Our school has their only (and huge) fundraiser in October. We have been asked to donate to the class basket that is raffled off, make mystery bags with about $5 worth of items that get sold, and lots of requests for our time. It’s been a lot of emails and I’m over it.
The teacher herself had a wishlist at the start of school and has only asked for empty toilet paper rolls for a STEAM project. But we also live in an affluent town that prides itself in its schools so I would suspect it’s a whole different situation.

We finally got our first email from the class co-parents (thankfully someone volunteered bc I was feeling guilty not since we didn't have one). So far they just asked for chaperones for next week's field trip. We do bring snack once a month for the entire class, so we just get a snack that's on sale at Costco. We joined the PTA as well, which was $25. Still a lot less than Pre-K even after paying for aftercare though!

Our school is in an affluent part of town and also prides itself in its schools. But I am wondering if that’s why they feel they can ask the parents for things Willy Nilly. Maybe they know they will have no problem getting the support from the parents?

lahdeedah we’ve had emails from the teacher about needing white board markers and paint. The room parents sent an email asking for everyone to bring in candy or a treat for their halloween goody bags. Her teacher is currently working on an amazon wish list. Our school is a bit different than yours though. They ran out of paper the day of open house so we couldn’t sign up for parent/teacher conferences. Even though we’re a title 1 school about 75% of our district is and funding is a problem...along with the school board and a lack of a superintendent. I could go on and on for hours. Lol. I don’t mind contributing a few things here and there because I know the majority of her class is unable to financially. Your teacher sounds like she’s taking advantage though.

Private school here but they don’t charge a lot. They do a ton of fundraisers where they set goals for the kids (but really the parents). the class mom did a sign up for the Halloween party. The teacher asked for juice for the buddy program party tomorrow. I know there will be about 10 more parties that they will do sign ups for. The school/church has a helping tree. Teachers put supply requests on the tree and the congregation or parents can see the requests pull the leaf that they can do and get the item. It may not be for lo’s class, the teachers don’t put their names on it.

I don’t think I checked in yesterday. I’m trying to remember what this is of the conversation are. lahdeedah, I don’t think the teachers wish list is appropriate. It’s not for daily classroom routines, but rather one off. I would not be uncomfortable contributing to that fund. flamingo, I have had both UGGs and knock off’s for Josie. And actually a pair of chukka style UGG boots for Charlie. The uggs did hold up a little better but as the others said it’s not something I let her wear in the rain or the snow. It is much more for fashion on the colder, drier days we have here. I might want to get both of them pairs of the L.L. Bean or Sperry duck boots this year. I really like the way they look.

I wasn't sure if that was correct but we just got his class picture and there were 20 kids there and he said his 1 friend was absent so I guess he was right!

M has 20 in his class. There are 4 classes, which is why we're half day. If we went full day they would have to build 2 more class rooms and hire 2 more teachers.
