Hi all - are there any guidelines for supplementation when mom has a stomach bug and baby's diaper count is a bit low? Baby is 5m.
I'm just now able to drink more fluids, and I'm letting her nurse on demand, but I know I'm a bit dehydrated (and haven't been able to eat in 24+ hours), so I suspect she isn't getting as much milk as she normally would (she is fussing at the breast a lot, and nursing more frequently than usual. She had a good wet diaper when she woke up ~7:30, but it's 11, and she hasn't needed a change yet (she usually would by now).
I have a few oz of frozen milk I could add to her nursing today if needed - thoughts?
Thanks!

Babies at that age should have at least 4-5 wet diapers (like significantly wet, not damp) in 24 hours. I say keep doing what you're doing (baby nursing more frequently and hydration will help your supply bump back up) and if you're still concerned about diaper count by this afternoon/evening or she seems extra fussy, a few oz of extra milk can't hurt, esp if that gives you peace of mind she's getting enough.

If you are having trouble with fluids still, you may consider going to get IV fluids from urgent care. I was EBFing DD1 at almost that age and my blood work was off for dehydration after 24 hours of not being able to keep anything down. I would probably supplement with some frozen milk, but when you feed I would try to pump or hand express (even if you don't get anything). At that age my LO was in daycare so getting her regular bottles during the day. My supply rebounded pretty quickly once I was hydrated and eating again.
ETA I see I am late to the party! Hope you are feeling better by now!
