Grey and rainy here. Parent teacher conference day are still happening this week, so Josie is on a three hour delayed schedule. I thought I was going to hate it, but it’s been a very relaxing morning. No need to rush to get them dressed or fed. Josie has an all about me poster due for school next week so we have been making rough drafts of what she might want to include. My favorite is a drawing of a giant piece of salami (her favorite food), a sticker of the Eiffel tower (the city she’d like to visit – thank you Fancy Nancy), and three pictures of her her at the beach.

Rainy here this morning too. A loud storm came through around 3am, woke me up and I knew I'd have a visitor soon. Sure enough, Evie came climbing into my bed. Which as fine, she slept on H's side since he is out of town. That poster sounds cute guster!

Morning! guster that sounds cute! Also, I really enjoy the leisurely mornings with afternoon K; we are in for a rude awakening next year when B is on the normal school day schedule! Also grey and rainy here, and chilly (finally!) Both kids have school today and I have a tennis lesson. I might run B to Target and/or the library after we drop C off.

Morning! L was pretty sleepy yesterday so he had some good nursing sessions overnight. We should be busting out of here by 11 in time to pick up H from preschool.

Morning.
SSDD here for now. We have the fall festival at M’s school tonight so we’ll be doing that later this evening. M got picked to be the super student this week and got two tickets to the high school football game. It was supposed to be Friday, but they changed it to tonight due to bad weather tomorrow night. He and Mh might go to that after the festival just for a bit. He got a concession stand voucher, so they are only going to get free food. Lol.

At the donut shop. J will be a few minutes late to school but I didn't feel like making breakfast. We all slept in pretty late. I had to wake J at 8:30. M has homework to do when we get home. He didn't do it last night because he hung out with my mom. She got meal worms to raise as a snack for her chickens so they were setting them up.

At the office. It's grey and dreary, threatening to rain. Crickets are out in full force. Places have even closed because there are so many of them. wtf?
Cadence has tomorrow and Monday off. Monday we have her parent teacher conference though.

Morning! I made it through the day not eating yesterday then, of course, overate at dinner. But it was a nice evening and the kids had fun. I've been fighting a cold for a few days now and I think I just need to accept that it's here. Hopefully it passes quickly. slenle I'm glad you had a good night with L. I'm sure you can't wait to get home and back to your routine!

I'm on a mission today. My boss is late, which is nothing new (I can't remember the last time he was on time), but the important part of that news is I was told when he arrives he's bringing donuts. I never find out about the donuts until they're picked over and it's just the crappy ones left. I just stalked the break room figuring he's probably here by now. Not yet. I'm PMSing and really want a good donut. Please send positive thoughts my way.

Well we survived our first run to school for both kids. Barely. K cried for 1/3 of the way and then the last 10 min on the way back. It took 2 hours round trip. FML. I need to figure out how often n will be going to school or an abbreviated half day schedule to save my sanity.
I also have a plugged duct, so working on that while testing out the haakaa pump, which is pretty handy.

Morning. Working from home because I have a hair appointment close to home this afternoon. I need it desperately, I'm a scraggly mess.
FIL is still in the ICU and no one seems to know what happened. Apparently there was no stroke or heart attack, but his fever was up again last night (102 which is far less scary than 106) so he's not going anywhere just yet. It's nerve wracking, knowing his and his brothers' health issues over the last decade or so.

I'm annoyed. I just signed up for the girls' conferences at the end of the month. The entire last week of the month is half days which is supposed to be to support time for conferences, but both of their teachers only had times available on Tuesday and Wednesday. Luckily I got registered quick enough to schedule during lunch time.

Morning. We just got home from the eye doctor. S does not need glasses at this time and she took the puff of air like a champ. The optometrist recommended I bring H in for a check to so we need to get that scheduled. It’s rainy and cold her also. They are talking the S word overnight and I am in denial. I need to get H new snow boots for this year because she outgrew her old ones and they are required to wear them to school.

Wait, so some of y’all have a week of half days for conferences? I’ve never heard of this until this board.
Here they get 1 day off for conferences; I guess if that doesn’t work for a family the teacher can schedule something for another time. That was always how it was growing up, too.

When I was a kid I think there was usually 2 days off school to accommodate for conferences. The entire week of half days is annoying to say the least. I had a mom fail moment Maddie's first half day. I sent her without lunch because their half days end before their regular lunch time (and when I was a kid we never had a lunch at school on half days). Welp, they ate lunch. I get it that it's probably to ensure the kids on the lunch program still get a meal, but I don't know why they don't just send them home with a sack lunch like they would for a field trip or something.

Half days all week for us, too. Doesn’t bother me since we do aftercare and it’s easy enough to pick him up early, but obviously I see how this is an inconvenience for probably 90% of parents. Plus, like inthekitty said, no cafeteria lunches, which I can usually get him to but at least a couple times a week. We had ours yesterday and apparently he is a perfect angel at school. Saving all the emotional meltdowns for me at home. Which is good, I guess? I got outfits for him and his BFF for twin day today, and they changed here and we all walked to school together. Then right at the K playground gate Dude collapsed in a heap for no apparent reason and started crying. I think he’s feeling pretty overwhelmed ATM and it’s heartbreaking.

One day my brother got in trouble and opted for swats thinking that meant my parents would never find out he was messing up at school. Nope. They call you parents after the swats to let them know. My Dad went down there all pissed. Mostly because if anyone was going to give his kid swats it was going to be him. Spankings were a thing then, at least in our family they were.

It was not like this when I was a kid, but it is like that in our district now too. I am told it is b/c the teachers are only contracted to work X hours in a day, so if they have to stay super late for conferences, they are outside of their contract. So they get a half day and then can schedule that many hours of conferences each day. We are going to be on vacation that week (silly me, I saw all the time off on the calendar during that time and scheduled our trip, not thinking about why), but our teacher already told us we could schedule it another day.
