Thanks for the commiseration, everyone. They are in North Carolina. So definitely too far to drive. We do have a long weekend coming up next weekend. Josie is home on Friday and Monday and M is home on Monday and Tuesday so we think we might make it work then. Flights are so expensive, unless we’re willing to fly frontier which is such a bargain it almost scares me. Is there an expectation that you will visit right away? And/or could yh or you just go? Not sure if this is the first one and if you'd stay with them or not. I'm thankful my sister is planning a solo trip up here to meet the baby, fewer germs and less entertaining required, and she will be able to help more. Just an idea if you want to get out of paying a ton...could play that route to benefit her.

Hi hi - survived the first night home..mh really hurt his foot and I may lose my mind with his hobbling🙄. My MIL hightailed it out of here this morning, not that I can blame her. With K's appt at the ped, we all had to drive around this morning, plus it was picture day..so the teachers were shocked to see me at dropoff.
K looks great but needs a weight check on Tuesday. I need to work on her latch bc getting some blisters and it hurts a ton at first. Hoping we can get through this weekend in one piece. I also got a flu shot bc I for some reason didn't get one at the OB before delivery.
Oh and does not being allowed to drive for 2 weeks seem excessive? I thought that was for c sections, but it was in my discharge papers and mh is taking it literally. I may call the nurse line.

MH’s brothers get weird about visiting. It has gotten better since the youngest had kids but it may ruffle a few feathers. That is the alternative—we both don’t like it, but we may have to suck it all up. We do want to see them and I’m always up for a hotel stay so if I frame it as a vacation in my mind, I guess I totally mind.

tallb, I drove before 2 weeks even with c-sections. Once I was off pain pills and felt confident I could move around enough I drove.

tallb I wasn’t allowed drive for two weeks after having Atticus (vaginal). I don’t remember them saying anything after X and P or if they did I must have just figured it was unimportant. 🤷♀️ Once I felt good enough to drive, I did.

Josie and Charlie (separately) are both fun shopping partners when I’m looking for myself, but Josie is so distracted when she’s looking for herself that we end up spending so much time in the sparkly accessories that we rarely find the clothing we clothing we actually needed. oh my gosh, yes. If there are sequins in a 1-mile radius, C will find them. We don't really buy or wear that kind of thing so I get the appeal, but it does take a lot of time! eta: maybe I should buy her a shirt or purse or something so it will lose the novelty factor!

cagoldi LT for support, not "like" that you feel drained! tallb I distinctly remember my discharge instructions after B stated no driving for either 10 days or 2 weeks. I assumed it was b/c they'd prescribed painkillers, but I'm also a lousy patient and did some driving that first week. And I was out driving maybe 3 days after C was born...whenever her first appt was, b/c I took her to that solo.

cagoldi I'm sorry P is making this so rough. Obviously not knowing the entire story, I know what I told my XH, that kind of sealed the deal and made him understand where I was, I told him I wasn't happy. That we both deserved happiness and we were making each other miserable. That I loved him, but wasn't IN love with him, like a married couple should be. That seemed to make it sink in with him. It wasn't meant with malice, but honesty. I hope you can figure something out so he quits doing this with you. It isn't fair to either of you.

Let me tell you all something “funny.” M pick Josie up in the afternoons from school. He does not pack his car with snacks or drinks, and Josie does not ask for snacks or drinks on the five minute ride home. However, as I pack the car to take the cat to the vet Charlie (who you could substitute for Josie in this scenario)has requested yogurt raisins, gold fish, and pretzels to accompany us on our 10 minute trip to the vet. Does this happen anybody else’s house?

I’m sorry for the rough morning. cagoldi guster Did they come see your kids after they were born? They did. They were here within a day of the birth. With Josie, they stayed at our house while I stayed at the hospital and help to take care of the dog and keep the house clean. With Charlie, they stayed for the first five days of his life. Far too many days for me, and it’s almost as if I didn’t know it was happening before they invaded the house. They’re very good siblings to MH. They just live a very different lifestyle than us so it is nothing for them to pile in the car drive 10 hours and then sleep in our basement for days.

guster,Cadence requires snacks or a toy. If she started at the house and we are going somewhere, she'll pick up a random toy as she is leaving. If I am picking her up from school, there should be a snack, possibly 2, and a drink. If not she will be pissed and request we stop at Walgreens or 7-11 to buy said snacks. We live like 2 minutes from school. It takes longer to get to 7-11 than it does to get home. If mh picks her up she doesn't ask for a snack, but is still pissed that he didn't know to automatically bring one. Girl is hangry after school.

I was told this after both kids. I was also told no stairs. What do people do who live in apartments or their bedroom is on their 2nd floor? I obviously did not abide by these rules.

I invited the neighbors to come over to play after the girls get done with school so I need to spend the next hour and a half cleaning and picking up. Their first impression of my house wasn’t a good one and I felt very embarrassed about it. Aside from that there’s a touch a truck event tonight we might go to or maybe host another fire.

I do want a few florals, but all the fall wreaths are so big and gaudy with pumpkins, leaves, pine cones, etc. The one that I most like is at Pier One, but I think it’s too big to have two of them. Also a little more than I want to pay since I do need two. I may just have to settle for the leaves/berries kind. I’ve been to HG, Kirklands, at home, HL, Michaels, and Pier One all in the last week.
