I’m in the parking lot for work but would rather not be here at all. I’m doing 2 jobs since I’m suppose to be with my OG team but my current team still hasn’t gotten my replacement. I’m just over it.

I hope the day goes by fast chrisy01. I downloaded a hiking app and am having wanderlust at all the hikes I can't go on. Today probably cleaning then either swimming or children's museum before TKD.

Morning! Packing/cleaning/laundry should be occurring and yet I’m sitting here looking at houses for sale in our target neighborhood. Meanwhile, this just happened: I’m assuming they are Jehovah’s witnesses (they both had huge tote bags), although they didn’t leave any literature. The kids and I hid in C’s bedroom #mature.

Boys slept in until 8:30 after going to bed at 11. So I just dropped them off and now I'm at FIL's shop. I have a low tire so he's looking at it for me.

Morning! S and I had a blast at Toy Story (it was super cute) then we came home to find out B had diarrhea the whole time we were gone. But he seems to have recovered. No idea what's going on with that one. Anyway, we set up the sprinklers in the afternoon and the boys had a lot of fun.
After dinner I needed to go to Target so I took S with me. He fell asleep on the way home (it's a 5 minute drive) and was so exhausted that he decided he should go straight to sleep (almost an hour early). He passed right out and slept for 11+ hours! He must have been tired!
Today was the first day of camp, and all the kids were hiding behind their moms. Not S. He barely could find time to give me a hug before running off to play. He's so damn grown!

jewels so glad to hear Toy Story was good, I can’t wait to take the kids. Yall’s pics were cute! I love nights like that. C asked to go to bed last night at 6:45 (her usual time is 7-7:15, although it’s been on the later end the last few nights). She passed out in seconds after I turned out the light. 🙌🏻

Morning, Happy Canada day! 🇨🇦
We had our bbq party yesterday and it was fun, all kids were being brats a bit so I was a little annoyed by the end of it. Today we’re off and we might hit up some celebrations if it works around J’s nap. Other than that it’s a low key day with cleaning and food prep for the week.

I had a piece of metal in my tire so FIL fixed it for me. Love having a mechanic in the family. I'm going to make him a batch of cookies to say thanks.

Happy Canada Day to our northern friends! flamingo we do the same when someone we don't know comes to the front door. Since I can see them through the Ring, I never answer when not expecting someone. I don't know how door to door sales even works anymore...I feel like so many people avoid them! 3 day work week...I keep telling myself I can make it, but I also keep thinking about taking at least half day off Wednesday. I know my company will close early, so I hate to waste the time. But I also have a ton to do before Thursday and we are going to the Royals game Wednesday night, so I'm trying to figure out how to make it all work.

We are closed Friday and I was looking forward to spending the day alone since MH will be away. I just looked and realized DC is closed too, so B will be with me... I'm irrationally annoyed by this.

Remember when we were talking about taking a day for yourself while the kids were at daycare? So July 5 daycare is open but my office is closed. Then MH tells me he'll probably be off, too. Then a parent from daycare texts me that they're having a breakfast get together at their house with swimming and a pancake bar for the kids and adult beverages for everyone else. I debated on what to do because I really do like them, we've never hung out and they'll be going to the same elementary school. So I was honest and sent her a text. I feel like we’ll get along well.

I keep getting spam calls regarding health insurance, even got a couple of texts. They keep calling me Konstantin and thanking me for signing up online. I've blocked a million numbers and they are still coming in. They leave voicemails that are all the exact same automated message. Mh keeps saying I need to answer them and tell them not to call anymore. Pretty sure that isn't going to help.

Cadence has gymnastics camp this week. It's only until 12, so I'll be picking her up during my lunch hour and bringing her back to the office. She needs to learn early that this isn't the type of job she wants. LOL

