My heart is really heavy today. TW young parent end of life stuff I've been helping out at another store because their manager is out with cancer and just recently another of the women in the dept has had her 31 year old daughter diagnosed with ALS. Her daughter has a ten month old. It is an aggressive type and she has a few months, maybe. I saw the woman this morning and expressed my condolences and it was just really hard and emotional. I think she appreciated me talking with her and just listening. I didn't really know what to say.
It's hitting me really hard because I'm the same age as her daughter with a baby the same age and have neuro stuff going on. I never know when or if that MS diagnosis or something is going to come. I know I don't have ALS but my god even thinking about their situation takes my breath away.
It's all so unfair. These things shouldn't happen to good people and they sure shouldn't happen to young people. 😭

Woof. I am so sorry goldenbird and sorry it spikes your anxiety. I know something like this is one of my greatest fears.

I think Charlie may be saying his first word! I recently picked up on him saying "uh-oh!" He will often say it right before he gets ready to drop his cup off his high-chair. Whenever he drops something, we say it now too and he will repeat over and over.
Yesterday, I was standing at the sink eating a strawberry while H was standing nearby holding him. He got really excited and wanted it and said "mama" like to get my attention. I'm not quite sure that was on purpose. It's so fun to see the language developing!

goldenbird, That has to be hard, especially when you can relate to her situation. A classmate of mine from high school was diagnosed with ALS in January and has two young boys and it’s been rough for them.

DD is one today! I can’t believe how quickly this year has passed. We had a mini celebration for her in the mountains on Saturday and her birthday party is next Sunday. I’m also grateful that we made it a year breastfeeding without formula. With DS, I started supplementing with formula when he was 2 months old and he weaned at 9 months. With her being a preemie, I was really hoping that we’d make it farther.
(And I think formula is wonderful as well but I had really hoped to breastfeed my DS longer so I’m grateful it worked out this time)

goldenbird I'm sorry and I get it. In February, an older high school classmate died suddenly at work and in earlier this month a younger high school classmate died from terminal cancer. Both had 2 kids around 1 and 3 and it hits home pretty hard.

I do not remember DD being such a good communicator at an early age, but DS is signing (sometimes) for more, all done, milk, and also doing things like making a car noise when he wants to play with the car he can see but not reach. It's amazing! It's making me feel better about his lazy ways (army crawling, not pulling up on anything yet) that he is developing his verbal skills instead.

HBD baby bananas22! Oh dear. I'm really sorry to hear about that situation goldenbird . How incredibly difficult and unfair. I'll be thinking of her and her family.

Looks like DD is starting to cut her two upper teeth. I'll be sad when her gummy smile is gone. She's still not pulling up on anything and really doesn't have any interest on standing, TBH. She's getting closer to crawling, at least. She's getting up on all fours and rocking.

H and I started seeing a family doctor for yearly physicals and sick visits. She did routine blood work and my a1c came back prediabetic. It was perfect just 6 months ago after having it checked at my OB after having GD. Thankfully, it's just a diet and exercise change again and is reversible. But I found out while baking a birthday cake for H. 😥

I wouldn't say our trip was particularly fun, but we all survived and made it there and back with no issues. Sleep was shit, J was a threenager, and Z had a cold with goopy eyes, but we did have some fun moments. Everyone is glad to be home.

Sleep when we travel is one of the most challenging things about taking kids places. Both keeping them up late because we're doing something, or just because they wake up in a strange place and are weird about it.

I am nooooot looking forward to our trip in a couple weeks in terms of sleeping, for all three of us. MH and I have separate bedrooms due to my sleep/work schedule and issues so I'm not used to sleeping with another person. C will be in the PnP which he hasn't slept in since he was a newborn and in the same room as us. At least it's only 4 nights and I took the day after we get home off work. 😂 He will go to DC and I can nap.

And the last time we went away, I swear my husband was just as bad complaining about the mattress. Did your Inlaws do any better with child proofing?

I can’t remember if I shared this here. Below is a picture of my kids the last time we stayed at a hotel. My husband and I thought the three of them in one bed would be a disaster, but they insisted on it and made it work. Sometimes the sleep gods work in our favor.

Other than being a little hard on J, they were just fine.
