mwhip I’m not remembering what she said to/about you after you moved? It was so childish. I went to school with her, I'm pretty sure we went to school together from K-12, we were friends, but didn't hang out outside of school. Our families know each other, small hometown. We did not keep in touch after we graduated. So when we moved down here, I was at the store and ran into her. I joked that moving back was weird...I couldn't anonymously run to the store for a gallon of milk without seeing anyone I know anymore. She made a post on FB about running into a friend who commented about how she didn't want to see her anymore and people immediately gave her hair pats telling her how amazing she was. Okay, it was a joke, but yes, sometimes I want to grab a goddamn gallon of milk and just say hi, without a 15 minute conversation. So I unfriended her. She sent me multiple friend requests after that, which I ignored for the longest time, then decided enough time had passed, and accepted. Yeah she sounds... not fun. Honestly, I would probably not unfriend her, just hide my posts from her. That way she doesn't see what you post, but she can't friend request you again either. And she wouldn't even really notice unless she went looking for your posts.

mwhip lolz at that crazy. I eye roll at those who go to town on SM to shame other's parenting. Like wedding, I'm not a helicopter parent at all; I'm proud of my girls' independence. But whether you are or not, the horror of leaving your child alone with pediatric healthcare specialists! Even if you did just want to space out on your phone while E was at her appt. there's nothing wrong with that--we all need those moments. All kids act differently when with their parents. My mom does in-home DC and she's relieved when the parents do quick drop-offs because inevitably they act up when the parents are around.

mwhip lahdeedah do the kids go to a pediatric specific dental office? Neither of the 2 dentists that we've seen have special areas inside for kids or policies but the recent dentist does seem better with kids (kids waiting area). Also our insurance doesn't cover before age 3 so that 1st visit would have been difficult Yeah we have a pediatric dentist so the office caters to kids. I took both boys around 18m. When I took M2 recently, they let M come back and play in the kids area in the back while I was with M2. I think because M had been many times before he was 3, he was ok going by himself.

My coworker buddy told me he's considering another job offer. It'd be a dream job in so many ways (hell, I want him to take me with him) so I understand why he would leave, but it'd really suck around here without him. Not to mention we're already short-staffed. And considering this place tends to attract crazy I wouldn't be optimistic about new hires.

wineallthetime A caught up quickly after being born so early, so I'm sure he will catch up quickly on the developmentally side as well. How long do you wait for a follow up? I'm really annoyed with a FB friend for saying I'm 'harsh' for not going back with Evie at her dentist appointments. I know I shouldn't take it so personally, but I don't think that's harsh. I think it will slowly teach her independence. Do you all go back with them for regular cleaning/check ups? Am I too harsh? I mean, yes, my personality in general, is harsh. But it's not like I dropped her off at the door and yelled 'Peace Out' as I sped away. I also think every kid handles it differently and I know for my kid, she does better with anxiety causing events, if I am not around. DH does dentist appointments so I have no idea. I have been told I'm harsh too. C is very independent and always has been. He does a lot solo that other parents would scoff at. At the hairdressers i wait in the waiting area while he gets a cut. I can see him but I'm not talking him through it or anything. I've seen some customers give me judgy looks but if there's no need for me to hold a hand, I don't. He does great. I'm definitely not a helicopter mom. Why would they give judge looks if your kid is compliant? I could see if the kid was carrying on and you were sitting in the waiting room ignoring it.

chrisy01 I feel like a government office should be much more accommodating to your need to pump. I'd complain to the city when this is all done. You can't be the first person who has had this request. Good idea about hiding my posts jewels! I went to the gym for the first time in 2 1/2 or 3 weeks, I don't even remember when the last time was I was there. It was hard. Why does it take so long to build up strength and resistance, and it diminishes so quickly?

tgrimes klong11 how was your drive this morning? tgrimes did the person from your work ever make it to p/u his kid? I remember one time years ago we had awful flooding and it took like 4 hours to drive home and I got to DC after 8:00. S was the only kid there and I felt awful, but they were so nice about it and never even sent me a bill. Yes, he got her at midnight. So crazy.

B is pretty bad for haircuts so I have to help hold him still, etc. S only goes to the "kids" place if I am getting B's haircut too and want to knock them both out. Otherwise, he goes to the local barber shop that MH goes to. I've been known to get him in the chair and then walk outside to entertain B. He's fine, he likes the haircut, he likes chatting with the barber like a grown up.

I just saw a post on FB from an old friend who is in your area linking a news report about a local elementary school that had something like 80 kids till midnight and 60 stay overnight. It's crazy! Same thing happened here with a freak snow storm back in November and some schools had people camping out who's parents couldn't get to them.

I’m off today. School had muffins with mom this morning and then I went to the dentist. Just got back from lunch with MH. Now I’ll do some laundry and meal prep before I get the kids. The weather is supposed to get bad again this afternoon.

It would be heartbreaking enough for a parent, to not be able to get to them, but for a kid, possibly one a year older than ours, to have to stay overnight? I mean, I get it, it's the safest option, I just feel bad for them. Hopefully the schools had food on hand for all of them as well. Although, maybe the kids just felt like it was a huge sleepover with all their friends, so it worked out for everyone.

The article I saw actually showed them in the cafeteria (I didn't read it, just the headline and the pic) so I'm guessing they fed them and made it seem like a fun sleepover. But yeah, I'd imagine a lot of kids would be nervous or uncomfortable about it. Mine would probably be happy as a clam, providing his besties were stuck too! When S was stuck just for a few hours, they scrounged up dinner for him from random stuff they had at DC and he had one on one time with the teacher. He thought it was the best! But that was only a few hours so not quite the same issue.

I got dismissed. There was only 1 trial needing jurors today and they just took a plea deal. (Insert happy dance). I’m home and pumping right now. I hope I get a survey like I did last time so I can let them know my thoughts on the rude lady.

chrisy01 I’m surprised with that treatment at a court of all places. I got jury duty when I was nursing T and he wasn’t taking bottles. I wrote breastfeeding mom on the survey they sent. They contacted me and gave me the option of being excused or being provided with breaks and a private room to pump. I went with being excused since he wasn’t taking bottles and I was on maternity leave so I didn’t have child care.

It’s up to the judge how they want to accommodate. I was still in the jury assembly room when I asked. I think she was annoyed I didn’t push my date back.

I’m at karate. There’s a boy biting not only his toenails but the skin around it. I have foot phobia. I may die!🤢.
If it was C doing it I would be fake coughing loudly to get his attention. As I had to do one time when C decided to go diving in his nose while in lineup.

My buddie's friend just started working there in a high-level position and will have the opportunity to hire some staff members. So he can hand pick who he wants. He doesn't know me other than tangentially through my friend.