So I had a not so great moment at dinner last night...
We went out to a mexican restaurant for my FIL's birthday. There were 10 of us at the table and it was pretty loud with music blaring over the sound system. We had already been there over an hour and my kids were doing pretty well. When they started to get annoying/whining/loud, my MIL gave them her phone to watch Finding Dory. They were both sitting on my lap watching it and I was talking to my SIL on the other side of the table. It was just me and the kids at our end of the table and there was a table of 6 perpendicular to our table. The adults are in their early 50s, maybe with a grandma and 2 kids that looked probably 12 & 14.
The dad turns around and tells me to get headphones for the kids because it's too loud. I turned down the volume and told him I didn't have any headphones. He proceeded to tell me how incredibly rude it was to let them watch something without headphones. I told him that I don't know any 2 year old that will keep headphones on and that I had already turned down the volume. He started talking shit to me again and I told him it was either listen to finding dory and he could listen to them scream. The wife turns around and says she'd rather listen to them scream because there's nothing you can do about that. Ummm, yes there is. They can watch finding dory. They both told me how rude I was and I told them very loudly that they were being jerks and if keeping my kids quiet was such an inconvenience to them, that they could move. Only 5 tables were occupied in the restaurant. I asked how the blaring music was okay but Finding Dory wasn't.
I watched both of them go talk to the manager separately. This poor kid looked like he was 20. He was polite and told me that people were complaining about the volume of my phone. I told him I was aware of the people that had complained, I had already turned down the volume and if they still had an issue with it, they could change tables. No table had gotten food yet. He went to their table, told them he'd comp their 1st round of drinks and he'd get a table ready for them. The couple continued to keep talking to me about it. I asked them to remember what it was like when their kids were little and wouldn't behave properly at a restaurant and they informed me they never had this issue. Then the lady waited until everyone from her table was gone and told me "It's called fucking phone etiquette." I'm sorry, did you just say the F word in front of my 2 & 5 yo kids? Bitch.
Anyway, I'm not proud of my behavior and I'm sure I embarrassed some of the people at our table. Even my MIL went over and tried to remind them they had little kids once, too. They were just assholes. I should have handled the situation better. Had the guy just been nice about it and not condescending to begin with, I probably would have just sent the kids to the other end of the table. But I chose to be a bitch out of spite.
TL;DR - I got in an argument with the table next to us at dinner last night because Finding Dory was too loud for them. It wasn't even that loud...

Then they get a new batch of spoofed numbers and it starts all over..

I don't know how door to door sales even works anymore...I feel like so many people avoid them! Right? We don’t get too many in the daytime here, but the handful we’ve had show up around dinner time (and they can see us eating bc the front door/windows have a clear view to our dining table 🤦🏻♀️) It’s usually house-related (roof, windows) so we can shut it down easily by saying we’re renters. The other day tho, DH got stuck talking to some guy mid-day for 10+ minutes. He is too nice. So finally I called from the back, ‘if were going to go to the 12:30 movie, we need to leave now!” and he was able to extricate himself and close the door. He gave that guy 9 1/2 minutes more than I would have.

Those ppl sound obnoxious tgrimes. I’ve never been in a Mexican restaurant that wasn’t so loud that it wouldn’t drown out any sound coming from a cell phone. 🙄 I think they were just looking to be jerks/find something to complain about.

tgrimes, I probably would have done the turn down fake out that Cadence uses when we tell her to turn down her videos. Or been all, "what? I can't hear you, this music is WAY too loud". People need to just stay in their own lane. They should have requested to move tables, not asked you to turn down the phone.

I usually yell "I could use some help in here!!!" Lol.

Ugh, I'm sorry for the shitty situation at dinner tgrimes. The couple sounds like grade-A assholes. I wouldn't stress about it too much. In hindsight we can always think about the things we could have done better but it's hard when you're put on the spot. You handled it as well as can be expected. I hope the other couple got massive heartburn followed by diarrhea from their meal and stepped on dog poop in the parking lot.

I get so many fucking robo calls at work. I always answer "Hello, this is Dr. Inthekitty," so it should be fucking obvious they've reached a professional setting, but they carry on. I've gotten so used to a recorded message from "Brenda" that I say "Fuck you Brenda" as I immediately hang up. I've said before to humans this is a government workplace and to not call back, but of course that doesn't stop them.
Sometimes I mess around with the humans and make weird sounds and say it's a bad connection and I can't hear them until they hang up, or say "just a second" and set the phone down while I return to my work until they hang up.

inthekitty My H occasionally gets calls like that at work; when it's a human, he has some spiel he gives asking how they got this number, are they aware they're calling a top-secret government installation and all calls are recorded and traced, etc., etc.? They typically hang up quick

tgrimes I think you handled yourself well. That couple would have found anything to complain about. You were doing what was necessary to keep your kids entertained and not running around, causing a mess. I bet the other people at their table were embarrassed of their behavior.
