So, my BFF, who is amazing and wonderful, wants to go in on a cutting machine for me for my 35th birthday in a few months. I assume it's a little selfish on her part as well so she can get me to make shirts and stuff for her family, too. She told me to decide which kind I want, and I'm leaning toward a silhouette Cameo 3, but wanted to see if any of you had experience with/opinions on the Cameo 3 or with the Cricut Explore Air 2.

I have the cricut and like it well enough. I have no experience to compare to a silhouette though.

I have a Cricut and it is pretty good. One of my friends has a Silhouette and it can do things Cricut can't - like offset, or shadow, text but I think it is a little less user friendly. I would recommend watching some YouTube videos of each to see which would be better for you.

I have bought the Silhouette (Cameo 3, forgot to mention) for scrapbooking about a year now and love it - lots of affordable designs!, but can't compare it to Cricut unfortunately, so my experience is limited as well.

I ended up getting the silhouette! I like the software a lot and so far it's been great for cutting vinyl and HTV.

Yes, it's great for vinyl and works well but does take some practice to get it working right (at least, I had to spend some time figuring this out). Gladly there are hundreds of instructional videos on YouTube. Have fun!
