Both aftercares in our town abide by the town's school schedule so I think for most working parents it's no different on a half day, they just start aftercare earlier.

Guess who lost another library book in after care. I don't get what is so hard to understand about "keep your library books in your bag until you get home". Hopefully, they are able to find it today.

When I was a kid there were only conference if you were bad and the teacher needed to confront your parents. Same. No days off just for conferences. I haven’t been informed of any conference days for this year.

Grr. I'm annoyed. I remembered that my husband sprung on my that one of his friends is stopping through town and staying the night. The kids (and potentially me as well--our school is so disorganized now that I'm not sure what's going on) have a belt test tonight which will make for an extremely long day. I officially started my period and it feels like my body is trying to kill me from the inside out. I just wanted to take off my bra and put my feet up on the couch tonight and not have to entertain anyone. I like his friend, but I'm not in the mood. I plan to park my ass on the couch and watch TV. MH can entertain.

So my OB's office has Instagram (a bit weird, but whatever) and they just posted a nice bottle of wine that my OB got as a thank you gift from a grateful patient. Gah - am I missing something?! I assume this is not the norm, right?
Also my FIL just sent a sweet necklace that has the 3 kids names and little birth stones attached. Very sweet. Not my style at all, but I'm impressed regardless. My SIL obviously ordered.

tallb No to giving my OB a gift. I don't give my GP a gift for a flu shot. It's their job...they make damn good money doing it.

Our conferences are two days. I would be pretty irritated with the week of half days. I’d have to pay extra for aftercare for 5 days vs 2 days and it would be more expensive. It’s also a lot of shuffling around.

My school I work in has one day every other month where they put all the kids in the auditorium (one grade at a time) for an assembly and we can schedule as many conferences as we want. Then there is 1 night in February where we meet with kids in danger of failing the year. Outside of that, we schedule as needed on our prep periods. We do not meet with everyone, only ones with concerns or one that request a meeting.
I haven’t really ever had conferences with any of my kid’s teachers. I email when needed but that’s it. I can see their grades online all the time so I always know where they stand academically. My 2 oldest are great self tattle tales though, I may need more for the little guys.

The commercial filmed at my house is online. It’s a PSA on domestic violence. My sister lost a very close friend to domestic violence this year so I can’t watch it without crying.

BIL is an OBGYN--he does not get gifts, to my knowledge. That is definitely not the norm! I'd assume there were some extraordinary circumstances, and/or they have a long-standing relationship.
My OB offices have always displayed birth announcements/holiday photo cards from patients, which I think is really cute.

Speaking of school and school fundraisers (well, yesterday), we just had one tonight! You could order a pizza from the neighborhood Papa Johns and staff members from the school would deliver it. The school got 20% of sales and 100% of tips, and I didn’t have to cook. Win-win 🙌🏻
We had the school secretary and asst. principal bring ours; you would have thought they were rockstars, B was so excited. It was adorable.

Were sitting in the car waiting to see how quick the rain shower that no one knew was coming takes. I’m glad we showed up 15min early and got to do a good bit before the clouds showed up.

joelies what are his symptoms? Anything showing up on blood work? We finally heard after almost 48 hours in the ICU that he has a bacterial infection in his blood stream. Not sure if it's tick-borne or mosquito. So relieved they are moving forward with a diagnosis.

My OB offices have always displayed birth announcements/holiday photo cards from patients, which I think is really cute. The office is in a fancy area, so could be the clientele. Also sometimes doctors come in on their nights off to deliver patients...I did have my doctor's cell phone and she had wanted me to text if I went into labor so she could come in if she was available. In which case I would probably would send a gift now that I think about it. I have always sent birth announcements to the doc with a note, and I also send to the pediatrician and they display those as well.

Ha...yeah, when he was a resident at the teaching hospital, they definitely weren't getting gifts from patients! I think he had a patient name a baby after him, though. His current practice is definitely more upscale, I'll have to ask if he's gotten anything good Somewhat related, my grandfather helped deliver a baby in the back of his police car--this was back in the early 60s--and the woman named the baby "Policia". True story. He loved telling that one.

I did not get them a gift. I did get bring in large boxes of donuts for the labor and delivery and NICU staff when we discharged later on though... hopefully the OB got one lol.

tallb Has J seen the Subaru Forester commercial where it's a family of labs/golden retrievers driving in the desert? It is so cute, if you can find it on youtube.

I'm not sure if he has but we love the dog ones and joke that Subaru has their marketing down perfectly and we are their target demographic. J do need to show them to him..the baby puppy is named Anna. And Mom dog is French librarian and he's making her library. So random.

Hopefully they can kill the infection quickly and he's feeling better soon. Infections that you can't find the cause of are scary. That was what happened to my step dad, and he ended up with a PICC Line for 6 weeks after he was released from the hospital. My mom administered his antibiotics daily, which we sent FedEx regularly.
