Hi all

Warning - poop talk ahead:

Since B was sick a few weeks ago, his system is all off. He has a day or 2 of lots of pooping and/or diarrhea, followed by 3-5 days of no pooping, rinse and repeat. By the end of the no pooping, he is an awful mess. Today is day 4 (pooped 2 times on Thursday, nothing since). He was happy all weekend, but yesterday afternoon he started to complain. He was up a few times last night crying and clearly trying to poop, this morning he woke up crying and kept saying "I GET THE POOP OUT!!" but alas, nothing.

Anyway, I have not done the miralax yet b/c I thought it had corrected itself after this last run. But obviously I was wrong. So those that do miralax (tgrimes), how do you do it? Pedi said half a capful, so what, just mix that in his water? Can he drink it over the course of the evening? Should I keep doing it even after he poops?

I took the day off to recover and slept until 10. I got up at 6 to take C to school and Dh said he would do it. I think he missed me and I know he feels bad about a text misunderstanding while I was away. I thought he was saying I looked at fool at the pole class. We were all ready to fly to my house and slice his nuts off. But he was referring to a picture he took. Oops🤷‍♀️

I have a mountain of laundry but I ordered groceries and cleaned up last night so it should be the relaxing day I planned. C has a belt test tonight and is so it excited! I’m sure he will do great. Dh said at his last class the teacher singled him out as a model a few times.

Dh and C had a blast while I was gone. School carnival, baseball opening day, the arcade (where C got the jackpot on a game and everyone crowded and cheered while he happy danced. I wish I saw that). They also went to dinners and lunches, ice cream, played outside. Both looked exhausted but I’m glad they had some time to bond alone since it’s rare for them to have more than an hour or two. I did come home to C ratting Dh our for every minor indiscretion. He apparently ate the last of Cs waffles and watched “innapopiate” shows 🤣

jewels Are you wanting a clean out or just a daily dose for a bit?

We do 1 tbsp in about 4-6 oz of apple juice. The juice is supposed to help them go and she could taste it in the water. I normally give it to her when she gets home from school. It's recommended to drink it within a 15-20 min time span.

ETA You can definitely start off with a cap full and then slowly cut back over a week or two.  Do you give a daily probiotic?  Have you looked into fiber gummies or chewables?

I thought I had to call in for jury duty this week, nope it’s next week. I kind of want to change it over the summer so I only ha e to worry about 1 kid since LO will be at school but I also want to get it over with. What’s everyone’s thoughts on it?

Just got a call from school. B was outside and came in to super swollen eyes. Then a few minutes later she called me back and said he had hives everywhere. Oye. This is not my day.

Yeah, they taste gross.  I found a gummie that's not too bad.

If you're wanting him to poop, I'd start with a cap full.  you can give it to him a few times in one day if you want to get him to poop faster.  Then once he's pooping, take it back to 1 tbsp a day for a week or 2,  and then 2 tsps a day for awhile.  If you see he's getting constipated, up the dose.  If he starts having diarrhea, cut back on the dose.  

My pedi told me I could alternate miralax & fiber pills to see what works best.  You just need to make sure he drinks a lot when doing miralax and the fiber, otherwise it may not work as well.

Also, have you tried watering down the juice some?   You only have to worry about it if he doesn't want to drink the water with miralax in it.

I don’t use one, and I doubt it has more than very minor benefits, if any.

lfig happy birthday! Side note, I’m always a little jealous of the idea of you managing campgrounds. Every now and then Dh and ponder about buying a small piece of land somewhere in Sweden/norway and start a campground with a small café and an amazing play area for kids. I’m sure the reality is not as rosy as our imagination 😉.
