Is it okay to let H dress up as Maui for Halloween? M wants them to have matching costumes and H loves Maui. I'm seeing mixed things online about it.

Pipsqueak is roaming freely today. I was unable to diaper him so fingers crossed he isn’t pooping up a storm. He’s pretty great about going in his box, though.

WTFBBQAJDOFKF!!!! I just found out my bonus for my main job is also having issues!!!  It's been delayed, but now I found out it may not be authorized. I blame Trump because I need someone to blame. Does the military not want any mental health services? WTF. Cannot like this. Did he reroute the funds to build the wall instead?? WTF????? |

First I was going to ask what he costume would look like, thinking he would dress up like the Hawaiian island of Maui, not the character. I think he'd make a cute Maui! They're like pajamas. He's already turned down a Buzz Lightyear/Jessie, Woody/Little Bo Peep and Jack/Sally. |

I’m hoping M loses his other top tooth before school pics in two weeks because it looks so crazy. It’s a little wiggly tooth that looks so weird hanging in because I think his gums have swollen or gotten bigger as the top teeth descend. It looks so lonesome.😂

tgrimes, oh... That’s interesting. That’s actually my plan for N and H for Halloween too! (And baby will be getting a hei hei hat lol) I don’t understand why Maui would be inappropriate and not Moana so I’m going with it. ETA: is this the second time mine and yours will be the same? Beauty and he beast a couple years ago too? Haha

tgrimes I've read the articles before too; maybe I'm missing something, but I think it's fine for kids. I consider it an opportunity to talk about other cultures. Madison got a traditional Chinese dress in Chinatown when we were in Victoria. She really wanted to wear it on the first day of school and we gave in. I think it can be done respectfully.

tgrimes, I would think it would be fine, I really doubt anyone is going to side eye it. I never understood the appropriation argument for Halloween costumes. It's Halloween, you dress up. So maybe I shouldn't let her be Moana either. I don't know. |

Hi! Another good day for B. His teacher has a classroom twitter page, so I joined and stalked all the stuff she's done with past K classes. Some really cool stuff--I am excited for him! C starts tomorrow and is super excited to wear her new dress and shoes. Like mother, like daughter, I guess! inthekitty B's teacher last year was a bit...dour, to put it kindly (and that is really kind). His teacher the year before was also not particularly warm and fuzzy. He loved both of them. So maybe the stand-offish K teacher will surprise you. tgrimes I just don't get the fuss about cultural appropriation in terms of kids' halloween costumes (other things, sure). So I would not judge if a little Moana and gang showed up at my door, lol. |

I am more concerned with that type of appropriation than kids playing dress-up yet I've seen way more hoopla about Maui. *shakes head* |

Mine was a mess too. I had headgear--headgear! I was like the geek in the 80s movie with a bad feathered mullet perm thing going on. I would like to see a picture of this It may horrify you. I don't think I have any pictures in headgear because I don't think I let my mom take any. I was so happy to finally be done with that thing and promptly threw it away. There are plenty of bad hair pictures of me though. I'll look next time I'm at my parent's house. |

I went to the gym today for the first time in...weeks? I can't really remember. I was on the back extension machine and felt my lower back pop, and not in a good way. Like, it made me completely stop moving. I felt okay, so I finished my reps and moved to the treadmill. After sitting at my desk for a few hours, I'm so tight. I just sent my husband a text to see if he still has any muscle relaxers. This could be a long night.
Why is getting old such a bitch???

I actually read today that DoD construction project funds are being averted to fund the wall. No joke. M is currently having the biggest tantrum in her room. I’m sympathetic to the fact that she needs to adjust to a new schedule routine, but I’m not going to let the eye rolling, jotting and sticking her tongue out continue.

tgrimes I think it will be ok. It might be cultural appropriation but chances are not one person will say anything to you/him. If you are comfortable with it, do it. I took the girls to the first night of dance class tonight. I am the hot mess express so we were late, of course. They both loved it.
