vino plus 1 to I hate work evals. They are a waste of time. Here everyone gets more or less the same review every year regardless of what type of employee they are. Why bother?

peachsmama super lame of your friend. She should be offering to drop it off since you let her borrow it. I'd ask when she can drop it off and that you need it asap. lahdeedah our county will do EI speech assessments starting at 18 months. I called and took 6 weeks for them to come out. I think the Ped recommended since he had under 6 words at 18 months...by the time they came out he was up to 25.

LOL. I swear you just had him. I would have thought he was barely 1. My how time flies with the second kids! Anyway, that being said. I have all the same things, ear problems prior to tubes, late talker, etc. My pedi blew me off ant every appt and kept saying "someone has to be an early talker and someone late, but he'll get there". I did not believe her. Finally at his 2.5 I brought it up again, and pushed. He still was not stringing together more than 2 words and was very difficult, even for me to understand. I got the referral and in the 2 months I wanted for the appt, his speech exploded. All that to say, he is probably fine, and honestly, I don't think at under 2 they are supposed to have more than a few words that are understandable by those other than you. But if you are concerned, an evaluation can either get you help, or set your mind at ease, so why not... Thanks! I was thinking it was in the normal range, but figured it wouldn’t hurt to get tested just in case. I also think it’s hard not to compare him to the older sibling who articulated better at this age. This too. S was an incredibly early talker. And SUPER articulate from an early age. It's something I never really realized till B came along, but looking back, all his little friends' parents used to always comment on it. My pedi also said that often second children of articulate big siblings are often late to talk b/c they don't need to as much. Their older brother/sister does it for them. I thought that was super interesting and has proven true in a lot of families I've seen.

Who knows...

I had my annual evaluation and even though it's a formality, I did appreciate that my boss putting in writing that I handled the sh*t that went down regarding a promotion of my peer very well and professionally, despite being handled poorly. She also discussed how she wants my position to evolve so even if I'm not changing jobs per se, it maybe can be updated to a lead position given my experience and expertise in my area. She also took us out to lunch today and refilled her candy bowl (she's only in town once a month so 3 weeks a month we are out of peanut m&Ms.

Cass finally started talking after she turned 2 but before that she mostly signed and hardly had any words.

She's more of a rule things out rather than wait and see kind of doc though, hence my undying love for her.

Everyone is always amazed at J's speech with being the second child. My nephew definitely followed the norm of not talking much as a second child. And now that hes found his voice, it's so damn cute we all drive him nuts asking him to say things. But even when he only had 4-6 words "abby" was one of them 😊

Hi hi - just plugging along over here. Feeling a bit like a house lately and have a feeling it will be a long summer of being more pregnant than I'm used to in the heat.
My new class started yesterday and we have a group project due every Sunday the first 3 weeks(whyyyy?). Some people asked me to be on their team and they are very extra. We have team meetings 2x a week and one person already sent out slides with content filled out.. meanwhile I haven't even bought the book yet. Hope they don't hate me and/or they do a majority of these assignments.

Ds was insane speech wise and still is, I stopped counting words at 21mo. The teachers think he’s hilarious. Dd was a lot slower and is still very sloppy when in comes to pronunciation. It has improved a ton in the last two months, she’ll be three next week.

M has great speech and always has but he has random words that he doesn't say right. Like trash comes out as crash. He says the letter t fine for all other words. But not trash. I have no idea why.

peachsmama T has a few words he says wrong and I realized it’s not a pronunciation thing, it’s that he really thought those were the words. He always called skunks “stunks” and windshield wipers he calls “swipers.”

I sucked it up and went bathing suit shopping. I got 2 that will work. Then I waited for a guy to come refinish my dining room table and now I’m waiting for the sprinkler guy to come and do some work before he installs the sprinklers on Friday.

Where did you end up getting them? I need a couple, too, but have been putting it off. Yikes.

Asides the obvious stretch marks (my hips look like baseball stitches) I have really bad acne on my back that flares up from time to time. I feel awful and subconscious about it. However the desire to swim and have fun with my my kids is bigger.

My Graco extend to fit came out of storage with mold on only the straps. 35 minutes on hold with Graco later- they don't offer replacement straps because they can only be installed by the manufacturer.. $150 seat in the trash. He did send me a rebate for when I go to replace it.

I really do like swimming in the ocean with the kids so I had to pick something.

I would probably still be the sexy woman there after 4 kids.

I was able to find an old fashioned hardware store that helped me fill in with similar ones. DH was ready to buy a whole new crib.

lahdeedah, How old is M2? I can't recall. Have your brought your concerns up with your pedi? What does he/she think? I had B evaluated, but I did it privately. He ultimately did not qualify but it was a really interesting experience and I'm really glad I did it. B did not really start talking till the past 2/3 months (well over 2.5), but he's now started to catch up (finally!) He will be 2 next month. He talks, but he doesn’t articulate well at all. I think it’s because he had ear problems until we did tubes. After tubes he started to say way more, but only I can make out what he says on most things. I’m trying to schedule his 2 year appointment before we leave for good in a few weeks. I am planning to talk to his pedi about it and get her opinion. If she thinks we should do it, I may have to get with his new pedi to get a referral for services in MS. The way it works here is EI is from birth to 3, and then after that it’s through the school district. Either way it’s a free eval.

peachsmama super lame of your friend. It's super interesting how this varies. B literally had no words at 18 months. Maybe a few, undecipherable words, but nothing that stands out, and my pedi was totally lackadaisical about it. But his 18 month appt is when he got the referral for his tubes so maybe that's why? Who knows... My pedi was pretty laid back about all of it too. I finally self referred and didn’t qualify. One thing the lady told me when I called about it is that the standards are a lot higher after they turn 2, so it’s easier to qualify. S is still hard to understand a lot of the time and I’m considering asking them to do an eval again. I want to ask her teacher if her speech is consistent with other 3 year olds in her class first.

We're expecting storms tonight and I'm feeling lazy so I told E we aren't going to swim lessons. Now I really hope the pool opens this weekend and is warm enough to swim. I'm feeling really off and I think it's low iron levels so I've switched my daily vitamins. But I did make it to swim this morning.

Thanks for all the advice and info ladies. I’ll see if I can get an eval after we settle in the new house.

My hand still hurts when I grip things so I’m going to do a tgrimes ice bath when I get home from work tonight. It doesn’t bother me at all if my hand is flat, but as soon as I try to open something, or wipe after going to the bathroom I get a zinger. Annoying.
