Parent teacher conference this afternoon, then I am picking up Dude and his friend early so they can come here for a play date.
Menu requested: popsicles, carrots, apples, frozen pizza, and cinnamon rolls.
I’m looking at a mountain of laundry, my planner, and to-do list lamenting my lack of motivation to conquer anything at the moment.

Morning. Just cleaning out closets while we wait for the infusion nurse to get here. Then it’s 5 hours of snuggles on the couch with my girl and the TV while she gets her infusion. They pre-medicate with Benedryl each time but it’s caused some seizure issues the last two times so we are using a different drug today...🤞 it is better!

Ahh, so cute! I was looking at that the other day thinking of C in a couple more years. No experience with this one, obviously, but I was a big Barbie girl (played with them well into elementary school) and the year I got my Barbie dream house is one of the Christmases that stands out the most in my memory. I was 4? and I can still see it sitting in the living room where Santa had left it all set up, etc. So I'm team Go For It if you think she'd enjoy it.

I can just picture her opening it (likely set up with a sheet and a bow over it) and getting SOOOOOOO excited!!!!

My question is Ugg boots for kids...worth it or not? I've found a couple pairs I like in the $60 range. I found Ugg's lower-priced line, Kookaburra (sp?) in the $45-50 range. That's basically what I have it narrowed down to (i've gone with cheaper versions in the past and they just don't hold up to active playing, so this year I am willing to invest a bit more).
What say you, N13? Anyone familiar with the lower-cost line? Should I splurge on the 'real' ones?
eta: Maybe it's time to start our annual gift thread, with birthdays and holidays coming up?

Anyone else gets emails/notes on the regular from the teacher asking for help with buying stuff for the class?
Seems like they have a lot of special days or activities. His teacher sends out emails to everyone at least twice a month asking if anyone would like to help with buying stuff for these activities and such. Just wondering if this normal for schools these days. I’m sure it may differ for different states with funding and what not.

Last year M's teacher would send announcements when they were running low and I'd get them some stuff from Costco. When she was in K there were a few random requests for odd things needed for a craft, but it was maybe 2-3 times throughout the year. *The girls' school has good funding as far as I'm aware.

Last night I went to check on the girls when they were supposed to be sleeping. I expected to find Cass passed out in her bed (she gets tired like a normal person and usually isn't too much of a problem about bedtime), but instead found her and Maddie together in sleeping bags on Maddie's floor while Maddie was reading Shel Silverstein to her. It was cute so I couldn't be too harsh but told them to wrap it up and go to bed.

@ladeedah different country, we get asked to bring something regularly, but mostly inexpensive stuff like an empty jar, a matchbox, chestnuts, some vegetables if they want to make soup etc. The only time we have to pay extra is around the holidays for the Sinterklaas present (we make those).

The only thing we've been asked for is to bring lysol wipes and kleenex in the month of his birthday. It helps keeps the germs at bay. There arent many parties that are organized and she said that she'll be sending out a list prior to the party of what to bring.

I watched In the Tall Grass on Netflix. I went in thinking it would be similar to Children of the Corn, which is perhaps one of my most favorite movies of all time. I was very disappointed. And it wasn't scary.

We don't have that one, but Evie has one that is big like that. She loves it. I think we got it 2 Christmas' ago. It was a BITCH to assemble, just a warning. But she has already spent hours playing with it, so it was worth it. they do take up quite a bit of space, but Evie knows when she's done playing, all her Barbies and their crap go in the house, not on the floor around it. Otherwise I will vacuum it all up! I always wanted a Barbie dream house, so it was important to me to get her one.

We just got asked if we want to donate a bag of candy or $5 to contribute towards candy for the trick or treat at their Halloween party. That was the first we have been asked though!

wineallthetime N was playing with one at a friend's house and she LOVED it. She doesn't have any Barbies yet, so maybe in a few years. inthekitty well that is adorable! flamingo N had some used UGGs last year and they were super cute and seemed warm. I paid $10 though and not sure we got enough use out of them to pay full price, but do pair nicely with leggings and skinny pants. Are you thinking for B too? I don't think they are easy to style for boys

Last day of mh being home..he is currently planting out back, and a bit nervous since I have more actual planting experience, so trying to let it go. We bought a bunch of boxwoods at one home Depot earlier this week, but we needed 2 more, so mh got more at a different location...and they look so much nicer. So k and I went and picked up 6 more from that spot. And now need to take back the first 6...
J is off on his first aftercare field trip to the pumpkin patch. They said bring a brown bag lunch, so we sent a completely disposable lunch and water bottle...turns out everyone else brought backpacks. So hoping he can find his lunch and didn't get lost today. I was really tempted to pull N out of school and take her along, but decided to abstain from being a complete helicopter mom.

Most of those "specials" here are sponsored by the PTA here. The class mom sent home a note last week asking for $20 per family to cover all the classroom parties/activities for the year, which, honestly, I was surprised at how low it was. It's supposed to cover the end of year teacher's gift too.

It's supposed to cover the end of year teacher's gift too. That's how Col's school operates. You pay to "join" the PTO at the beginning of the year and class parents ask for ~$20 to cover teacher gifts. The PTO does a lot of fundraisers through out the year and then they cover most things that way.
