The handover ceremony seems to quaint and unnecessary. But like Nancy emailing the articles would be unsatisfying soooo I like it.
I'm big on pomp tho. I feel part of how we got here was a lessening of some tradition.
Some of it needed to be blasted but some of it reminds us of the weight of the history behind it and should help us remember that the system is bigger than an individual.

There are like 8 offices around the capitol that all require hard copies, which will make it to the official record. Pages are in charge of delivering all of those 💪 All senators (at least used to) have a hard copy of all bills and resolutions being discussed at their desks too. So much paper.

Followed by a bunch of emails back and forth and access requests. Because this google docs shit never works. Especially for the over 60 crowd.

Can you imagine being one of those pages right now? Do you think they understand the gravity of what they are watching? byjove were you there during the Clinton impeachment? I was thinking about the pages! They are probably crapping their pants. And they have been there all of like a week, so are still very new. No, I started in Jan 2000. It was stuff of legends though. I figured you were about my age so you just missed it

Folks I really appreciate this discourse to run through. My personal life is a disaster right now so staying current has been a challenge. This helps!

We are really, really good at being supportive when friends need a shoulder to lean on (via the internets) or a place to vent/seek advice, just so you know. I'm just a PM away.

Every time they debate a budget and I see the 8 inch thick stack of paper on every Senator's desk, and know full well there are multiple additional hard copies in their offices/with staff, I cringe so hard.

No, you flat-headed imbecile, it's a sign of respect, you wear a jacket on the floor of the House of Representatives. IDGAF what you do in the tunnels, wear a goddamn jacket on the floor. And it's why Reps refer to each other as "the gentlewoman" or "the gentleman" and so on and so forth. It's not about abiding by arcane rules, its about observing tradition as a means of respecting and appreciating the weight of your words and actions as a member of that body.

And yes, I realize I called Jordan a flat-headed imbecile in the same post where I was ranting about him not respecting his office, but in my defense, I had the opportunity to call him that to his face AND trip him, and I did neither, OK?!

And yet we all said you should have. Or maybe just me? I’m pretty sure I suggested a jar of marbles dropped in path.

This Lev Parnas interview is hilarious. Trump isn't getting thrown under the bus, he's getting thrown under the steam roller. *disclaimer: I don't really believe this guy. I have no reason to. But I'm cackling at how they all turn on each other.
Also he apparently is going to throw Barr under said steamroller too.

my assumption is that Lev thinks he can go on MSNBC and get anti-Trump liberals to rally around his cause, throw a few bucks at his GoFundMe for his legal fund, and help him afford representation after that oligarch money runs out. He never GAF about any of them and they never GAF about him.

His lawyer is both smart and very stupid.
