After I got off work we went to visit my dad and step mom. Then came home for supper, which we ate outside on the deck. Thunder and lightning started and then raindrops so we all went inside. I was inside of the garage just watching it downpour when I noticed my neighbor down the street was running around her front yard throwing out grass seed. What a dummy.

We had a good Saturday, we divided and conquered this morning with errands, sportball and grocery shopping. We each took a kid and were home by lunchtime with our days ‘work’ done.
MH took B to the library on J’s nap and he’s signed himself up for the summer reading program; read 6 hours and enter you name in for something, so he’s got his level 2 books ready to go and already coloured in 15 minutes from today.
I wrote all the thank you cards this evening after the kids went to bed and MH went for an hour walk around the neighbourhood with his new army boots to break them in....wild Saturday night over here.

Morning! Since father’s day was a disaster last week, we made an American breakfast this morning, pancakes, muffins, bagels with cream cheese & smoked salmon, eggs, cornflakes and skippy peanut butter. With solstice, summer arrived indeed . We up put the tarp to make sure the kids stay in the shade, filled the kiddie pool & set up the aqua play. This was all before 10.30, I’m done for the day 😂😂😂.

Good to get the seed down before a good rain storm.

We survived a full day with 6 kids yesterday. We spent pretty much the whole day outside so we all crashed hard last night.
We have a birthday party today so I need to go get a gift this morning.

Morning!
Our impromptu date night was great; we really liked the restaurant and our food was delicious.
We have a zoo birthday party after lunch today and I think we’ll get pizza or 5 Guys tonight. Otherwise DH is going to be working on ripping out the deck in our backyard 😬

Despite not going to bed until after 9 last night (usually goes at 7:30), C got up at 5:45. I slept until 7:30 then we went for a walk and got coffee. Dh is still asleep. I need to rig something to block the sun in Cs room so he sleeps later. He’s already up my butt about biking but it’s too early for me.
Nothing planned today. Biking and the beach. I also have to go into town for a prescription and am hoping to do that solo and shop a little.

She could have went out 15 minutes earlier and did it when it was dry. Besides, that heavy of a rain probably washed a bunch of it away and the coverage wouldn’t be very good. Their lawn isn’t established at all so nothing to hold it there.

Morning! I’m at work. I woke up in a panic that I was late, but it was only 11:30pm. It’s a good thing I did though because I hadn’t set my alarm. It’s been quiet this morning at work, which is ok with me. It’s supposed to rain again this afternoon, so we will probably spend the day inside after I’m home from work.

Their lawn isn’t established at all so nothing to hold it there. It wasn’t a down pour, more like it started raining and i ran out to finish putting seed down. My grass is established but we had some patches that needed to fill in. If she has dirt then yea she also needed to rake it in because, like you said, torrential rain would wash it away. All my spring seeding has given us a nice lawn for the summer.

Yeah, I would say that is different. I was actually planting something in my backyard and as I was finishing up it started sprinkling. I wanted to get it in the ground before the rain started. We seeded our lawn from scratch a few years back so I know how much it sucks to have all of your seed/dirt wash away.

No. This particular project won't cost us much, just time. The deck was big (20x20) and not only an eyesore, but a safety hazard (rotten wood, boards popping up). And so random...just this freestanding wood platform butting up to the neighbor's fence. DH sent pics and offered to do all the labor to remove it, haul it to the dump, and put grass seed down. Because we knew if we asked them to pay for it/have someone do it, it would never get done.

It’s a large sliding door so I think I’m just going to do a dark blanket over the rod at night. He’s being a turd today since he’s overtired and refuses to nap. It’s only 10am.

We got up and ready to go downtown on the metro to see Rescue Dogs at the Smithsonian, but j refused to drink his smoothie and was a but of a whiner, so that's on hold. I'm doing laundry and just painted the primer on one shutter, but now need a break bc it's in direct sun. I think I may suck painting. I'm hoping to bribe mh to go check out mattresses at some point...
