Is anyone dealing with visitors to the house from out of state after baby is born? We have my mom, MIL, and FIL coming out at separate times. That's like a months worth of visitors and I'm not really looking forward to it. Especially when my FIL is the type to just show up within a days notice. We tried to explain to him that our moms will come out first, and we don't want overlapping. But he sometimes hears only what he wants to. We're in kind of the same situation. We live overseas, and so far my dad, MIL, FIL, and BIL are all going to come out this winter to see the baby. For our sanity, we're holding off on having any visitors until the baby is at least 3 months old and I've established breast feeding and a schedule. The ILs are all coming at the same time, so we're having them stay in a nearby hotel. Do not want 3 house guests at the same time with a toddler and new baby. How soon will your guests arrive after the baby is born? I know my Dad will be super easy as a visitor, because he's been out here 2 times before and can take care of himself. BIL should also be fine, as he's visited before and used to live in Asia. MIL and FIL though...they've never been to Asia, are not familiar with the culture, don't like hot weather, and I know they will want DH to be their personal tour guide for their entire visit. It's going to be rough. I am just hoping I will have enough of a schedule established by the time they come out, that they won't disrupt things for me and the kids too much. Might be wishful thinking though 😅

Taitai, yay for V-Day! You're so lucky you'll have a 3 month window. I asked for a week at least before anyone comes out, but it seems that everyone has their own agenda. You'd think 3 grown adults who have had their own children would realize that babies don't come exactly on the EDD all the time. I could go over by 2 weeks! So trying to navigate this has added some stress. @starzia, lol that's what my FIL was trying to do. Come the week of the EDD. Like, you've had kids. He may not make his appearance until after that. And to throw another wrench in the plans, MH is interviewing next week for a job out of state. So he may be gone for a couple weeks after the baby is born. So if that's the case, I'll end up with all these family members here without his help. I may run away.

@easilyunamused my friend who lives in Texas says she wants to visit and see the baby. I asked her to come in September or later What does she do? Buys tickets to be here the week I'm due. WTF. Meanwhile MIL says she wants to STAY AT MY HOUSE FOR A WEEK when the baby is born to HELP ME. No no no no. I told my husband to squash that. She lives an hour away. And I don't even like her at my house for anything. So I am just here to say WTF with you and have no idea what's wrong with people Omg your H better take care of that MIL nonsense STAT.

I managed to piss of that MIL this morning before 9 am. I have skills. Maybe I'll just do that everyday to keep her away. I didn't do it on purpose and she is just being kinda nuts so this will be a piece of cake Yikes. I'm very fortunate that I get along with my MIL, we can hang out alone and have a good time. But having her first grandson might make her a little overbearing I fear.

@starzia, damn that is a lot of uncomfortable family dynamics. I'm glad YH has your back tho, that makes a world of difference. I'll definitely say that I'll bite my tongue to hold the peace, unless something really crazy happens.
I'll never understand why family members get upset if you cut another family member out of your life for real reasons. No one needs to have them in their lives just because they are related. I'll bye bitch anyone who brings that sort of negativity to me. I don't bring any to them.

@easilyunamused How exciting that it's already the month of your due date! You're so close!
While we're not in the USA, we're celebrating the 4th by eating American food this weekend and having DS wear his patriotic shirts from now through the 4th. He has one with a penguin on it, and the penguin is wearing sunglasses with the American flag on them. It looks super cute!

We aren't going to do much, go for a hike and a friends bbq. I'm not looking forward to the late night fireworks from now until the 4th. Luckily my dog doesn't mind them much.

There are definitely places to get good American food here - but there are also a lot of bad ones that cater to tourists. We're having DH make BBQ ribs tonight!

No 4th plans for me. Just working. I think I said something to soon about having a bald baby. I am up with the worse heartburn ever! 2 hours before I need to be awake. H and I are going to an all day child birth class today. All the fun. That whole hairy baby thing linked to heartburn freaks me out ;-) I have been having terrible heartburn throughout this whole pregnancy! LOL Sorry you're working the 4th. MH often has to work all the special holidays as well which sometimes really bums me out. Hope the child birth class is nice.. a full day seems kind of long??

We picked all day on the weekend option. Instead of the 3 week nights options. Wonder what we will do. I know some of it includes a hospital tour. Ahh I see. I looked into some birthing classes as well but none of them worked for us with our work schedules We did do the "giving birth" info evening at our hospital which was more or less interesting, though I really liked the tour the best hah. When I got laid off I thought "ohhh now I have time to do a proper birthing class after all" but then within days broke my ankle which nixed that idea LOL! *sighs* I got some books from my sister and another friend though, which maybe/hopefully has some interesting things and tips/tricks in it as well. And my sister gave me the hypnobirthing/babies (I forget the actual title) book&cd but I recently saw something about it on a tv docu and I don't think it's me.. and definitey not MH lol!

When I was in nursing school during my OB/MW lesson I attended a hypo birthing class and had a cd of relaxation techniques they used that you should listen to- it's very much not for me lol. It can help you relax but then it just got weird to me. If I remember correctly it basically focuses you to be in an alternate like state of mind of calmness and then you won't feel pain, only pressure, but it seems like to me that id like to be present and fully aware (unless I have to get a c/s and be put under) for the birth of my child. But maybe there are different ways to achieve hypnobirthing... 🤷🏻♀️

I am doing hypnobirthing the next 3 weekends with my doula. I assume if I take away 1/4 of the relaxation techniques it's a win? I also thought it may help with Day to day relaxation. I'm assuming the parts where it gets weird is not what I retain 😂
We are headed to a BBQ today, but as my lovely state hit a budget impasse and shut down on essential services, I discovered all rest areas are closed. Bathrooms are an essential service to pregnant women ugh!!

pepperpottsj, ahh I hope the travel isn't too far then?? Maybe you can stop at gas stations instead of public rest areas for the much needed bathroom breaks? And yes, even if some of the hypnobirthing stuff isn't really your cup of tea you can still take away some of the relaxation techniques for sure!

We're going to a 4th of July party today and the Cardinals game tonight. My aunt always throws a big family party on the 4th with too much food. So we'll be there most of the day. My extended family live fairly close, but I feel like we never see them.

pepperpottsj, the road we take to drive to California has very nice and new rest stops. None of which have been open in the past 2.5 years I've lived her. It's so strange, and I hate that it forces me to always use the gas stations. @starzia, I had to do the 3 classes in a row, and found it somewhat informative! Hope it goes by quickly. Taitai, now I may need to talk MH into getting some ribs. Yum! gingy, have fun and eat all of the food!

I slept terribly (surprise!), and I am just sitting at the table completely out of it. I used to be such a great morning person until I got pregnant.
MH has a cousin in town just for a couple days and I think we are meeting up with him at some point today. I wish I could drink mimosas by the pool all day.
