I'm at work. M was a moster this morning. I know it's because she's going to bed so late. I can't wait until August when she stops napping at school.

tgrimes, I've had numerous talks with DC About S sleeping at naptime. It's ridiculous, he does not need a nap and is not tired at night on those days. Most of the parents in his class feel the same way, so they have started letting the kids go outside at naptime and run around. I guess the rule here is 30 minutes of quiet time, so they come in and put a movie on for the last 30 minutes of naptime. But if it rains, they all nap the whole time. I loathe rainy days.

Everyone but Charlie is foul over here — Josie’s moody teenager behavior is totally throwing me. MH is miserable at work this week. I’m taking the kids to Stew’s to see the animals and pick up dinner. I need a break today so I’m leaving as soon as mh gets home for an afternoon mani/pedi

I’ve always been a ‘sleep begets sleep’ believer, but if dd sleeps to long she is a nightmare to put down and wakes up throughout the night. So now I wake her up after and hour/hour and a half.

Morning!
B was feeling better last night, but had no desire to sleep. After he called me in at least 7 or 8 times to chat, ask for a different animal, etc, I was laying in my bed watching him "read" loudly on the monitor. I decided to try to tell him to go to sleep through the monitor.
BIG MISTAKE.
I scared the living shit out of him. So he was up for another hour freaking out, crying, telling me about the "noise" that scared him, etc.
It was actually kind of funny, if ti didn't mean my 2 year old was up till almost 10:00
Then, for no discernible reason, he woke up a full hour early and was itching to get out of bed.
Good luck day care teachers!! He's going to be super fun today!!

Yes, they used to let them do quiet activities on their mats but I guess they were disturbing the other kids who did nap So now they just lay there. You lay down long enough with nothing to do, of course you're going to fall asleep!

And he kept pointing his little finger up at the camera like it was an alien or something. It was hysterical.

I was told at the beginning of this school year that naps would be weaned away starting in April. That didn't happen. They won't even let Cadence have books at her mat or sit at the coloring table during nap time. The girl doesn't want to sleep! If you don't give her something to do, then she's going to make noise. Then she gets in trouble for making noise.
She told me the other day that everyone got m&ms except for her and another little boy because they didn't nap. Don't reward 5 year olds for napping when you clearly stated that naps would be taken away by now. That isn't fair to them.
Starting next week they will be downstairs and there will be no naps, so many of those children are going to have issues because they are cutting their naps cold turkey.

Yes, our DC uses one of those color coded systems. They start in the middle and can move up or down based on their behavior throughout the day. There are 3 up and 3 down. If they are on the top at the end of the day, they get to go in the treasure box. S has told me numerous times that the only way to move to the last spot is to sleep at naptime. This enrages me! The school denies it but other parents have corroborated his story.

I need to ask them about naps again. I don't want to be too pushy since H is still there, but damn. My kid cannot be the only with this issue.

I know you're not on FB, but S class has a FB group with about 75% of the parents in is, and we all sort of banded together to bug the administration so it wasn't just one family constantly complaining

That's a good idea. Especially with all the kids that will be going to kindergarten.

I talk to my boys through the monitor for naps and they always tell me they hate it. Well lay down and stop flopping around and I wont have to!

I often talk trough the monitor, ds isn’t fazed and listens well when we tell him to calm down. Dd is often a little startled, but not scared.

I do it to S often (yes I still have a camera in his room). But he understands that it's me. He will sometimes look at the monitor to ask me a question if he thinks I'm watching it.
I don't think I'll be trying it with B again anytime soon.

Hi, loves.
X has feeding therapy this morning. I expect it to go well. He asked for a second serving of rice last week during dinner! His gross motor skills have been improving a ton since we’ve been going to the park every day. He sits on the “big boy” swing really well now. And last night, he sang me all the ABC’s. They probably were unintelligible to anyone else, but it was still great progress. ❤️

Morning, sweet chicks. Back at work today and I've got to work on my performance agreements; make sure my staff has theirs done, have a meeting with them, recap the meeting then sign off on them by Friday. I hate, HATE, performance reviews. It's such a 'check in the box' task and nothing drives me more batty than make-work projects. A live shot of me for the entire week
