Hi everyone. This is not my first miscarriage, but my symptoms are not quite the same as last time and I don’tknow whether I'm right to be anxious. TW: graphic description of miscarriage.
Following a positive test in mid-May, I had an ultrasound on June 21st where we found that I was expecting twins. I am difficult to scan because my womb is retro tilted and I have a number of fibroids.
I had occasional dark brown spotting from the beginning of this pregnancy. Over the course of last weekend the spots turned red. On Monday evening I went to bed early, then suddenly heamorrhaged. After a night in hospital, a scan confirmed that I had lost both babies. The consultant said that she thought there was very little left to lose following the heamorrhage and that I would be fine at home with dihydrocodeine and paracetamol (which I think is called tylenol in the US?) to manage the pain.
I am still bleeding a lot. This morning I thought it had slowed down, but this evening I suddenly passed a large amount of clots and tissue. Last time I bled for a further three weeks after emergency surgery. It's the quantity that I find surprising and somewhat alarming rather than the duration. But I'm not sure whether this is within the range of normal for a miscarriage.
The one good thing to come out of this is that since I have now lost five babies in thirteen months (two miscarriages and two chemical pregnancies), the gynecology department have agreed to investigate possible causes.

TW graphic details: If you are soaking through a pad in an hour you need to call your OB/nurse line or go the the ER. This is what I was told when I was miscarrying.

I'm so sorry for your losses.
With my loss I hemorrhaged very suddenly and was soaking through pads every 20-30 minutes for the first few hours. It then tapered down to a moderate flow, nothing beyond a normal period for me. Every time I would pass clots though I would gush a bunch again and swing a fever. My doctor's only concern was the intermittent fever that resolved itself after about three days.
Definitely call your doctor if you're concerned about anything relating to the loss. They'll talk you through it and if it's a cause for alarm either bring you in or send you to the ER.
Good luck with your testing.

I'm sorry for your losses.
Soaking through a pad an hour, pain, fever, lightheadedness are all things to look out for. Take it easy, rest and stay hydrated. It's always suggested to contact your doctor, there is never a wrong or silly reason to contact them during a miscarriage.
