Week/Fruit/EDD: 22w 5d/ Spaghetti Squash/ Sept 25
FTM, Etc: FTM
Appointments: June 5
Team (pink, blue, green, finding out): Blue
Milestones: Still pregnant!
Symptoms: Nothing new
Rants: I’m driving down south across California in a couple weeks for a baby shower by my family, I have to drive by myself and H is going to fly down the next day due to his niece graduating high school the day I’m leaving. I’ve driven that stretch a hundred times, but I’m still a little anxious doing it alone 6 months pregnant
Raves: Getting a lot done on the nursery! Just about done painting, H is getting ready to lay down flooring. Then the REAL decorating ca begin!! 🙌🏻
GTKY: What is your favorite guilty pleasure treat if calories didn’t count? A coworker recently exposed me to the costco brand of salted caramel macadamia nut clusters, and holy shit I could go down in a blaze of glory and eat a whole Costco sized tub. I had to exercise serious restraint not buying a tub the last time I was there, but it was HARD

Symptoms:
Rants: My FIL was making small talk at a family party this weekend and he said to me, verbatim, “guess you’re gaining a lot of weight now.” To which I replied, “uhhhhh, wow. WOW. Thanks for noticing?” 😦 FTR, I don’t think I’m huge, you know, just on my third kid, and in my later 30s. Whatever, even if I was whale sized, just not a thing one should say.
Raves: excited to finally pin down the sex of this baby and purge some closets.
GTKY: What is your favorite guilty pleasure treat if calories didn’t count? Salty carbs, I love chips and guacamole...and a jalapeño marg on the rocks. Omg, first weekend after I pop out this kid!!

Raves: I think I have a paint color picked out for the nursery! No idea when that'll get done though.
GTKY: What is your favorite guilty pleasure treat if calories didn’t count? Right now it's milkshakes because it gives me heartburn relief lol. But I'll take all the cookies, cake and brownies. My sweet tooth is bad lately.

Week/Fruit/EDD: 20w2d / endive / Oct 14
FTM, Etc: STM
Appointments: June 18th. I had a bunch in a row, so it's nice to have a little break.
Team (pink, blue, green, finding out): Blue
Milestones: Had my anatomy scan last week. Everything looks good, which is a relief. Being old, I was really concerned about problems, but NIPT, 2nd tri screening, and anatomy scan all came back normal, so I think I can relax for now. Baby is measuring quite a big larger than my due date. Dr didn't seem concerned enough to change my due date, but they did schedule me to come back for a growth scan to see if anything changes. He was right along with my due date at the previous u/s.
Also, I finally stopped trying to hide the bump from my students and started coming to work in straight body con (work appropriate body con, of course) maternity clothes. I'm kinda trolling my senior class because I know they know, but I haven't told them and they haven't said anything to me. I want to see when someone finally breaks down and asks. I'm going to start rubbing my belly and standing with my hands on my back and stuff to see what they do.
Symptoms: Aside from the constant peeing, I'm feeling really good right now.
Rants: re: finally wearing maternity clothes to work, an older woman I work with came up to me at break today and said, "Is that a baby bump?!" Then she went on to say, "I figured it must be because I know when you gain weight it's in your hips, not your stomach." Lady...did that really need to be said? Can't you just say congratulations? Yeesh.
Also, MH and I haven't even talked about names. He threw out one name I'm a little meh about and then we never discussed it again (aside from my son suggesting Baby Mickey Mouse as a name.) It's probably hormones, but I'm feeling like he's just not as into this pregnancy as he was the last one and it's bumming me out. I'm feeling a lot of emo feelings about our relationship lately anyway, so this is just another layer. Ho hum.
Raves: Woaaahhhh, I'm halfway there!
Also, talked to HR yesterday and some law has passed since I had my son that gives me significantly more maternity leave than the pathetic six weeks I had with him. I'm very excited to not have to rush back to work when my son is pretty much fresh from my vagina and I'm still wearing mesh underwear. (Ok, being a little dramatic, but six weeks is WAY too soon.)
GTKY: What is your favorite guilty pleasure treat if calories didn’t count? OMG literally any sweets. I have the biggest sweet tooth. Give me all the chocolate, for every meal.

It's on the 13th. I'm already panicking thinking about being in a tube for so long. I had an old fashioned MRI in the 80s, was also not impressed by the tube, but my mom got me a sweet Casio keyboard after as a special birthday/post-MRI treat. Hope yours goes well!

We had our anatomy scan today. They found an echogenic focus and some small amount of fluid around the baby’s heart. The midwife needs to chat with the doctor and call me back on Friday before we decide what to do, but now I’m spiraling. She said we should be encouraged that all our screening thus far has been normal, but my NIPT also came back as male (the surviving twin has been confirmed female) so I’m less comforted than I should be.

Oh no, good thoughts! What NIPT did you have done? They told me only one of them has yet to report an incorrect sex (panorama) so it is possible they were picking up the DNA from both twins and unable to distinguish from them

My paperwork says baby has an EIF also but I don't remember them really talking about it much. We did get an echo done and the cardiologist said her heart looked perfectly normal (as far as they can tell). They'll do an echo after she's born but overall they didn't seem concerned about her heart. Hope everything turns out ok!

I guess I’m just concerned about the percent of chromosomal material from each fetus, and there being less to determine normal versus abnormal?

I guess I’m just concerned about the percent of chromosomal material from each fetus, and there being less to determine normal versus abnormal? My understanding with that one is it screens the dna enough to be able to pick up if any genetic conditions exist; it just isn’t able to distinguish enough from multiples. It’s more looking at the numbers vs the content. So, while it’s picking up Y chromosomes, it also isn’t picking up any trisomies or monosomies. It just isn’t able to look at cell #1 and see that it isn’t the genetic equivalent of cell #2, if any of that makes sense

I’m not sure if this is correct either, but my concern was if the test looks at a “fetal fraction” of DNA to screen for abnormalities, and there are two babies (that are genetically different) contributing to the fraction, could the surviving twin not contribute enough DNA to come up with an accurate screening result. I just logged into LabCorp to check my results, and my fetal fraction was reported as 14%, which I think is pretty good? Googling tells me you can get inconclusive results when fetal fraction is less than 4%.

Both my singletons only gave 6-8%, so I would think you are okay on that front- the fetal fraction increases with gestational age
