how being in combat really takes your focus off of the differences between you and the rest of your unit.

They won't. But.

And we end the night with Joe yelling again.
Lordy.
That was exhausting.

Biden says he will pull a McConnell if a SCOTUS justice steps down in 2020 How is he going to pull a McConnell? He has no say. And honestly, the less said by him about that the better because he really doesn't want his colleagues pointing out how McConnell based that asshattery on stuff Biden said when he was in the Senate.

Amy directly addressing Trump on women's rights didn't really land If I remember correctly, she talked about the bad things Republicans are doing but she didn't present a solution. Tulsi gave a lot of right wing talking points about third trimester abortion. Almost every single third trimester abortion is because of a fatal abnormality. That's something I think hasn't been conveyed as well as it should.

Agreed. And I think Harris was going for Biden’s voters with that question to Warren. ETA: and younger undecided minority voters

Sincere question from a white person: what needs to be done to reach black voters? What are black voters looking for in a candidate?

Sincere question from a white person: what needs to be done to reach black voters? What are black voters looking for in a candidate? I don’t think I should answer this. I can recommend some twitter follows or sources (I will have to come back tonight and do so), but it’s best to come from Black voices. I know that one issue is that Warren does not have a track record of working on issues specific to POC. It’s a bit of a blind spot for her. So there is frustration over feeling like white voters are anointing her as the favorite and pushing Black voters to get on board or else.

Agreed. And I think Harris was going for Biden’s voters with that question to Warren. ETA: and younger undecided minority voters I agree. I think that’s exactly who she’s targeting. I think EW has been pulling a lot of his support by default as the new establishment candidate. She needs to stand up for POC in this country and not take their support for granted. I think there was room for Warren to acknowledge the damage that Trump’s Twitter is doing to people who are not white/hetero/cis/Christian without calling for a full ban. Her privilege blinded her to the suffering behind Kamala’s question. She screwed up badly on that.

If there is interest, I can come back later and share some threads from Twitter on Harris’ putting pressure on Warren for a T Twitter banning. I’d like to share from the source and not just my interpretation of them.

He’s not wrong. Pete just seems smarmy to me at this point. I was a fan early on. But he’s pivoted on so many positions— this, M4A— and it just feels really opportunistic.

Curious on people’s thoughts on this commentary. I have to admit I did cringe when she was saying these words because it always stings as a woman with infertility (like ugh my body does not do what it is supposed to do), but that pales in comparison to issues around inclusion of trans and non-binary people. This gives me something to think about.
A thread
