So I've tried two different kinds of Nike running shoes and neither have worked for me. They both rubbed right under the balls of my feet on the inside. I have wider feet.
I plan to go to an actual running store or two and get on a treadmill and have them analyze my run and recommend something. I'm leaning towards Brooks or New Balance. I need something that'll hold up long distance as I'm about to start half marathon training.
What running shoe is your favorite for long distances?

Highly recommend you hit your local running store. I need a neutral shoe and looooooove my brooks glycerines. I am on pair #6.

You need to tell them what you want it for and have them point you toward one that is good for your foot/stride. Brooks are great for some- I have yet to find a pair that works for me. It is very individual.

It is very individual. This. My friends all run in Brooks and Hokas - but both are no good for me. In fact, my super narrow hot dog feet only seem to do well in Nikes. And not even all Nikes. You need to have your stride/gait analyzed and then have recommendations based on that. Your local running store is a good place to start. I know a lot of people recommend chains like "Road Runners" but I've found their employees aren't terribly well trained and often recommend wrong shoes.

Thanks ladies. There's a little boutique running shop in town that a marathoner co-worker recommended so I'll start there. I feel that there are not much worse things than running in uncomfortable shoes.

GhoatMonket I was thinking about how easy it would be to twist my ankle in my new shoes I wore last night because the soles are definitely not wide enough for my wide feet. I ordered without trying them on which is the last time I will ever do that.

Definitely go to a good running store. I'm a distance runner (half marathons, marathons). I have wider feet at the top, and I am also an overpronater. I was recommended Mizuno Wave Inspire independently from 3 different specialty running stores, so it's my go-to now.

coconutbacon I've never heard of those. I will have to keep those in mind because I have the overpronate issue as well. That combined with the wide feet are blisters/twisted ankles just waiting to happen with the wrong shoe.

Nikes are the worst. I agree with what everyone else is saying.
