Cs party is 1:30-3:30. I should probably write a note to go with the invite that pizza and cake will be served, right? I already got the invites and didn’t even think about it. I think I would — that’s a very good thought. Thanks! What kind of party is he having? He’s having a karate party and the studio. They will do a mini class, games, and the biggest selling feature for him is that he gets to cut his cake with a real samurai sword 🗡. He’s thrilled!

Yes to a cat theme! I saw this shower curtain at Kohl’s last night I didn’t get it because I just bought a throw blanket with dressed up cats on it at Homegoods. It’s so cute but DH thinks I’m slightly crazy.

I prolly wouldn’t drop B off at a movie party. The public aspect of it scares me. I think I watch too much lifetime/ true crime. 😬 I did leave her at a drop off party at someone’s house the other week. First time ever, but I’d known the mom since the girls were in preschool last year together.
We’re doing a party at her ballet studio. She’s obsessed w JoJo Siwa so its going to be a pop star themed dance party.

Also wanted to add that we’ve been guests at 2 movie parties. I stayed both times, all parents did tho.

We weren't going to do a party but I'm thinking about maybe having a movie night at the house with a few friends. Unfortunately it's hard to have a small enough party list it won't be too crazy.

Resurrecting this thread as I am planning S birthday party and am curious as to what everyone else is doing. Like y'all said, I hate that he is at the beginning of the year. We are doing a ninja theme birthday party (obstacle course) at the Y. He is inviting his full class (20 kids) along with his handful of good friends from DC that he still socializes with. I am hoping a bunch of kids say no b/c it maxes out at 25 kids! I will probably wait to invite some of his "other" friends till I hear back from some school families.
I am now just deciding between the 2 time slots 11 - 12:30 or 2 - 3:30. They only do Saturdays. What would N13 choose?

jewels, I think I would do the 2 o’clock. I bet a lot of kids have activities on Saturday morning and this would give you the greatest chance of everyone coming.

jewels I'd prefer the 2-3:30 slot. But if you don't want everyone to show up, then do the earlier slot.

@christ01 I’d most likely take the 11-12.30, because that way I could do something after the party 🤷🏼♀️.

I really need to get in gear and figure out what we’re doing party wise for M. I kinda want to do something small with two of his best friends, but I don’t know what.

I always love this idea, and I kind of hope once Josie (and eventually Charlie) has a small close group of friends that it’s what we can do in the future.

We have done a complete 180 and move from the pottery birthday parties to a cookie decorating party to what we are pretty sure now is a birthday party at the Taekwondo studio. We went to one over the summer and they do a ton of games with the kids and keep them moving for over an hour. Just enough time to do cake and goodie bags and send everyone on their way!

When I was a kid I could only invite like 3 friends to my birthday parties. I think it had more to do with my parents not wanting to pay for a big party though.

We’re decorating cupcakes and little wooden treasure boxes, which will also be the party favours .

We haven't started inviting friends to birthday parties yet, and I'm not going to mention it until she asks. Her birthday this year will be like the others, immediate family only. I'm not looking forward to friend parties!

I don't think having M's party at the movie theater will work out. They can't give me a time until the Tuesday before the party. They only do 1 party a day and I could request the afternoon, but they won't know the movie showtimes until that Tuesday. Annoying.
Maybe she'll be okay with going back to the gymnastics place.

I'm not looking forward to friend parties! I've loved C's friend parties, but we haven't invited his class or anything yet. We have just invited his friends who's parents we are friends with. So we all eat and the adults drink and hang out while the kids demolish my house.

I would love to do a party with our friends' families at our house, but our house isn't great for entertaining when everyone is inside (bad layout) so it pretty much rules out a party in late november unless it's like 2 friends.

RSVP date is Friday. We invited 24. The max we can have is 20. So far we have 8 coming and haven’t heard from the other 16.
I’m so happy the karate studio does everything. I just need to show up with cake. They do the goodie bags but we did want to add a couple of things so we need to get those.

We did family birthday last weekend when SD was here. I've been telling him no big party BUT I am going to have a few (up to 5) friends from daycare come over for movie and pizza or really movie in the background while the kids play. It will be drop off and these parents know us well enough. ETA I don't want him getting presents just enjoying time with his friends. So I thought this would be sufficient
