I’m not planning on doing anything for teacher appreciation week since our last day of school is so soon. I’m just going to get one gift for that day.
My employer does “patient access week” that I’m pretty sure they just made up. But the do drawings for these baskets full of stuff from the dollar store, which I didn’t win (and I’m fully ok with). And they gave everyone a movie theater box of candy with 2 tickets to the cheap theater.
Eta: the hospital also does a full staff appreciation lunch in the summer usually too.

I forgot about those appreciation lunches. Also we get a cheap gift that they give to the entire hospital like a cheap cup with the logo. And a Department gift which is usually voted on and people vote for "organizer" instead of something useful but this year we all got fleeces. So the institution shows gratitude but my boss doesn't. But I think his take is that I am getting paid and I am doing my job I don't need to be thanked for doing what I am expected to do. (Can you imagine what kind of husband he is??)

I do love M’s teachers and would like to get them a little something. They celebrate the main teacher’s birthday Friday, so kind of feel like I have to get something, even if it’s not much. A gift card will probably win since easy. They want us to do something every day, and I just can’t. So it’s gift cards for all our teachers, too. And probably a nice card, and they’re all kind of into healthy living so maybe a cold-pressed juice or smoothie. M2’s daycare did this last year and I was like who has time to keep up with daily gifts? All the teachers posted what they enjoyed and every day was like bring their favorite candy, drink, etc. That was a big lol nope for me.

I think patient access week is a national thing. We have it here in my hospital system, too. This week is hospital week so the system does a week of incentives for us. We had chicken biscuits yesterday morning, genomic testing today, Italian ice dessert tomorrow, shoe sale Thursday, and cookout Friday for lunch. We also have tech week in November for us in medical imaging where our vendors provide lunch daily for a week.

Huge LOL to doing something daily. How do they expect parent's to keep up with life? I love Evie's teacher, but I'm still not doing anything.
My company is good at showing their employees appreciation. I think I'm compensated well, although I'd always take more. They usually do bonuses around this time of year, which have been equal to about 1 weeks paycheck, although I don't know that we are getting those this year due to a huge quality issue. We go to Royals games, the country club for dinner/drinks, we are a pretty social company, outside of the workplace. There are quite a few events that I decline, only because I'm socially awkward and don't want to hang out with our sales team. But my boss and I are good friends, as I am with most of the other ladies in the front office.

Speaking of being good friends with my boss...I had mentioned about a year ago that she's a breast cancer survivor and they had found a lump, which ended up being nothing.
Well, they found another lump yesterday afternoon. She called in sick today and has been emailing me...I feel terrible for her. I'm taking her to her ultrasound Friday morning, but any positive thoughts would be really appreciated. Hopefully it's nothing again. I'm kind of at a loss as what to say to her except to stay positive, everything will be fine...because she's scared to death.

Madison's school is having daily events for teacher appreciation. I felt kind of bad about not participating at first, then realized I've worked a ton recently, this stuff is made for the SAHPs of school-aged kids. They can take it on. In general, made up Hallmark days/weeks like this are mostly eye-roll events for me. I do what I can at different times throughout the year to show appreciation. *shrugs*

Sunny41 your manager sounds pretty crappy, I def wouldn't be doing anything for bosses day for that! Pretty sure extra stuff from our managers is paid out of pocket and not reimbursed at all. I've had some crappy bosses, but overall have been pretty lucky.

Because Josie is in a new preschool I didn’t know what to expect, but the parent committee sent home a letter a few weeks ago with a blank postcard asking the kids to draw what they love about their teachers and asking for donations that will contribute to gc to a local gastro pub. Because I too am a teachers pet/former teacher (I see you, tallb 😀), I will bring flowers on Friday.

Teachers appreciation week is not a thing here. I usually buy the teachers a small personal thing around Christmas & at the end of the school year. This is not per se custom, but my mom used to do this too, so I just copied her. One day a year they celebrate all the teacher’s birthdays, they collect a small amount from each parent & we all bring flowers to make a huge bouquet. I just bought dd’s teacher who is leaving a little wooden red robin (DD’s group is called the red robins) and we’ll bring a pretty flower. Eta this is all very random, sorry .

Re appreciation. We get Christmas packages, usually a big box with lots of random food items and one bigger non food item, last year is was a robe. The kids love unboxing them. Besides this we usually have an all paid dinner once a year.

Between both boys, we have four teachers. They also suggested doing it for their aide, and any therapists, and the librarian. Now, I will probably go all out for X’s aide next year because they make nothing and that job is harder than hell, but between all school professionals interacting with both boys that would be a total of EIGHT people who would need a gift every day for five days. No possible way.

There is a lunch for teacher appreciation that we all contribute to each year. I haven’t noticed the other parents doing more than that.
We are big on employee appreciation. We have an annual lunch and some sort of event. Last year it was the zoo. The year before an escape room. We do it all during the work day and leave early. The judge also grants us 8 hrs of vacation time to take when we want. The judge also does courtesy holiday days each year like the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and oddly the day before or after 4th of July. It’s really nice not to have to use our vacation time for those days.
Our individual court unit did a cash award last year, which is very unusual but we had a crazy year where everyone worked their tales off while short staffed. This year we are going to get our pick of logo-ed items. Our Chief does not do anything for these other random days like Administrative Professionals day. Which is fine given that we get so much.
I think part of the reason for the appreciation is that we can’t get super raises, cap out at a certain point, and can’t get bonuses.

I picked C up early because he was a bit off this morning with allergies and didn’t want to go to school but I sent him in. He was pissed I got there early. I thought he’d be happy. 🤷♀️

I've been so burned out with work lately I've been kind of hoping I'd get a call from one of the kids' schools that they are sick so I'd have an excuse to leave. Not like I want my kids to be sick, but having an excuse to sit on the couch and cuddle while watching Spirit Riding Free sounds really good right now.

Our old daycare did a whole week, but had a big sign up sheet with things for breakfast one day, lunch one day, small gift cards one day, ect.. so you could sign up for things and drop them at the office in the beginning of the week.

www.yellowblissroad.com/teriyaki-turkey-rice-bowl/I made this for dinner last night and the kids ate all of it. I cooked the sauce and the meat the night before (without the broccoli & carrots) and then sauteed the veggies when I got home. I used zucchini, carrots, red bell pepper & green bell pepper. It was really good.

Being a teacher, I should try harder but DS1 has 8 teachers, DD has 3 not counting gym and art and stuff like that, and T probably has at least 10 because lunch and afternoon are all mixed classes. If I can get the energy together, I may do a big platter of my chocolate covered stuff for T’s school and then individual bags of that stuff for the other kid’s. If they each had 1 teacher, it would be so different.
