Today is DD2's first day of school and she is so excited!
As for me, my co-teacher and I start our home visits today and I am really anxious about it.

This is the last week of DS’s time at the center he’s been at since he was 1.5 years old. 😭 I’m having some feelings.

I finally got DD to nurse last night after some hesitation. Today she nursed no problem. I guess the strike is over lol.
We've done one nap yesterday and today and it seemed to work. She fell asleep in the car this morning for a few minutes so she was still tired but I think she will adjust. I'm going to try an earlier bedtime tonight since she's not taking a second afternoon nap.

MH said the baby had a rough night and he had to give him tylenol MOTN. I'm hoping it's just teeth and not his ears.

Charlie has not napped the past 2 days at daycare. I have no idea what is going on. He takes two 1.5 hr + naps with us on the weekend. He apparently falls asleep for 5 min and then wakes up pointing at stuff and they can't get him back to sleep. He was up at 5:45 this morning. I nursed him in the dark but I don't think he fell back asleep because he was very wiggly. Just sleep child.

I'm tired. I have not been sleeping very well this week. I have been in bed by 10, but it's closer to midnight by the time I fall asleep. Part of me feels like getting up and being productive. There are just so many things going through my head.

C was pretty upset last night when I got him home but we gave him motrin and he drank a whole cup of water with an ounce of prune juice, pooped, and was happy again. So maybe a combo of needing to drink something, poop, and teeth. He hadn't pooped since Saturday. MH said he was fine all night so that's good.

The kids are giving me a run for my money right now. Zach had been congested for like 3 weeks. He didn't have any other symptoms though so I just watched him. Then he started breathing hard and fast so I took him in. He has an ear infection/maybe sinus infection. She said their sinuses aren't very well developed at this age, but it was possible. He's on antibiotics. He keeps getting bit at daycare. He doesn't cry when it happens so they don't catch it until the bite marks show up later. I'm irritated, but also realize that biting is normal toddler behavior and there's not much to be done about it.
J's teeth have been bothering him with brushing so I took him to the dentist. The Advair he is on for his asthma is pretty much rotting his teeth. He lost a piece of a molar so they put a spacer in and we'll have to put a crown on it next week. They don't have tooth colored crowns. I don't want my baby to have a mouth full of silver so I'm irrationally sad over it. The dentist recommended we start doing fluoride treatments and cleanings every 3 months for both boys since Zach is also on an inhaled steroid. In the mean time, pulmonology says it's not the Advair and to just keep up with brushing. The dentist and a quick google search say otherwise and we're already doing everything we're supposed to be doing in terms of oral hygiene so I'm frustrated.

DS and I stayed home yesterday - he had a reaction to his MMR vaccine that caused a fever and rash, and also I was ready for a day off.
Reminder that the reaction to that vaccine usually occurs 3-10 days after it has been given, but usually at the one week mark - it was like clockwork for us. It was especially interesting because he got a dose early, when he was 9 months, because we were travelling.
I'm glad I kept him home, because he slept from 9-10am (in the stroller, while I was running/walking/confirming with the nurse this is a normal vaccine reaction), 11:30-1, and 3:30-5:30. His fever broke during the last nap.

Today is DS3's birthday. I just remember I never wrapped his gift. Giving him a gift today just never crossed my mind until right now so thank goodness I snagged something several weeks ago.

There are just so many things going through my head. Hi life twin. Besides taking me what feels like forever to fall asleep, I wake up 4 or 5 times. I see every hour or every other hour most nights. I guess it's the combo of it being hotter in my mom's house and sharing a room with Charlie. I've been doing work after the kids go to bed. I really need to go to bed when they do. But I NEED my down time after working all day. Hopefully our bodies give up the fight soon and just pass out from exhaustion.

So babies - 2 are together. I wasn't crazy about it when he was smaller but it was our only other option. He did sleep 40 min today but his teacher said he giggles and laughs like crazy when they lay him down. I guess he's deliriously tired???

Z has been bit 4 or 5 times at daycare, hard enough to leave bruises. They said the kid doing the biting needs to move up to the next room, but I'm not sure when that's happening.

C got bit for the first time today. His note said 'a friend was using C's hand to sign 'food' and bit it'. I didn't even see any marks on it.

How long are you all brushing teeth for? DD hates it so I try to get in several good scrubs but then keep it moving. It's so tough to brush them when she's squirming everywhere and upset.

We have a finger brush and a banana brush. I often hand him one during a diaper change, and then scrub his teeth a bit afterwards. I'm maybe not doing the gold standard of dental care, though.

I give her the toothbrush and she chews on it and then I take it and give a few scrubs on top and bottom. So far she is okay with me doing it because it makes funny sounds.

Honestly I rub the top and bottom of his gums a few times, try to get the front and back of each area of teeth a few times, and a quick tongue scrub. That's it. I figure that's better than nothing.

he is always desperate to get his toothbrush when he sees his brothers doing it.

He hates brushing his teeth so I try to get a few good brushes on all of his teeth, tongue, and gums, but I don't think it's more than like 30 secs to a minute. We use fluoride toothpaste about the size of a grain of rice on a regular baby tooth brush.

cara, I do the same as you, try to get in as much as I can while she tries to squirm away. Is it okay to use fluoride toothpaste when they will swallow it? I wasn’t sure if I could use it or not.

I need to get better at it. I mainly do it after her bath. I need to pick up another toothbrush (and toothpaste) to keep in the other bathroom so she and DD1 can brush with H before bedtime.
