Hey. We had a lazy morning. The high is mid 80s so I might take the girls to the pool, just depends if it thunderstorms as predicted or not. I’m going to make lunch in a minute then it’s nap time. H does some basic math, I don’t know if I’ve heard her do any multiplication or not. tallb could he be playing some sort of math game on his kindle? He doesn't have a tablet or play any games, but I did think about peg + cat or some other shows on PBS kids may touch on it. Oh yeah, there are a few pbs shows that do math. |

Sorry, I got back to work about an hour ago and was bombarded. I really like this doctor. She sat in the room with us about an hour going over everything we've done and been through. Couldn't do any labs today since he's still on antibiotics, which I assumed would be the case. I'll probably go back Monday to do blood work and then we need to schedule allergy testing and then a sweat test for cystic fibrosis. She also wants to do an advanced hearing test that he'd need to be sedated for so she said we could wait until he needs tubes again and do it at the same time. She asked me to give her a bit of time to run all these tests and for her to speak to the immunologist, ENT and pediatrician. Apparently my pedi used to intern for her, so that's convenient. She does think his total immunoglobulin level is low, even though the immunologist told me it was normal for his age. She pulled up a chart for me to look at with her and it's definitely low. She also thought the weekly antibiotic was odd. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can rule some things out and have a better idea of what is going on. |

tgrimes I'm so glad you have a doctor who seems to be really focused and taking H's health issues seriously. Hopefully this will get you guys on the right path for treatment.

My elementary school (private) switched to a math system at some point called Singapore math. I know Common Core math is taught differently (from the way I learned, anyway); FL officially ditched CC this year so I’m not sure how it’s taught down home. Or here, for that matter. Guess I’ll find out in t-minus 3 months 😂 ETA: handwriting is taught differently here than back home; the letters have more ‘curves’—I don’t know how else to describe it, I guess to prepare them for cursive. Our school uses the bridges math program, and I don’t think they teach cursive anymore. |

And I really like how the show is structured. It’s one of my favorites! |

I like this doc tgrimes ! Hoping she gets you some answers. She didn't even get upset when H had to pee in the middle of the appt. (Spoiler alert: He didn't. He just wanted out of the exam room.) |

The kids and I ran to the grocery store for a few things, and then played at the library for an hour or so. I came home and made peanut butter. I feel like a god for basically throwing peanuts in the food processor but how have I never done that before?!?

Bradley had one when he was about 2; it all came back normal but the standard hearing test the audiologist administered post-tubes had some question marks so they wanted to run one to be sure. Great update tgrimes! I'm so glad you finally have a good plan to move forward with! Common core is taught here...I will be of no help to Evie. I suck at math anyway, then add this newfangled way to doing it...sorry kid. Fortunately, my SIL and one of my best friends are teachers, so they can help me maneuver through it. |

tgrimes I am so happy, this doc sounds fabulous. I hope this is the beginning of huge turn around for H and his health!! As to math, I am a math geek and S already loves doing math. Like vino we incorporate math all the time into every day stuff. Also, both kids love Blaze and there's a ton of math in there. S just asked me if he could download ABC Mouse b/c he wants to learn more math.

Last night when I had to leave dinner without eating because of C, I ended up driving through McDonalds. There are 2 different ones near us and the one we went to last night has statues of Ronald and the Hambugler and those guys in the drive thru. T said “I don’t like this McDonalds because it has the creepy Donald Trump guy.”

We have one of the free ABC Mouse apps and it helped LO with the alphabet. I always wanted to get the full version but C said no.

There's a new ABC mouse program. Cadence had asked about it this morning due to a commercial she saw. This new one is by the same people, but geared towards elementary and middle school aged children. They are doing 1 month free if anyone wants to try it out. It's called Adventure Academy.
ETA: link ETA2: never mind. I see now that it is geared towards ages 8-13

I saw the dumbest ABC Mouse commercial the other day. The parents said something to the effect of "Before using ABC Mouse our son couldn't even recognize letters or their sounds." They were holding a kid who looked all of barely 3. Let me guess, he was probably still shitting himself and maybe occasionally biting others too because that's what toddlers do.

Maddie has access to some online learning programs through her school. One is called Prodigy and I forget the name of the other. She is obsessed and thrilled when she's able to use them. I remember the enticement of Oregon Trail and Number Munchers.

I'll wait for your review We downloaded it a week or so ago and I helped set it up, but honestly I've spent very little time with it. He tends to play it while I'm putting B to bed or in the morning while I shower. I'll attempt to catch a peak of it next time. |
