In the last 3 weeks J has refused his nap 4 times. Twice were this weekend while i was home and im exhausted. I had so much to do and counted on nap time. We ended up driving around for over an hour today so he would nap. I hate that. Anyone else have a toddler fighting naps? The crazy thing is every other day when he does nap he naps for close to 2 hours.
This weekend was nice. We met friends with kids at the park on saturday. J and i went to the park on sunday then we grilled out.
Tonight i thought i broke my toe. I ran into a chair and my baby toe is black and blue. It hurts to walk on it or bend it. Im so mad abiut it right now because im not sure i can put a shoe on for work tomorrow.
Also, our neighbors tree fell in the storms and crushed our fence and scraped up our shed. They are douches anyhow and have yet to say anything, or remove the tree, or ask about the damage. Im pissed because i know they heard it. It sounded like our freaking house was collapsing when it happened.

king26 I’d get some pictures of the tree and document what it looks like for insurance purposes. And then tomorrow I’d bang on their door and be like so when are you sending people to fix it? People suck.

king26 That sounds a lot like my broken toes back in December. I’d go get it checked out. I’m so sorry about the storm/tree damage too.

DS had his last day of preschool last Fri, so now I need to figure out a summer schedule for him and L.
This weekend I was looking at her and thinking she’s grown/matured so much in the past 2 months. She’s seeming much more 2 than 1. My last baby 😭. Still has a terrible habit of trying to eat weird things though.

king26, yes M randomly refuses naps but naps great when she doesn’t so I feel your pain. I’m sorry about your toe and the tree, oof. pennylane, I’m in the same boat. D1 finishes preschool tomorrow soooooo it’s going to be a long summer 😬. I had the same thoughts about M. She looks so much more toddler than baby. Time flies for sure!

J got his hair chopped and looks so grown up. Its crazy. My parents are dying because they saw him a week ago when it was long and said he doesnt even look like the same kid. We have the tree guy here looking at the trees. Still nothing from the neighbors. We took photos and videos of the trees and damage. I am so concerned about speech. J is now saying nothing. He makes noises and they have inflection but no words or letter sounds. addymac. Did you say if speech is helping? Ive done everything our speech therapist has told me to try and nothing. Im trying to let it go to see if summer helps but if by august he is the same i think we will get him evaluated.

Im trying to let it go to see if summer helps but if by august he is the same i think we will get him evaluated. It is. We’ve only had two sessions but the things she talked to us about really helped 1) put it in perspective and 2) see where we could do more. We also got homework assignments until the next session so that was nice, bc it gives me something to do with him. And we bought this book on her recommendation and it is really exciting to hear him starting to repeat the noises and the sounds and words. Highly recommend the book. Read the first page before you give it to him. It’s not a story book, it’s a use this book to teach them how to make noises and sounds and words. Eta: Noah LOVES it. We read it every day. Multiple times a day. Talk with Me! The Big Book of Exclamations 2 www.amazon.com/dp/0692559957/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_sjx7CbSQNDH1V

I’m glad the speech therapy seems to be helping so far@addymac and that N loves the book 😊 I’m sorry for the concern about J king26. Hopefully his speech picks up soon.

king26 I haven't been around in forever. An almost 2 year old and an almost 4 year old while in nursing school is no joke. But, I wanted to ask about tubes. I have no idea what J's history is, but our speech therapist encouraged me to ask about them last year for Oliver who was at least 6 months behind. He got them in October and it made such a huge difference. It's just something else to consider if his speech is the red flag your looking at. Hi everyone! We are all alive. Just super busy. Hope all of you and your little kids are doing well.

I know my brother had speech difficulties as a toddler and tubes + speech therapy made him on level by age 4 so when entered prek he was fine.

Hi everyone sorry I have been MIA a bit. Like others DD1s preschool ended so we have two days to sort out new routines plus baby girl got her first tooth at 4 months (wtf!) So her sleep is off. And I am now in Liberia for two weeks for work so I am busy in another way so I may not be around for awhile. nutmeg I was wondering about tubes too. Js voice seems off and his speech still seems delayed to me.

I tried just letting her stay in the crib, but she screams her head off and can almost climb out. Later bedtime just made her overtired and she was still getting up by 5. I’ve tried laying down with her or rocking her, but as soon as she sees me she is a chatter box and wants a snack. Maybe she’s sneakily getting teeth or something developmental is going on. I don’t know. I did order her regular bed, so maybe I could lay down with her in her room, once it’s all set up. I can probably squeeze the crib and bed in there for a bit and see what works.

Yeah maybe the 2 year molars. M has been shoving her fist in her mouth so my guess was that. Damn I’m sorry! I hope L can get it together soon.

How do I get L to stop waking up for the day at 4:30am? Ugh. No clue. J did the 5 to 530 wake up for about 2 months and it sucked. He just had to adjust on his own. For about a week i went in, lay on the floor, and held his hand until 6 then picked him up for the day. That seemed to help.

I would adore a 7:00 bedtime some nights but this time of year we tend to be out later since it’s light so late. 8:00 would be ideal. 9:00 hmmmm not so much.

Bedtime is 6:30-7pm here. Wake up is usually around 6am. I won’t get her out of the crib before 6am.

No snark but how do you all manage a 6:30 or 7:00 bedtime? I feel like I’m just finishing cleaning up dinner at 6:30 and she naps at like 2:00 most days. I’m assuming your kiddos are earlier nappers though too.

I’m assuming your kiddos are earlier nappers though too. R naps at 10:30am - usually 2-3 hours. My first was an early napper, too. But, both kids have always had an early bedtime. T was going to bed at 8pm, but I realized she’d wake on her own about 6:30am for school if I dropped it back to 6:30-7pm. Dinner is about 5pm. I pick T up from school at 4:15pm and she’s usually hungry.

Wow. I can’t even wrap my head around those dinner and bedtimes. I guess our work schedules are just not conducive to them so we never even tried those hours.
