Today was my dd1’s first day of school. It was madness. But she did great!

Ok, I don't know why, but becoming a school aged parent is giving me all sorts of anxiety.

cara, kids mature sooooo much during that year of Kindergarten. DS1 got noticeably better at being organized and responsible and he became a lot more confident, as well. DS1 has always been very high needs, so to watch him mature so much was honestly a relief for me-- just to be able to trust him with simple things like walking from the school dropoff spot to the door on his own and to start to see an end in sight to the high intensity of the first few years of childhood. i guess i'm showing my colors here as a touched-out introvert, lol, but i promise there are positives that you will begin to appreciate!

This. DS1 was seeing a urologist as a toddler. In kindergarten he developed these "episodes" where he was peeing several times an hour. I bypassed our ped and went back to the urologist. The urologist couldn't find a reason for the frequent urination and said it was likely caused by nerves from his change in routine at school. I suspect his was holding poop and causing constipation that then lead to the frequent urination. Kindergarten is just full of fun new challenges!
I'm glad to read we're not alone in this though.
I definitely feel much better knowing that my kid isn’t going to be only one in class who can’t wipe properly haha. This is one of those things that people don’t warn you about parenting. 😂 +1 to this. I was worried that I was still wiping my 4yr old.

Ok, I don't know why, but becoming a school aged parent is giving me all sorts of anxiety. I get it. You're losing more control over your child. I was used to talking to my kid's teacher almost daily in pre-k. I worried most about missing those informal check-ins. As it turns out, I didn't need them in K. DS1 told me the important stuff about his day and I could check in with is teacher by e-mail if I needed (I only did twice when DS1 relayed concerning stories). I promise kindergarten is a great thing! While he now knows about Fortnite, he's not as corrupt as I thought he might be after a year in elementary. There still plenty of learning and control at home.

I’m really hoping for this. My DS sounds pretty similar and I’m hoping Kindergarten will help him mature a bit.

I did kindergarten drop off this morning for the first time by myself. It was a nightmare. Everything went wrong. Ugh. OH no!! What happened? I got in the car line to park at about 7:31 (drop off is 7:30-7:45). I didn’t park until 7:44. So I rushed my daughter to her classroom and I’m holding dd2 in my left arm. First, dd1 fell and scraped her knees. Then I dropped her off in the classroom and the teacher spoke to me about the couple of issues we had yesterday (dd1 didn’t get sent to aftercare and ate her snack for lunch, typical 1st day confusion) but the teacher talked to me for so long that when I left they had locked all of the gates! So I started wandering around trying to find my way out. By the way, its 100 degrees out and humid (phoenix). Finally, two parents took pity on me and showed me to the front office. Then I tried to exit out of the emergency door. Sigh, I finally made it out and had to walk to my car which was on the other side of campus. When I get there, I put dd2 in the car and realize that we lost her pacifier at some point in that process. I’m traumatized lol

So, of course for the last few months, my periods have only been 25-26 days apart. According to my app, it should of started last Sunday. Plenty of time to be done (or at least finishing) by the time we leave for the beach Saturday. Guess what isn't here yet?!?! H wanted me to buy a test (negative). So because I bought the test today, it'll probably show up tomorrow.

kam3100, oh goodness. Drop-off shouldn't be so difficult. Will you be able to start dropping her off at the doors?

Well so much for my day off. The baby woke up with a fever. Like 100.6. I'm pretty sure it's teeth but still. I'm not happy. He's napping and I'm hoping he's in better shape tomorrow for his party.

oh no kam3100 ! is there a place where you can drive up and drop her off in the future without having to park (like in a few weeks after she's more comfortable)? dragging toddlers out of the car is such a pain.
edit: oop, sorry, i see this has already been mentioned

Good news, today’s drop off went much smoother. I just go there earlier and waited in my car. Seems like a lot of kinder parents do the same.
The school requires Kindergarteners to be walked to there classroom, so no drop offs.
I feel much better today.

I can't imagine any elementary school around here that has adequate parking for that kind of tomfoolery. DS1 couldn't be walked into the school past the 3rd day of kindergarten.
I'm glad today was better though.

we can drop them off from the car in the morning, but in the afternoon we have to park and walk up to the door and personally receive them (until they're in 3rd grade, i believe, then they let them walk out on their own)... it's soooooooo annoying. at least he gets out before the little kids so we don't have to drag them along.

i am so stressed by the state of our house lately. since DS3 has been walking he is just destroying EVERYTHING. the floor is littered with random crap. i mean we're babyproofed to a degree, but there are still toys and books everywhere that he can get at. we need to do major neatening up this week. not to mention another toy purge. i know this happens with every kid from like 12-18 months but every time it makes me bananas.
