Happy Monday!
DS3 seems to be going through some sort of regression. My back is killing me today from carrying him around everywhere all weekend and his nighttime sleep was awful. He is showing no obvious signs of discomfort and is fever free. My husband was going to stay home with him today, but I talked him out of it. There's no point in taking him to the doctor with no symptoms.
I still haven't heard back from the job I interview for. I did not think much about it last week, but was counting on hearing from them by Friday (one week after my 2nd interview). But now I don't know if they offered it to someone else and they are waiting for a response before rejecting other qualified candidates or if HR is just that slow in putting together an offer.

Holy Hell Charlie. It just took me 5 solid minutes to wrestle this kid into the high chair. He was signing like crazy for food and going to the fridge but kept arching his back and screaming at the top of his lungs when I went to put him in. I kept telling him no food unless he sat in his seat. I just...what do I do with this behavior and limited communication at this age??

doublestuf I think having consistency is key. I won't let DD eat unless she is sitting in her high chair too. Was he hangry? Eating later then normal

Does anyone have a cast iron skillet? Do you oil it after each use?

doublestuf I think having consistency is key. I won't let DD eat unless she is sitting in her high chair too. Was he hangry? Eating later then normal He had already had snacks so he shouldn't have been hangry. He has been more beastly than normal since yesterday. I think it's teeth based on the biting and pulling at his face. He had a low grade fever today too. He just hates any form of restraint-getting in the car seat, diaper changes, getting dressed are all often fights. He also pulls at his tray and wants to get up before I think he's really finished (grabs more food as you're taking it away). I just need him to chillllll, and he apparently just cannot.

doublestuf, honestly sometimes i take the path of least resistance just let DS3 wander while he eats breakfast-- i give him something like a cheese stick so he can't make a huge mess. klw, yes, you have to oil it all over after each use. if it's a new skillet, it helps a lot to cook bacon in it several times to help build up the coating.

doublestuf L has started doing similar things. He is not a fan of his car seat anymore. He doesn’t fight going into the high chair, but then he is quickly over it even when he isn’t done eating. We do let him eat breakfast outside his chair since we’re both eating and getting ready in the mornings, and that helps. Though he gets distracted easily. I’ve also chalked all this up to teething. L definitely gets frustrated a lot quicker and has much larger reactions to things than he used to. He actually scratched a kid at daycare yesterday out of frustration. 😔

We sometimes do not messy snacks outside the high chair too. H and I decided we may have to do away with that if this keeps up.
But, he woke up a hot mess this morning after a not fun night and has an ear infection. So maybe that is the issue. And DD woke up with a swollen foot and a ring around a bite mark. Took her the doc with Charlie and it's likely a spider bite. At least this happened at the same time so that we didn't miss even more work.

I was supposed to have a day to myself yesterday to use some comp time. J had other plans. He had a doctor's appointment and got his flu shot. The flu shot really upset him. I was on my way to take him to school when he started crying that he didn't want to go to school and he wanted to go home. I gave in and brought him back home. He loves school so it's really unusual that he doesn't want to go. His thigh is pretty red and swollen this morning and he's sore. Z also had trouble with his flu shot this year.
Z has been so damn cranky at home. They haven't said anything about his mood at daycare so I think he's fine during the day. I would like to have some time with him where he's not whining or throwing himself on the floor too. Damn.

H was running late from work and while on the way home told me that his brother was stopping by to pick something up. I'm in the middle of cooking dinner, the family room is a mess and DD1 is decorating for Halloween. He knew last night that BIL was stopping by!! Then he wants to know why I'm in a mood when he gets home. 😬

Both kids are going to the same daycare this week because of fall break. One drop off and pick up is so darn nice!

It's supposed to be 75 today and 25 with 2-4 inches of snow. Never change Colorado.

Does anyone have a cast iron skillet? Do you oil it after each use? We use a small one for eggs most mornings. We try to clean it as dry as possible (I often use a dry scrubber to scrape out the egg bits that are left), and then we just spray it with olive oil spray (The same that we use for cooking) and wipe it down. Not really a big deal. A few months in, it really started being non-stick, and most debris just wipes away.

The baby got her flu shot on Monday and now her leg is swollen and red and hit to the touch. It’s her whole thigh that’s swollen. Is this something I should worry about or a normal site reaction?

PennyCandy does that type of reaction have anything to do with 1) that year's combination of strains and/or 2) who is giving the shot and how skillfully they're doing it? i always wondered why it happens some years and not others.

I think it has more to do with the strains in the shot. All of the A strains changed this year. I believe the B strain is the same. If the shot is given in the wrong spot, which is unlikely unless the person is just really that unskilled, then you would be more likely to have a reaction. For example if it's given too close to a joint or in a joint, it can cause a lot of pain. If it's given in a small muscle like the triceps vs the deltoid where it should be given in an adult you could also see a bigger local reaction.

There was a gas leak at work so they closed my office for the afternoon. It's kind of been a shit show since we had appointments all day.

My sister is on her way to the hospital for an induction tonight!!! It was supposed to be on Sunday night. But her BP was really high at her appointment today and they couldn't get it down. So her doc told her to go home, get her bags and go in. She was crying on the phone and made me cry.

Awwww that's such a roller coaster klw. Hopefully things go smoothly. All those hormones and wanting birth to go a certain way and everything you can't control is so frustrating.

Charlie is coughing every couple minutes and has some crazy gas. We have been awake with him for multiple hours the past 2 nights and tonight doesn't look any better. I'm so tired and feeling like I'll never sleep again.

It's definitely been a roller coaster. He was breech until last week so she had her mind set that she would need a c/s. And now this. I hate that she is a few hours away. She was here for moth of my kids births. But with her schedule being more flexible, she could do that. Our weekends are full for the next few weeks and I am 6 weeks into a new job so I can't take a few days off.

Zach has a swallow study today. I don't think he will pass, but wish us luck anyway.
