Mostly so I can talk to peaseblossom55 about toddler glasses 🤓 Dd had her six month check up today. Her strabismus is controlled by the bifocals so no prescription change! 🎉🎉 However her eye that crosses is starting to drift up when she looks sideways and it’s on the extreme side so we go back in three months. He did say surgery was usually the treatment plan in these cases so we shall see. My nephew is having eye surgery for his amblyopia in July so I’ll have the inside scoop then since I think it’s basically the same surgery. Are you doing sunglasses? Since we’re outside so much and at the shore a lot I’m looking into sunglasses. The ophthalmologist said in dd’s case she needs transition bifocals. Not a fan of transitions but for backup and sunglasses use, I’ll survive. So now I’m searching for a pair of frames that look more sunglasses-y. I think her current round frames with transitions would make her look like a serial killer.

Hi LakesWe are looking into getting E another pair of glasses with transition lenses and then having those as a back up pair too. We have an appointment in mid July they are dilating her eyes so we will see if she needs a prescription change too. Yay for no prescription change that is good. It sucks that she may need surgery at some point. It sucks for your nephew too. I’ve heard it’s no big deal and if it helps it’s so worth it. Nothing has ever been said about eye surgery patching has really seemed to help at least for now. We were supposed to start physical therapy this week for her toe walking. It turns out they booked us for occupational therapy not pt so we now have an appointment for 2 weeks out. When we tell her to walk with her heels down she does.

How is everyone else?
Anyone do anything great so far with the start of summer soon?
E had her first hair cut this past weekend took off 2 inches. Her hair is still wavy and curly though. Went strawberry picking and had her first big ice cream cone all to herself. This weekend she has her gymnastics demonstration and the following week we start soccer! She loves gymnastics but I think she will love soccer too. We shall see.

Hi guys! We’re having a good summer so far! We’ve squeezed in a long weekend at the beach and a weekend at my IL’s mountain house and have a weeklong beach trip coming up after the 4th. My new niece was born on Monday and I’m dying to go squeeze her cheeks. DS turns 4 in a couple weeks so I’ve been prepping for his Spider-Man celebration (having a Spider-Man entertainer come and he’s convinced it’s the REAL Spider-Man). All the superhero crap isn’t really my thing and I’m not thrilled about the theme but his excitement is contagious. M is killing me with her wit and sass lately. peaseblossom55 M had her first real haircut a few weeks ago and it makes her look so much more grown up losing the uneven ends. Here’s her before and after:

I am jealous of all the big girl haircuts. Dd’s hair is still so thin and it looks positively awful long so she’s rocking a bob. Except it’s so fluffy the back is always a knotty disaster. And when it’s hot out, it looks like she’s been swimming.
It looks decent from the front most of the time but the back? Yikes. I’ve started carrying a comb when we go out.
poof.

Pdq E after her haircut. I didn’t really get the back but her hair is still thin and a bit wavy but far less knots! Her saying cheese. She looks so odd without her glasses.

Lakes I love a little girl bob! I waffled big time on doing a big chop for M. With her long hair and no bangs, I French braid the top part every single day to keep it out of her face and that gets old! Also M’s is usually a crazy mess too so you aren’t alone there. It’s the worst after she’s been in the car for more than 2 minutes!

peaseblossom55 isn’t it funny how quickly glasses become part of them? It’s so weird to see dd without them now and it’s only been 7 months! It feels like forever, I can’t believe it’s been such a short time.

We don’t have eye insurance either.

Our insurance only covers one pair of glasses a year and the places don’t have good little kid options. But I could order the frames I wanted and get them filled there at least. But I really love and trust our non-insurance optician and am happy to give him the business (very well rated family business)...even if my bank account isn’t.

We spent the morning at the arboretum with a friend and then ran to the library to switch our books and ran into another friend. I have reached my social limit for the rest of the week.

Running into friends doing our normal day to day things is one of my favorite things. But then I’m exhausted afterwards. Being an outgoing introvert is hard! And making plans with other people with small kids is extra exhausting to me.

I’ve really started purging the little kid toys in anticipation of the influx that will come with DS’s birthday next week. I’m surprisingly emotional about letting this enormous little people race car track go even though I’ve complained about it since DS got it at 18 months. I have a trunk load to drop off at daycare but need to find a good time to sneak it in there when my kids won’t notice what I’m doing. And then to come up with lame excuses when DS asks where toys are 😬

Cutie alert! She LOVES them and is refusing to take them off. Guess she’ll be rocking sunglasses inside until the novelty wears off.
Pdq poof.
