Ok, so since the news came out about the Rock n Play, I am becoming obsessive about safe sleep for the new baby.
As a disclaimer, I do not judge anyone for using the RNP (or for still planning to). I know 100% that this is a risk vs. gain situation and you have to choose what works best for you to be able to function.
With that being said, for me personally, I am not comfortable using the RNP this time around for overnight sleep or naps for the new baby (which is what I did with C and was my plan for this babe until all of this came out last week).
What do you plan to use for your littles? Bassinet? Pack n Play? Crib? I love personal recs vs. random Amazon reviews!
Ideally, we'll sleep the baby in our room for at least a few months (I know the rec is 1 year but lolno), and then transition him into his crib. I have been looking at all kinds of different options, and space really isn't a constraint for us as we have a large master. In perfect land, it would be something that is relatively easy to switch from one side of the bed to the other, since MH and I like to kind of switch off nights as far as who is picking baby up when he cries/needs fed/changed, however this isn't a must.

Baby 1 we used the swing and then co-slept. I nursed until 8-9 months so it was just convenient for us so that everyone got some sleep.
Baby 2 I think slept in a swing and RNP before transitioning to the crib. I don't remember. She was a terrible sleeper and I have apparently blocked out that part of my life.
Baby 3 was in a RNP for a month or so (doctor's recommendation due to a medical condition) then we went straight to a PNP and stayed there until just recently, we moved her to the crib when she was around a year old. We also used a DockATot for main floor naps.
I am clearly team #whateverworks when it comes to infant sleep 😂

I used the RnP next to my bed for both kids until just after 4 months I think. They were swaddled and definitely could not roll over. Occasionally, I felt a little uncomfortable about it because they could kind of slide down into their swaddle blankets. But once I perfected the swaddle that wasn’t an issue anymore. I also worried about it giving them a flat head.... but turns out there was more to worry about! Usually after 2am or so, I’d end up nursing and sleeping with them in my bed. I felt fine about that, because I actually feel babies are meant to sleep with nursing moms. It always felt completely natural to me. Anyway, I’m probably not going to use the rock and play anymore because WHAT IF something happened. I’ll probably get some sort of portable bassinet like this. www.amazon.com/Chicco-LullaGo-Portable-Bassinet-Grey/dp/B0793D9VWH/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?crid=2IU92SL0YC2W0&keywords=bassinet&qid=1554927000&s=gateway&sprefix=bas&sr=8-16

I've just bought a Moses basket for baby to sleep in. I will still use the RnP while I take baths after bleeding stops, but I'm right there and not sleeping during those usage times. The edge sits right at bath tub height so I can grab baby for soothing/feeding if need be during.

We are planning on a bassinet for first few months at bedside, then either a crib in our room or pack n play in dS’s room, or a combo of both. Taking recs on affordable bassinets if anyone has one!
I’ve didnt use a rock n play with DS but am being gifted one this time around. Now I’m nervous about it though. Originally I planned to use it for naps and just around the house but now I’m not sure I’ll use it at all.

Overnight DS slept in a pack and play in our room. It worked well and we will try that setup again. I moved him to the crib in his room at 8 weeks. We did use a RnP for daytime naps and a spot to put baby when you needed to. I still plan to use it in this capacity. He was never in there unsupervised so I don’t feel unsafe using it like this

RNPs are banned where I am in Canada as they don't meet the Canadian safety standard. I had to look up what they were online when I had DD over 5 years ago because I had never heard of one and they don't sell them in stores here (although I think you can still buy them online).
DD was in her crib from day 1. For naps we had a portable bassinet for around the house or she would nap in the Ergo while I went about my daily business. She started bed sharing with me at 6 months when her sleep went to pot and I've been sharing a bed with her ever since.
This time around I have a Halo bassinet for baby for beside the bed at night time, a Peg perego pop up bassinet for around the house and of course the Ergo. Once she outgrows the Halo I will put her directly in the crib (beside the bed). At some point I'm sure she'll end up in bed with DD and I but not until she is at least 1 or 2 since I'm not comfortable with DD sharing a bed with baby.

DS slept in a bassinet in my room until he was around 4 months old then transitioned to the crib. I had a PnP downstairs for daytime naps.
This time I want a cosleeper so it's easier to nurse during the night and will probably do the PnP downstairs again for naps.

DS was in his crib in his own room from day 1. His room was right across the hall from ours, so once he was a couple months old I could hear him without the monitor. This one will probably be in a bassinet of some sort in our room for a few months (until sleeping through the night or only waking once/twice), then we’ll transition to the crib upstairs. I was looking at the one robinanne linked above, but ugh I really don’t want to pay $100 for something we’ll only use for a few months. I am anti pack n play...we tried DS in it a few times when we traveled and the mattress is just so loud, it woke him and us up every time he moved in his sleep.

Also Canadian so I’ve never had an RnP. We had a baby box, bassinet (I hated the one we were loaned last time), and then a crib mattress on our floor. DD took a lot of naps in a carrier too.
This time we were loaned a better bassinet that I plan to use but I also debated setting up a bed rail for co-sleeping because it makes MOTN nursing easier. Our bed needs some more prep for that though.
We used the baby box as a storage container/portable bed but that’s not super space efficient. We also have a $$ portable crib from DD but it doesn’t have a bassinet level.

@kore is a baby box Canada speak for a pack n play or is it something else? I'm intrigued! Baby Box is a program that came from Finland m.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/12/30/baby-box-canada_n_8889784.html It’s literally a cardboard box. Ours has an adorable print but my sister’s had a Telus ad print. My toddler has not been kind to it though, every time she finds it she climbs on it so it’s a little warped now.

robinanne I bought the Halo swivel sleeper a while ago and the Peg perego pop up bassinet about a month ago. I'll probably set the Halo up in a few weeks so DD can get used to it before baby gets here (since she'll be here in just over 7 weeks now...

Did anyone buy anything yet? I’m having trouble deciding! Haven't bought but I think I'm going to get the Graco Pack n Play Nearby Napper. It has an attachment on the top (above the bassinet level) that has one side that's a "napper" (not safe for sleep but more a baby holder) and is reversible to a sleep-safe bassinet that can be carried around the house. It also has a changing top attachment which we used a TON with my first. Then there is the traditional bassinet level, and then the standard PNP level. It seems really versatile and is listed on Amazon for $185 which is a decent price IMO. I was going to go with the Halo swivel but it has a pretty low skill level (you have to take baby out once they show signs of rolling - that was like 3 weeks for my DD, whereas with the PNP they can be in the bassinet level until 15lbs or pulling up to hands/knees).

Agree with @frank about the rolling etc. I got the Halo simply to get me through the CS recovery. After that the crib will be going right beside the bed and I will be transitioning baby there. I just don't want to have to deal with getting out of bed MOTN after a CS this time:/
