I'd probably ask a pharmacist to be safe.

I have no firsthand info on this, but I always go to kellymom first with breastfeeding questions. I just glanced at it quickly, and looks like there are some numbers you could call, or potentially some websites to check out that have info on specific drugs. kellymom.com/hot-topics/med-risks/And my Google search also gave me a blurb that said wait 4 hours.

here maybe this will help "Prednisone is rated an L2-limited data-probably compatible. The amount that transfers into breast milk is 1.8-5.3% of your dose. Short term use is usually not a problem. The main concern is when it is high doses for prolonged periods of time that it may decrease the infants linear growth. We recommend for doses greater than 40mg to wait at least 4 hours to nurse, for your 40mg take it after you nurse and wait 2-3 hours to nurse as half of the medication will be out of your milk at that time. Some mothers are sensitive to steroids so it may decrease your milk supply, but it is usually when it is used at higher doses and for longer periods of time.

That is a copy and paste from infant risk forums. you can also call infant risk yourself if you want direct reassurance, but likely they will say EXACTLY what the above says, try to wait 2 hours or so before nursing. It takes about an hour to reach max in your system, so if you take your dose when you first start nursing, and then nurse as usual, by the time another nursing session is due, likely you'll be right about 2 hours or more, right?
