Its August, how?!!
We are having a good summer. We have been spending every weekend at the beach which the kids love but its so much work packing and unpacking every week. We are on vacation next week and are headed down Saturday without the kiddos for a night so that will be amazing! Man, I need a break.
How's everyone else?

Hey hey. Im having trouble keeping up the last few weeks. Ive realized its 2 weeks until i go back to work and have been trying to make a dent in my summer to do list. Its not easy since i basically have 1.5 hours per day to do it while j sleeps.
We went to the pool yesterday which was nice. Today we are having dinner at the mexican place with my coworker who has a little boy j age. Friday we have a playdate.
Im freaking out a little about j starting school/daycare. I just ordered a pottery barn lunchbox and bookbag for him.
J is babbling and repeating some words we are saying and my speech patholigist friend isnt worried abiut his speech so that made me feel better.
Do you all have potties set up for your toddlers? Where do you put them and which one do yiu have? I need to get one.
I think we are buying j a bike for his bday. Any recommendations?

We have the radio flyer tricycle from D1 but i'm thinking of getting her a balance bike. I posted on the toddler board about them and got some good feedback and recommendations about them so I am likely going that route.

jt2378, that sounds like a good summer! And yes to alone time with your H! We need that so badly as well. We havenβt had a date since March. Itβs definitely showing up in a relationship. Luckily we are going out on Friday alone. king26, we have our potty set up in our guest bathroom where A bathes. Heβll sit on it when we go the bathroom and before he takes a bath. He hasnβt shown much interest, but recently has been telling us when he poops. Oh hi twin. Our last date was March too lol. I hope you guys get a break soon! Happy birthday to A! Hope yβall had fun yesterday π

We keep saying weβll hire a babysitter, but then we get nervous and also the added cost. OMG yes, us too! MH is pulling his hair out staying home with them 3 days a week and us never getting a break. He must say 10 times a week we are hiring someone, LOL (same as you, the cost and don't really have anyone we know but have considered using care.com or something)

king26 For DS we had the radio flyer tricycle- L wants nothing to do with it now though. I got a Strider bike from a friend, and she can ride it on her own now! I would recommend a balance bike- our neighbors kids were able to go right from a balance bike to a regular bike with no training wheels by 4. I would also just get one of the potty seats that go on top of a regular toilet and a step stool, so you donβt have to transition from a floor potty to a real one. Right now I let L sit on the potty before bath time, which she asks to do bc she sees her big brother do that.

Yes I second the seat right on the toilet like pennylane said. That is what we used with D1 and it was fine.

So J decided he likes to see his pee stream in the tub. So I grabbed his ass the other night when he was about to start and was intending to put him on the toilet but his older sister was on it so I had to run and get our road potty. He thought this was amazing and when his sister was done he would climb between the little potty and the toilet then in the tub out of the tub on the potty. I thought he was going to crack his head open.
Today he ran to the bathroom twice to try and use a potty but sat on them fully clothed then peed his diaper. So progress in a way...

H starts his new job/day shift Monday. R starts day care, too. Itβll be interesting to see how it all goes.
We picked up a backpack I ordered for R and she tried it on when we got home. R looked in the mirror and then ran to put her shoes back on. She got such a sad face when I explained she wasnβt going to school yet - she threw her shoes. Every morning that T leaves without T is a battle, since R wants to go too, so I think she will be happy to finally go somewhere.
Rβs birthday is Wednesday and we still havenβt planned her party at all. I keep trying to get H to discuss it. We havenβt even really confirmed that we are doing it next Sunday and we havenβt told any family...

Two questions. Has anyone flipped the carseat forward facing? Im not planning on doing it in my car but we are going to do it in dh truck when j turns 2 because im eating the dashboard in his truck currently.
Do your kids still use highchairs or are they in boosters at the table now?

Of course the olds are already commenting we can switch her at 2 but Iβm in no rush, she is content as is. Iβm sad to say we seem completely done with highchairs. She has been using a booster or insisting on just a chair which is a huge mess and PITA but you know how that goes lol π€·π»ββοΈ

Iβm not sure how long we will leave R, since she often throws tantrums when being put in the seat - I might switch her to see if she is calmer in the seat. We use both. R will seat in the booster seat for T when T isnβt using it. She also uses her high chair pushed to the table - no tray. Iβve talked about switching to a booster, but havenβt spent the money yet.

we are in booster seat at the table only. the high chair is in storage now. we are going to flip N sooner rather than later. We will flip our nanny's first and then whenever we get around to mine, and probably DH's last since he rarely drives in that car.

N faceplanted outside our front door off a step into concrete so he has a heck of a scratch on his face and lip and had a big fat lip that has gone down a bit now thankfully. he cut the inside of his upper lip, too, i was so thankful his teeth didn't break through his lip. It happened b/c he was trying to take his stupid shopping cart out with him for our walk and he tried to take it down a step even though i told him to wait while i was getting the stroller... anyway now he just points at his shopping cart and says NO NO OWIE and points to his face. So at least we don't have to take the shopping cart out with us for every walk now but my poor kid, he was bleeding, and sobbing, it was bad at the time. woof

A was sick for a few days and it was awful. He was in pain from the fever and inconsolable. I even took him into the doctor because I was concerned it was something worse. Fortunately just a virus. He rarely is ill and Iβm hoping this winter is mild. Poor guy. Glad he is feeling better
