Quick check in. I was getting ready for my first morning in the Calgary office when I checked my email and saw a chain about another client on-site, up here, in 2 weeks. Cue a major attitude for the first few hours after expressing my unhappiness and basically being told to suck it up. By someone without such young kids, someone making a shit ton more than me. I ended up having a productive day but what an awful start! Now I'm waiting for final details, since I will probably head to Denver from here, either a couple hours later or the following morning. I'm more concerned with figuring out how to minimize the impact to DH and the boys.

Anyhow we visited with my former manager and his family tonight. They're moving to Brooklyn in a few months so we'll hopefully start seeing them more regularly given that their son and Chase are only a few months apart. It was such a nice time with no weirdness at all, even when I had to take an hour long call at 9pm local time.

joelies ugh I hate that attitude from people with no kids, the mom part of me wants to wag my finger and say ‘you have no idea what you’re talking about, just you wait and see’. Glad the rest of the day turned out better.

The thing is that most of them DO have kids, but the kids are older and/or we're talking about men. Because let's be honest, Mom guilt is a huge factor in my feelings about travel.

Plus they all make considerably more than me. Repeatedly dropping everything for a company that isn't properly rewarding my work is breeding exactly the level of resentment you would expect.
