PennyCandy, Although tough to see, I'm sure the meltdown was short and he's having a great day. What I enjoy about this phase is how freaking excited DS3 is to see me when I pick him up.

What shoes do y'all have for your babies? DS needs some by next Thursday when he fully transitions to the next room. He doesn't have any currently. Not walking yet. I'm assuming I need to take him somewhere to try shoes on. Lol.

I buy all mine secondhand, but I know Target carries the Surprize by Stride Rite so I'd probably start there if I were buying new.

And I have Target GCs so finding some there would be nice.

And I guess the Dillards by us has some Stride Rite stuff too. So I can look there too.

James kind of scared me tonight. When I picked him up he didn't look like he felt well and daycare said he has been complaining of a stomachache. He cried all the way home (30 mins.) Like huge, gasping sobs. He kept screaming ouch. When we got home he calmed down, but was sweaty and hot. He had a low grade fever. I ended up taking him to urgent care mostly because I have never heard him cry like that. Of course, he was fine by the time we got back to see the doctor. They think it was mayybe gas pains or viral. Who knows.

Any shoe tips in general? We were at Walmart and I grabbed a pair of slide on shoes that were $3. But we couldn't get them on with socks on his feet. They were a size 3. We got one on with no socks on and I could tell there was space with where his toes were. I don't want to go too big since he will be walking soon. Of course this is the first time we've had to jam his feet into shoes so we also probably need practice. We will go to Target with him tomorrow.

goldenbird , It usually takes time for them to get used to having shoes on their feet. I think the lightweight soft bottom shoes are a good way to start.

This is what I was putting on H to get her used to the shoes. I haven't tried with socks yet, but they would fit fine. She definitely isn't a fan yet. But her DD1 would go bare foot all the time if she could. www.robeez.com/robeez-grey-piper-panda-soft-soles/

I don't usually do socks at this age, but if I were to, DS3 would be in size 4. Without socks though size 4 shoes fall off. Room in the toes is fine. I bet the shoes are the correct size without socks, but will be quickly outgrown so have size 4 on standby.

We were putting shoes on DD without socks but her feet/shoes started to really stink so we starting putting them on. I figure it'll also help her get used to them anyway.

goldenbird I would take him somewhere to get his feet measured. Both of my kids have had very chubby feet. We always had to buy wide for DD. I would not have known that if we hadn't had her measured. Charlie still isn't walking so I don't know about his feet, but it won't surprise me. Also, I think the Suprize brand only comes in whole sizes, so if he measures for a half size, you may have to get "real" Stride Rites or some other brand that sells half sizes. I try not to cheap out shoes at the beginning.

I appreciate all this thoughtful shoe shopping. My approach has been to go through the hand me downs and try stuff on. Unfortunately, DS has big feet, and our hand me down sources were early walkers, so the shoes aren't super appropriate for his developmental phase. We do have snow boots ready to go for this winter, though! (We live on the California coast, not a lot of snow here!)

goldenbird I just got a couple pairs of soft soles and a pair of striderite since she starting walking. She's petite and has tiny feet, a whole size 2. I wouldn't put on socks until the weather changes.

Thanks y'all. I don't think they care about socks as long as he will keep the shoes on.

Dd threw up Tuesday night, Wednesday night, and tonight and has had random diarrhea. She’s eating and drinking okay, nursing normally, and in really good spirits. No fever.
Can teething cause this? It’s so bizarre because she’s acting normal.

It’s so bizarre because she’s acting normal. it's probably a bug. When DS had the crazy poops in may we really thought it wasn't a bug because he was acting normal and eating fine and it was just runny, not watery. Also lasted nearly 5 days. But the doctor said it was probably a mild but long lasting bug. I hope it's over now.

Our only saving grace was that he had no fever and since it was just runny he could be at daycare.

Today was day 1 with no bottles/formula. He didn't seem to notice the absence of bottles and was satisfied with his meals and snacks. But he drank less than 10 oz of liquid total. That's not enough obviously. I'm nervous about dehydration. We can screw the bottle ring/nipple onto his avent sippy cups and see if he will suck down a bunch that way. I'm worried about how much he will drink at daycare though. I'm going to send 2 sippy cups with probably 10 oz total of milk and they will also offer water. I don't know that he will drink it all though.

Dd2 has had four teeth break through this week. Two on top and two on bottom. Plus she had the vomiting and diarrhea. Now she has a cold and pink eye. Poor kid!
She’s still in okay spirits though!

MH says C is drinking more today. Yay!
We ended up getting some soft sole shoes from BBB yesterday. I'm going to look at Target when it's not tax free back to school weekend lol. And I think I can talk my mom into getting him a pair of robeez.

Hope she's better soon kam3100! We started doing L's 2 daytime bottles in sippy cups yesterday. He drank them like a champ! Hoping we can totally ditch bottles in the next week or so and start transitioning from formula to WCM after his birthday next week. Can't believe he'll be 1 a week from today!

I would just try to keep her as hydrated as possible with all that fluid loss plus the heat.

Does anyone’s LO have a favorite food yet? Dd2’s favorite is bananas hands down. Her second favorite are baby carrots.
