Sorry for the late post!!
—
How old is your LO?
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going?
0-3 mo What positions/props are working for you?
What are you struggling with?
4-8 mo Any teeth or signs of teething? Is it affecting BF?
If you’ve returned to work, how is that transition going?
9-12mo What’s something BF related that you worried about when pregnant or with a newborn that turned out fine?
Questions/AW?
GTKY: what’s your favorite room in your home?

How old is your LO? Almost 2 days
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing. Going well so far.
0-3 mo What positions/props are working for you? Mostly do cross cradle and use pillows/boppy
What are you struggling with? Slight pain, but nothing terrible. My milk usually comes in between day 2-3.
Questions/AW? Just happy that nursing is going well and baby is finally here. He was born 10 days “late”. I weaned DD back in May and those nursing aversions were so rough
GTKY: what’s your favorite room in your home? I guess the bedrooms since they are the only ones that we’ve at least painted and aren’t outdated/undergoing projects.

How old is your LO? 4.5 months
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing, pumping 2 times a day at work. I though it was going fine. LO is more distracted lately, and I can't tell his hunger cues as well anymore (he is chewing on his hands constantly).
We had his 4 month check last week, and he dropped down a number of curves on the weight chart. The doctor was not ready to do anything yet, but he can't keep dropping. She recommended trying to feed him more, but during the week that is not an option. I dont know what to do.
4-8 mo Any teeth or signs of teething? Is it affecting BF? Hand chewing, but doctor says that is just normal for his age, and not a sign of teething. She did not see any signs at his checkup last week.
If you’ve returned to work, how is that transition going? I have been back at work for a while now. LO is taking more ounces per bottle than my previous 2. I am still pumping just slightly more than he is taking, but I always worry about that going down. I know I should not worry about what ifs, but that is just what I do.
Questions/AW? Any good ways to encourage weight gain?
GTKY: what’s your favorite room in your home? I would say my bedroom, but there is so much junk in there, we really need to find time to sort and donate stuff.

courtniko, is it possible for you to pump 3x a day at work? how many ounces are you pumping and how much is he taking? how long is your workday? it's certainly easier to fit in more nursing at home, rather than more pumping. i would definitely nurse on wakeup AND before you leave for work (or when you drop at daycare) if you're not already doing that. is he waking at night to feed? if not, you need to fit in more nursing during the day. if he goes to sleep for the night before you, wake when you go to bed for a dream feed. are you having any pain or latch issues that might be affecting how efficiently he is transferring milk?

Thank you for the ideas vvvvvfee! I am at work about 8 to 9 hours a day. Lately he is refusing to nurse between his morning wake up (~6:00-6:30), and droppoff (~8:00-8:30). They normally given him a bottle (4oz) 3 hours after his last nursing session, and I pump then. Then about 3 hours later I go in and breastfeed him, but he has been more and more distracted. Again, about 3 hours later he gets another 4 oz bottle, and I pump again. I generally pump around 10oz a day (more at my first pump) with 2 pumping sessions, while he takes about 8oz a day with 2 bottles. He has been waking more often to nurse at night. He used to only wake once, now he is waking about 3 times (ugh). No latch pain, so that is good. I did take your advice, and did a dream feed last night before I went to bed. He ate well then, which was nice. He has been refusing to breastfeed most days before we leave the house, but I will try feeding him when we get to daycare (the days I take him) and see if that extra time gives him a chance to get hungry, that is a great idea. He has also been stuffy lately, so he may not be eating as much because he has trouble breathing while latched on.

you're definitely pumping a normal amount for those 2 sessions... i don't know what to say about the weight gain except to just offer the breast as much as possible. i know the night waking sucks but obviously that would help get more milk into him!
for the stuffiness i would squirt him with saline spray 2x per day to help flush out the mucus.
you could also consider offering small amounts of solids if he seems at all interested. you could outsource it to daycare and send in a container of baby oatmeal and have them offer it an hour or so after he's had a bottle. just another way of getting more calories in him (although it really does not sound to me like you have a supply problem!).

The pedi actually recommended starting solids, but I am just for sure he is ready for that. I agree, I dont think I have a supply issue, if I can pump that much. There is a separate nursing room at daycare, which is less hectic, but maybe I will try turning the lights out in there so there is less for him to look at. I will keep offering as often as i can while we are home. And i will buy some salene spray, that is a great idea, and i think it will help a little. Thank you again for the input!
