I’m on the shuttle on the way to work. I found out the reason that I’m staying isn’t that my replacement turned it down but a cost savings. We are in a spending freeze and they thought if they delayed it by a month it will show finance we are following the rules 🤷♀️. But it will happen next month since I have two projects that I have to do major things for on the OG team.

Happy Friday! Damn if the weeks following holidays aren't the worst!
Nothing exciting here today. I think a lot of people are out of the office today, so I'm hoping to split early. No plans at all this weekend. I may try to talk H and Evie into going to see Toy Story 4. She has never sat through a movie, so it may be a waste of money, but H and I really want to see it! Some of our neighbors are going to the drive in to watch it tonight, but their kid doesn't listen, so I don't think I'd enjoy it there. Plus it's going to be hot.

Morning! Ds was exhausted this morning. He was so sad that my sister was leaving again today, he couldn’t fall asleep, poor thing has his mother’s nature... Doesn’t blink when things physically hurt, but an emotional mess when having to say goodbye etc. We got him out of bed, gave him a popsicle and let him snuggle a bit more with my sister. After that i took him to our bed and the two of us fell asleep around ten, fine for me, way to late for him.
Two more hours at work and then vacation time! Sushi and wine tonight 🎉🎉🎉!

When I die I hope I can come back as nam2013 so I can have all of these vacations. I know ! I can take up to almost 7 weeks per year. This year I’m taking two extra weeks of unpaid leave for the trip to the USA. My other job is in the educational system, so 12 weeks per year, simply because schools are closed. Ps also moving to The Netherlands would be a much easier solution 😉. Five weeks paid leave is minimum over here.

Morning!
Happy Friday, lovelies. ❤️❤️❤️
Not much going on here. Sinny is getting groomed, I have a babysitter watching Poppy, and it sounds like I need to start cobbling together some kind of childcare plan.
Woof, harder than calculus, I swear.

5 weeks minimum paid leave is making my drool. I get 2 weeks and I'm 4 years away from a 3rd. That's also around the time my student loan forgiveness will come due. CAN.NOT.WAIT.

That sounds very stressful. Will this plan just be for the summer or will it continue into the school year?

I have some work to do bright and early today, then if I can I'm going to ditch out a bit this morning to go see a TKD demo my instructor and a couple of the advanced people from my school are doing. I was watching some of them practice last night and it was incredible. One of the guys went away to college last year and is back from the summer. The instructor got on a pile of mats and held a board probably at least 10 feet high (maybe 12) and he did this crazy 560 spin flip kick and broke it. He previously trained for the Olympic team. He is in ROTC and I was talking to him about the military. It was so adorable because he was worried about the exercise once he's officially in the military. I thought, my sweet summer child you'll blow them all out of the water.

She’s doing pretty good. She did have 1 seizure this morning, but it was a pretty typical 30 sec one. But I’m on high alert now with the longer ones. I am glad to know now that she tolerates the rescue medicine well. So I’m the future we won’t have to call an ambulance. I had Texas toast in the oven when it all went down last night 😬

We had MJ's pedi check up this morning. She's just 1.5 oz. shy of her birth weight. They were super impressed with that lol. And said she looks great, see you in a month!
I woke up MOTN with the worst back pain of my life- apparently it's normal from the spinal? I had no idea. Any advice for relief? I haven't had time to google as to why it happens. I'm wondering if there are stretches/exercises I can do to make it go away.

All of the above, I guess. 😂
Not until the new year, but with waiting lists being the way they are I have to get moving.
X’s program is only 8-11 M-Thurs, so I need to figure out something for afternoons and Fridays.
My mom is only watching Poppy through the end of December, so I have to get full-time care arranged for her. My sister would love to do it, but physically, it’s just not possible for her.

We do call Sinny their Nanny, but he can’t be bothered to devote more than five minutes of attention to them at a time, so it wouldn’t work out.

Hi from home! We got home just before midnight last night. I always hate travel days home... it was a long day. The kids are up playing in their rooms and I’m doing a little laundry. Not much else on the agenda today except stocking up on groceries. Dh wants to invite a few people over tonight but it will be after dinner so I don’t have to worry about hosting too much. Probably just a fire on the patio while the kids play outside.

Morning and TGI-effing-F, what a week! I'm going to skip the work vent and just say I'm exhausted, mentally and physically. Anyhow I was thinking of N13 this morning because I saw this cat hanging out around my house again. I saw it one night shortly after we got back from the Vineyard, rolling around in front of our front steps. Then today I caught it fleeing my deck and running through the yard towards the woods. People don't have outdoor cats here, it's not even remotely safe with the coyotes, bob cats, fox, and even bears. One of the neighboring houses sold pretty recently so I assume it's either the new owners' cat and they're idiots, or it's the old owners' cat and they're sociopaths who left it behind. Either way I hope I'm wrong and am keeping my eyes peeled for missing cat signs. And for proof that the poor guy is still kicking.

Hi!
I’m at work again and dragging! I hope it’s not too noticeable. I don’t want this dept to think I’m like this all the time. Inusuqlly have more pep in my step when working a new place, so this is not my normal. Long freaking week...

I’d just like to be retired. From anything. Only a couple more decades or so... Off to cry now. When I feel like having my life ruined, I use those “how much do I need for retirement?” calculators. Masochistic streak a mile wide, apparently.

I'd also be happy to come back as my MIL. But after she retired. I do not want to be an engineer. I’d just like to be retired. From anything. Whenever I talk to my BFF about work I say that I don't really need a break because it doesn't matter how long the break is, I won't want to come back. Like taking a 2 month sabbatical just seems like more misery to know how good life would be without work and then to return to it. I just need to win the lotto and never come here again. I'd be like in that episode of Reno 911! where they all won the lotto (there was a glitch so something like 1500 people won as well, so in other words the jackpot was going to be split a lot) and they all walk into their morning meeting one by one telling each other to suck it until they realize they didn't win much. Dr. Bob who works here is like 74 and still going strong full-time. Why I don't know. He's an MD with at least 4 sources of retirement income. He's a grumpy little old man who dresses like a hobo and apparently has no life or desire to have a life outside of this place. It's bizarre. I'll be throwing up the deuces the day I am eligible to.

I have a coworker that is 70. He doesn't want to retire because he said, "I would die at home of solitude if I retire." I.....would not have this problem. Both of my in laws had issues when they did early retirement. They just had to find something to keep themselves busy part time. My FIL does taxes (he's a weirdo) and my MIL does child advocates. Although I think she stopped doing that because it was too difficult on her emotions once she had grandkids. Now I think she does something called neighbors in action.
