I would pick the middle one of the 3 your have, or go for a slightly lighter cool toned one if you’re worried about the yellow undertone. I like a bit a of warmth though. vino

vino I like the stain on the far left...it seems like a combo of the middle and right ones.

Definitely the two on the left vino. I like the middle the best. From the picture it doesn’t seem too yellow, especially compared to your current floors, but the far left isn’t too dark at all.

vino make sure to try them in different lighting. I agree about the yellow in the middle so I’m leaning left.

We are going to start repainting our house room by room. The paint the builder used shows every fingerprint and doesn’t wash well when wiped down so it looks dingy. The baseboards and doors are good still so I am just looking at doing the walls. What kind of paint should I be looking for and what finish?
We are starting with the three bathrooms first and they are all small. I tend to lean gray/blue but I would like to be open to other colors since I think our main interior color will be a light gray. Any suggestions?
We are hiring this out btw.

I am now a fan of Ben Moore paint after using it myself(thanks flamingo!) but if someone else will paint, it probably won’t matter. 🤷🏽♀️ I also go for eggshell because it’s easy to wipe and not shiny. I am not helpful when it comes to colors. Sorry!

wedding Ben Moore is also my first choice, I like an eggshell finish for most rooms b/c it is cleanable but not shiny, maybe a satin for bathrooms/wet areas (sounds like you may have flat paint which is not great for most applications). Sherwin Williams is also a good brand but I tend to prefer BM's colors for whatever reason. If you have questions I'd talk to employees at a paint store. I've seen painters give a lot of bad advice over the years. You can get a fan deck from either of those brands I mentioned and I might start there, they're usually around $25 or so. That way you'll have access to all the colors and can compare in your home/light.

I used Behr ultra satin paint in my living room and kitchen and I’m very happy with the look and sheen. As to the color of your bathrooms, whatever you do please don’t use straight green. It makes your skin look horrible. I did some research and the internet told me that pink is actually the best color for bathrooms. That being said, mine are a mint green/blue in the main, ivory in the basement, and sea salt (blueish gray) in my bathroom.

Does anyone have a wall tree for the entrance that they love. We have this really blank spot in the entrance and am thinking of this one: I like that it has a flat base as I think it'd be more secure and I like that I can put the kids baskets on the bottom instead of the shoe rack look like others.

vino I don’t have one, but I can say I don’t like my mud room area, but more because it’s a free for all drop spot with Mh and the boys. Hats, bags, winter gear, outside essentials. I tried to have a system and bins, but no one pays attention. I think it may be the actual set up. If we had drawers instead of an open top bench, it would probably be better. If that was visible from my living space, it would drive me batty. You probably don’t keep as much crap, so my dilemma is probably not going to be your dilemma. All the pretty pics of mud room and drop areas had me fooled.

lahdeedah That’s too bad that no one respects an organized drop zone! It could be life changing if they did. This is my entrance right now with my sad little bench. I used to have a stick like star craft thing (i know great description) on the wall but MH apparently HATES it. The kids each have a bin and use them so anything more would just be normal for them, but look prettier and serve the space better. The hooks would he an addition but it would mostly serve for the morning as we’re getting out of here cause it seems there are just bags all over the entrance. The hockey tape on the wall are the two different heights that I’m looking at lowest and highest I’ve found.

I think it would be a nice addition to the space. If the bins are all you have, your space would stay tidy. Do it.

vino I've thought about something similar. I say go for it. (FWIW based on the tape marks you put up I think I like the idea of the taller one?) We have a good-sized laundry/mud room with two rows of hooks (courtesy of previous owners) which we have been using for backpacks, pool bag, etc. There is also a countertop and that's where I usually end up putting my purse/whatever else I drag in. B/n the laundry room and the kitchen is a hallway with kind of a wide, open area with a big blank wall, on which I currently have a small chest and mirror. I kind of want to live with it and see if we could use more storage there, or if the decorative stuff is OK. This is the one I pinned on Pinterest, lol.

flamingo The one you’ve got saved is gorgeous! Thanks for your input on the height. MH and I discussed quite a few options yesterday and we think the higher one would look better in the space, also because he is 6 4” we are always mindful of that.

I always see these things with shoes on it. So do you sweep out that cubby frequently? I also feel like they don’t hold shoes so great in terms of volume unless they are in a bin or drawer so now you put your coat up but shoes elsewhere?
I have contemplated these but we don’t have an entryway or mud room so I would have to see hanging coats and it would drive me nuts so I have hooks and a shoe rack in my garage for the way in. Bags go in the closet next to the garage.

wedding Mine would not have any shoes on it, for all the reasons you listed. They have their bins that have their seasonal hats, sunglasses, mitts, touques etc. We have a really deep hall closet that holds all our shoes, coats and that stuff would stay there. This wall tree would be for the day to day movement in and out of the house. Daycare bags with lunches, school backpacks, for example he has a soccer bag with all his stuff if he had soccer that evening I'd put that up for a quick grab instead of laying it on the ground and walking around it over it, etc.

wedding we keep shoes in our bedroom closets, or if the kids have dirty/sandy shoes they'll leave them in the garage til I can clean them up. eta: We are not a 'shoeless' household, though...95% of the time, DH and I have shoes on inside. The kids are usually barefoot, because #floridalife.

vino, we have a large laundry/mud room off of our garage and MH built something similar that spans one of the walls. I love it. We do keep shoes on the bottom two shelves (I figure no different then keeping them anywhere else inside, especially since dirty ones stay in the garage). I pull the shoes out when I'm vacuuming/mopping. Then we have a wall of hooks (Current coats we are using, backpacks, our work bags, ect), then two shelves on top that store a variety of things (a basket of hats/gloves, extra Costco snacks, ect). It's great!

This is my “mud room” situation. It’s actually the pass thru laundry room from the garage. The closet on the left has the vacuum, ironing board and some more of DH and my shoes in it. Getting the kids to actually put things in there was a giant fail and that’s why we put up the hooks. The high books are for DH and me to put our jackets and things like the pool bag, diaper bag. There are 2 lower hooks (I’ll get the matching 3rd one for V eventually) that the girls can hang their jackets and backpacks on. H keeps her stuff mostly in the closet by the front door because that’s how she leaves to go to the bus. That basket is full of the kids shoes, in the winter I have a basket with winter accessories that I put next to it, and then the grown ups line our shoes up along the wall. It’s not the prettiest/most organized but it works.

We have Stonington in our bedroom and I love it. It reads a pretty solid cement gray. I liked it so much I chose it for my bosses office and with his light is looks baby blue.

I'm not a huge grey person so I'm probably the wrong one to weigh in , but I like the top right best, too. I think it's the warmest of the 5. Bottom right is too blue/cold for me, bottom left seems to have a greenish cast and I think would feel very dreary (esp. in winter where you are).

Let there be (new) light! Before: After! (These spaces are nowhere near done and please ignore the navy study, that is next on my list to change 😁) ETA: also the random sconce in the one pic will go as soon as I figure out what to replace it with—DH or my dad can do those for me

Ooooh pretty! Is that foyer fixture gold? flamingo My entryway had almost exact same ugly bowl type fixture. It was the first fixture to go. Every house I have been in with that type has old dead bugs in it. HATE!
