I haven't monitored Cadence at home in a long time (I still have the dc camera, but that will get cancelled next week when she is no longer in a room with a camera) If she gets up at night she goes to mh (haha).

Morning! H is at school, they are having a movie day. S and I are at the mall play place because it’s rainy outside and I needed to pick up an online order at old navy. They remodeled our play place like a year ago and the seats around the outside don’t have backrests. Annoying.

We still use a monitor. The kids are on the second floor on the other side of the house, and we’re on the third. I can’t hear them from that distance and prefer they don’t try to navigate stairs in the dark to come to our room if they need us.

That's awesome cagoldi! Am I the only one not using a monitor for my kid? She knows if she needs us, she can come to our room. I don't use a monitor for any of my kids. I do have a non video monitor that I'll plug in if we are having a party or something and I can't hear A. That's about it.

But it's hooked up to the same thing so it's just there. Sometimes it's nice to see if he's actually asleep. But most of the time it's on B.

Hi! I’ve been trying to keep up, but not doing a great job. Between work and home I’m stretched. +1 to hating naps at school. M goes to bed way too late, but with a nap during the day he is just not tired. So does everyone’s Kindergarten not take nap? I don’t remember if I asked when we did the visit, but I think I remember seeing that they need a mat on the school supply list, so I should inquire. I really hope they don’t. cagoldi Yay for X’s progress! Wonderful! peachsmama thank you for reminding me to call my girl to see if I can get in for a pedicure this week. I will make time if she has availability. You can only get either her if you make an appointment, too.

lahdeedah normally I can get in on a walk in. I usually wait 30 minutes or so but nothing crazy. But it was like a 3 hour wait for her today..

Re: naps
Last year when O was in pre-k they didn’t force kids to nap. I think maybe everyone laid down for 15 or 20 mins then the non-nappers were allowed to get up and play quietly. Once they realized who naps and who doesn’t they were able to group them together so kids do t get woken up.

Also have a question. I know a few have tried to get early intervention for speech delays. What is the age rule on that? I think I remember reading that you have to do it by a certain age. I think M2 needs to be tested.

I'm annoyed with a friend. Everytime we talk it's all "I miss you so much, we need to get together" So I'll make a plan and then she bails. Every.single.time. I lent her a car seat and asked about getting it back. She's like oh we should meet at the park and hang out and I'll bring it. This was Sunday. We made plans for tonight. So I texted her to ask if we had agreed to 5:30 or 6. I couldn't remember. Well it's a damn good thing I did. She made other plans. And I already promised my kids a park night so I'm packing a picnic and going anyway. But now I still don't have my carseat. And any chance of getting it back- I'm going to have to go get it from her. Which is obnoxious since I did her a favor letting her use it and brought it to her in the first place.

peachsmama, don't give her an option. Tell her hey, I'll be home from 4-7(or whatever) and I need my carseat, please swing by and drop it off, thanks.

She'll be at a party near me on Sunday. I told her to drop it off and I'd leave the garage door open if I wasn't going to be home. I just want to make sure I have time to wash my extra carseats and get them ready for my inlaws in case they have to watch my boys while I'm in the hospital.

I think M2 needs to be tested. In Texas, ECI (early childhood intervention) will evaluate them anytime before 3. After that, it's through the school district. Surely MS will have something like that. For ours, we can either be referred by a physician or we may do a self referral. ETA: If they don't think there's a delay and you're still concerned, you can also check to see if your insurance would cover speech therapy.

lahdeedah, How old is M2? I can't recall. Have your brought your concerns up with your pedi? What does he/she think? I had B evaluated, but I did it privately. He ultimately did not qualify but it was a really interesting experience and I'm really glad I did it. B did not really start talking till the past 2/3 months (well over 2.5), but he's now started to catch up (finally!)

I have a monitor on both kids. Our kindergarten does not nap, but I do you know they try to do the heavier academic piece in the morning as the kids are fresher.

I think it’s because he had ear problems until we did tubes. After tubes he started to say way more, but only I can make out what he says on most things. I’m trying to schedule his 2 year appointment before we leave for good in a few weeks. I am planning to talk to his pedi about it and get her opinion. If she thinks we should do it, I may have to get with his new pedi to get a referral for services in MS.

I would have thought he was barely 1. My how time flies with the second kids! Anyway, that being said. I have all the same things, ear problems prior to tubes, late talker, etc. My pedi blew me off ant every appt and kept saying "someone has to be an early talker and someone late, but he'll get there". I did not believe her. Finally at his 2.5 I brought it up again, and pushed. He still was not stringing together more than 2 words and was very difficult, even for me to understand. I got the referral and in the 2 months I wanted for the appt, his speech exploded. All that to say, he is probably fine, and honestly, I don't think at under 2 they are supposed to have more than a few words that are understandable by those other than you. But if you are concerned, an evaluation can either get you help, or set your mind at ease, so why not...

Naps: Cass' dc has them and that was the toughest adjustment for her. I think she's napped all of 3 times this year. Her elementary school is all-day and there are no naps.
Monitor: Haven't used one in years. But we do have Amazon Dots so we can intercom if we need to. They mostly use it for music though.

I was thinking it was in the normal range, but figured it wouldn’t hurt to get tested just in case. I also think it’s hard not to compare him to the older sibling who articulated better at this age.

Hi all. Work has been so busy lately and I've been really blah about it because I have no motivation. I never get any credit for what I do, but my boss has no issue pointing out something he doesn't like. We also have some major scheduling issues here that could be easily fixed by our boss but he has no motivation to do so. We've decided to band together tomorrow to demand a meeting to address it but I'm not hopeful much will be accomplished.
I got a call from Maddie's teacher regarding misbehavior at school yesterday. That was thrilling. She's usually very well behaved at school. She apologized to the teacher without me asking but we had a long talk about her behavior.
