Do bobby pins hold anyone's hair? My hair laughs at them as they slide, slide, slippety side right off my head. I have baby-fine, straight hair. Me too! I don't know if I'm bobby pin stupid but they don't hold my hair in place at all.

Touching her hair is just a tic. I fiddle with my jewelry constantly. It's something for my hands to do. There was one time that we were headed to a family function and I was playing with my hair apparently because my sister and her boyfriend had just so happened to be behind me and she said oh I think that is my sister and her boyfriend said yep she is playing with her hair like you do.

I literally would not even notice the hair playing thing unless people point it out. But I have always had long hair and it’s just part of life. I don’t see what the big deal is, at all.

I'm a notorious hair fiddler. From birth. My mom tried so hard to get me to stop for most of my youth and then gave up. My younger DD looks like she's going to be one too.
I have thick, curly/wavy hair and bobby pins do a decent job. If I am trying to hold back a decent amount of hair, I will cross two of them and it holds all day.

Unless I wear my hair in a slicked back bun, at some point I’m going to be touching it. Unless someone is aggressively twirling their hair or chewing on it (had that happen in a meeting once), I wouldn’t notice.

I do not care to ever see Meghan with her hair pulled and slicked back that tight. If I want to see that look in a royal, there's a billion Victoria pictures to choose from.

I know people have said they feel like they can't criticize Meghan because people get upset. But I want to try to explain: it's like the cup is so full with the racist shit, and so when more comes (even if it's not race related), it just overflows. If we were in a vacuum and none of the racist shit was happening, I think the reactions to general criticisms would be different. But we don't live in a vacuum. I know I get ramped up when hair things come up. I know for 90% of people it isn't a racism thing, but I definitely am in the you don't know how hard her hair texture is to manage etc. that I can't separate it.

And the hair complaints are certainly viewed through that lens, at least on my part, because so many of the comments seem to ignore hair type/texture and come across as vaguely racist. It's like white people who view styles like twist outs and the like as unprofessional for the work place.

I know that I am not known well beyond my BMBs, but I hope that my comments about her hair are not being taken in a racist way. I apologize if they are. I like her hair in many other styles...today's was just a miss for me.

I like her hair in many other styles...today's was just a miss for me. My comment wasn't directed at you specifically (and hi from Nov/Dec 2019)- it's just that in general most people don't take into consideration that her hair can't and won't (and shouldn't) look the same as, for example, Kate's. The cuticle is different and won't ever look as "smooth" or "polished" or insert any other term usually used to describe white people hair. When people complain about the current length of Meghan's hair I give it no more thought, but when it's called "messy", it definitely makes me think that her hair is being viewed (often unintentionally) through a white centric beauty standard. Like there's a difference between saying something like "I wish she had chosen a more formal hairstyle for this outfit/occasion instead of a modern messy bun" vs "her hair looks messy/disheveled". I hope that makes sense.

I prefer when Meghan wears her hair looser. She had is slicked back at the Trooping this year and it just didn't look great.
And FTR I dislike any and all totally down all over the face hair, like she had it on purple dress day.

Yes even that I was like Meghan honey part it different or something I thought her hair looked gorgeous but not at all practical for having to walk down the stairs looking down and all that way to the stage. It was perfect for a photoshoot, but not quite for real life activities.

I have a similar texture to Meghan’s hair. You can’t keep my hair in anything no matter how many Bobby pins my mom put in it when it was straight! I have super fine hair when it straight! Curly... I can hold it in a twist with 1 pencil and do a complete zumba class without it falling out. Also the stuff they put in it to keep the fly always at bay make it even harder to keep it up. For me, complaints about her hair styles are racist. It’s a microaggression! Her hair is nothing like Kate’s (I doubt Kate’s real hair is what we think it is) but Kate’s hair is always “perfect” but according to a European standard. When it’s not perfect, it must be the humidity, her stylist is on maternity leave, excuses excuses. Meghan would get destroyed for her natural hair. Gets destroyed when it doesn’t stay put! Kate has her natural waves... how lovely!?! But when we point out the little inconsistencies even in here, some of y’all get defensive. I would just ask before you comment, check yourself that your not comparing her hair to some European standard. Black women like wisps, and our edges, which look “unprofessional” to white people. Though appropriated by Kardashians. We are constantly told our natural hair is unprofessional and even the styles we do with straightened hair are sometimes deemed unprofessional. As long as you hold her to a European standard, #shejustcantwin Edit to add elle worded it better and shorter than this!

I have feels about the hair thing with Meghan, but just can’t articulate them well.
I just don’t know why it’s a big deal that we have a couple pics with her touching her hair. Who TF cares?? It’s a style/look she was going for. Why is it a problem? She can’t touch her hair?
I have had these feels since she took that mile long walk to the stage and people were wondering why she wore her hair down if she had to walk all that way down stairs? Like, wut?

But I feel like overall I must be missing something because ALL I see now, outside of pretty much this thread, is how much people can't stand her. She's fake, she's selfish, she's all me me me, she married him only to become royalty (but then in the next breath they complain about how rude and disrespectful she is to the Royal family and their traditions). I think the oddest part is that the majority of the people who hate her are American. Like, it's the British tabloid media, which is awful to everyone, and American women. If I had a penny for every time someone claims they had a 'bad feeling' about her from the beginning I would have, well a lot of pennies.

I am comparing her hair to her hair. I just googled Meghan Markle messy bun and there were exactly zero pictures that I did not like that came up in the first few pages in my search. It was literally just today's.

And I get that part but even here, I feel like I can’t really say anything negative about Meghan because of the reasoning behind other people saying things. I agree the hair stuff is weird and I haven’t got an opinion on that. I don’t have hair like hers I don’t care how she wears it tbh. But....while I love what she represents and I Iove that little girls have a princess who looks more Iike them then ever before I just don’t actually care for her. I’ve tried. I’ve listened to her stans here and IRL and at the end of the day she doesn’t do it for me. I think she probably is very difficult, I think she probably isn’t very nice and it makes me a bit sad. I don’t think she knew exactly what she was getting into when she married into the BRF and my guess is that it appeared shinier before she was inside it.

And to add a bit to the Queen moving or removing their picture. I know it is TOTALLY NORMAL for her to rotate pics but isn’t it just bad optics to rotate them out right now? Idk they how this shit works and with all the stuff going on between the press and H&M shouldn’t see have left a picture out of them for now? Maybe rotate it out next round? Idk
