The plague has defended upon our house. K is finally getting better but H and I are only getting worse. Went to the drs. Yesterday and now I have three prescriptions and two otcs to take. MH has a drs appointment this morning and then is probably also staying home. I'm currently in bed with the cat thanking the universe for daycare. What are you guys up today?

Morning! I'm officially at the part of the week where I really miss DS. I might feel differently if I worked normal people hours instead of four long days, but then I'd probably miss the three-day weekends. Thankfully it's my Friday and I have an even longer weekend because of the holiday.

I'm sorry you're sick, Sheila (...is it okay if I call you Sheila? Tank? StT?)
We are looking at day one of two for the delivery of our shipment/95% of our worldly possessions that has taken three months to make its way back to the US from Asia. I'm super excited to have all our stuff back and also overwhelmed because we have no room for any of it -- we moved from a three-story villa to a two-bedroom apartment (for close to the same rent --- eesh). Happy my kid doesn't have to sleep in a pack and play anymore, though!

Morning. I think J is having night terrors- she has been waking up once or twice a night just super upset the past few nights. It's also lined up with her refusing an afternoon nap, so I don't know what her deal is. She goes back to sleep fast enough at night but she's very very upset when she wakes up.

Mh's cousin's kid has these. They correlate with him being overtired or going to bed late. He doesn't remember them in the morning. You may want to call into the pedi to see if they have any advice if they continue. A lot of kids grow out of the eventually.

sheilathetank That sucks about the sickness - I hope you all feel better soon. We have a different sort of plague descending on our house - book lice have infested DS' room and the guest room. FML. There was a water pipe that broke in our building and caused all these little bugs to start growing in the walls/floors. Now we have to move everything out of our place and into a temporary apartment while they fumigate. We have no idea when we can move back in. This is not what we'd planned on doing this weekend. Ugh.

When we moved to Asia it took us nearly 6 months to get our possessions, because of all the customs/import/work permit rules they have in our country. When our belongings finally came, it was like Christmas on steroids. We'd been living out of 8 suitcases for half a year. Good luck with the unpacking, and I hope you can make everything fit!

DD is day trained but we put her in a pull up at night. Two nights in a row she's woken up in the morning and told me she's pooped in them. I feel bad because her butt hurts in the morning. There's nothing I can do about this right?

Omg! That's awful. Wtf are book lice? I hope the apartment is at least compensating you for the move. They're these little bugs (they are super tiny - can be confused with dust sometimes) that apparently love to eat paper and survive in humid/damp areas. I guess they're really common in the country we live in - I had never heard of them before I moved here. Luckily they don't spread disease, don't bite, and don't infect people (unlike head lice). They just love eating paper products. DS' poor books and our TP stash! They are also so fragile - like you touch them and poof, they disintegrate. So they're easy to kill....but the problem is that they multiply like crazy, and all their eggs/nests are in the walls and floors of DS' room (which must still be damp from the water pipe breakage). So...our landlord has to hire a special company to rip out the walls, floor, dry them out, and then kill them. Oh - and they're slowly starting to spread to the rest of the house...so it's like a race against the clock to GTFO. tl;dr: I know more about book lice than any person should ever have to.

Our shipment to Vietnam took about six months, but we had moved with a lot of stuff from our previous place in Kenya so it wasn't so barren. Definitely does feel like Christmas in May! Sorry to hear about the book lice. Some of our sisal furniture was destroyed by a similar pest in Vietnam. Hope the fumigation works quickly and you guys aren't in a temp place too long.

littleliverpill Thanks for good luck wishes on the book lice. Bummer to hear the shipment took so long for Vietnam for you guys too. That really sucks about your sisal furniture. We've had a bunch of custom teak stuff made here in Thailand, so I'm just like...MOVE IT NOW before the bugs conquer all things! The joys of international moves/living. At least you get Christmas in May!

Sitting in it. She has no problem going during the day so she's not holding it in until nighttime.

Morning. Sorry about the plague sheilathetank. I love the ability to send the kids to daycare when I'm sick. It really helps the whole "get better" process. I actually have a cold but it's manageable. Actually, everyone in my house minus DS1 has a cold. I hate that the baby is sick because there's nothing we can do about it. At least I can live off of DayQuil.

Present and contemplating getting a drink already. This morning was not good. DD has been a mess lately and it literally starts from the moment she wakes up in the morning. Luckily I'm off today and I just dropped her off at daycare 🙌🏻 what to do what to do now...

Hi everyone! Can I play? I intro'ed on SM, but then kind of waited the week out because I didn't want to forum hop. My toddler (two next month!) woke up at 4:50 this morning, and then refused to go back to sleep. But proceeded to remain crabby all morning. When his sitter arrived this morning at our house (a good family friend - he knows her, but she isn't his "usual," she's subbing for my mom while she's on vacation), we saw her coming up the walk and said, "look who's here to see you!" He immediately burst into tears and said "nooooooo, bye bye." Luckily, she's since texted a photo of a happy, smiling kid, but man - is it bad I'm happy to be at work and get a break from my kid today?

I feel like my entire day is telling G yes or no about snacks. How often do they need to eat at this age (1.5)? I'll offer her three different options and she won't eat any of them then keeps whining. Either that or she snacks too much and doesn't eat meals

I never get sick and my kid gave me parainfluenza (cold). I drank hot water with honey and lemon and I am no longer coughing/vomiting, but my throat feels terrible.
I need to get up and shower. I am going to work from home in the morning and then go to the ob. I wish I could take the day off. Ugh.

gangy, I am so jealous. I love when I have days off and daycare is open. I have zero mom guilt about taking them to daycare and being home alone. Enjoy!

It's also lined up with her refusing an afternoon nap, so I don't know what her deal is. She goes back to sleep fast enough at night but she's very very upset when she wakes up. My DD started having these around 2. They definitely happened more frequently on the nights she stayed up too late or didn't get a nap. I would go in and she would just sit in her bed and scream like I wasn't even there. It was awful and I always felt terrible because there was nothing I could do for her. In the morning she would almost never even remember it happened though so it was much more traumatic for me. Making sure she got to bed on time seemed to be the best way to avoid them. I hope you don't have to deal with them too long

When I was out of work last year and able to collect unemployment, I still sent DD to daycare. I love the center and I loved having three days a week to myself! My house was clean, laundry was caught up, it was the best lol.
