Low key Monday here. Circle Time started up again after a three week break so we did that and hit up the store. Ds was so cute when he saw his little friend Juliet walk in. He pointed and did a toddler surprise gasp.
Tomorrow dd has her weight check. I hope she's grown enough to satisfy the doctor! I'm seeing one of the chill doctors I like, not the alarmist new guy. My little brother and his gf (one of my bridesmaids) will be watching ds and then I'm taking them to the arboretum.

Hi! We are at the "vacation house" and watching way too much tv. I move dd last night to a darker room downstairs in a pack and play and she slept til 9:30, so that means team blackout curtains for lyfe! Roan had a poop explosion last night on his onesie and swaddle( we bottom half swaddle) so I threw it in the washer and put him to bed with no swaddle, cold turkey. He slept fine so I thought I'd just push drop it all together but he has been fighting sleep for about 30 minutes now so maybe he isn't ready to drop it for naps.
What've 3 companies coming out to give us ac quotes and will make a decision tonight and then pull the trigger. Being an adult is hard!

Lakes good luck with your weight check, I'm glad you are seeing a doctor you feel better about. Also isn't it great when your brother is with someone you like. My oldest brothers wife is more of a sister to me than a sil, I love it. ETA: I have 3 brothers and did not get lucky with all three.

We had a busy day coming back from the Cape yesterday, then we had a 5pm bbq at DHs godmother's house. DD had an absolute blast because she spent all weekend with boring grownups and B for company. She LIVES for being part of the older-kid cousin pack, so it was hard to tear her away to get on the road home. This meant for a late bedtime and zero energy to unpack from the weekend. I hope your weight check goes well Lakes! I know it's not really the same thing, but I've been worried that Bs weight gain is slowing too since we stopped feeding him in the motn. I did an official weight the other day by stepping on the scale with/without him and I feel like he might only be up 1lb since his 4 month checkup a month and a half ago. I know bf'd babies slow down in the 4-6 month range, but this threw me for a bit of a loop because he had been doing almost a lb a week (when we were feeding overnight). Anyhoo. All this to say eff weight-related anxiety.

I need blackout curtains so badly meeggaannw! In our old place I made roman shades with blackout lining for DDs bedroom. When we moved into our new place, I didn't have the time or energy or budget to get or craft new window treatments, so we have generic slat blinds (blah) that basically don't block any light. I feel like DD and B would sleep so much better (and go down earlier) if it wasn't so light in their room. ::sigh:: Someday...

Hiiiiiii! I'm home with no kids today!!!!! Almost worth having a cold to get a whole day off. I'm trying to get my house back to normal and start packing for our trip this weekend. Lakes good luck with the weight check! Did they tell you where they want her to be or will just evaluate based on how it goes?

Work has been busy today. E sttn for the 3night in a row. I don't know if it's a fluke or a pattern yet though. H has two hockey's games tonight so he won't be home until late which sucks.

Sorry for the cold carrots, but yay for a day home without the kids! Fx the sttn is starting to be a pattern peaseblossom55! Sorry about Hs hockey games. It always puts a damper on things when I know I'm going to have to solo parent for dinner & bedtime.

Is anyone doing "drowsy but awake"? How are you putting your LOs to bed?
FFMC: I still nurse B to sleep. I feel like at Bs 6 month appointment next week my pedi is going to chide me for it, so I have to start working on an alternative... Halp.

carrots a wait and see plan. I think she's up a pound so fx it's enough. Oh, and no spit up. I'm still rolling my eyes at that one. Especially since she just got me good an hour ago. ellabee I'm doing drowsy but awake. I nurse her but she doesn't totally fall asleep most nights. If she's getting real sleepy I pop her off so she doesn't use me a pacifier and fall asleep in the boob. Maybe try that once he starts to go? Some nights she goes down, others I have to go in once or twice and give her the pacifier. Speaking of which, is it crazy to be considering ditching the pacifier after the holiday weekend? Ds was done with his by this point (his choice) and it was kind of nice not having to deal with it when he was older. I really want to get rid of it but with two kids and having to divide my attention when they get upset it makes me nervous.

ellabee I'm nervous about dropping the motn feeding because of that too! I'll make a decision after tomorrow I guess. Dd is getting up 1-2 a night since we ditched the swaddle. I don't mind the extra feeding since she's so low on the charts but I definitely want to get it down to one for the next month if all goes well.

Ffmc: we still nurse to sleep and still swaddle.
I've tried drowsy but awake and swaddle-less, but not at the same time. Last night was the first bassinet transfer without a swaddle that succeeded. She slept for 30 mins.
C has absolutely no interest in being on her tummy. She has the muscles and can pick up her head very well and high, but will not stay that way very long and will not intentionally roll. She doesn't faceplant on her tummy anymore and turns her head to her side when she's had enough, so I'm not in too much of a hurry to stop the swaddle. I also sleep better with a sheet wrapped around me like a burrito, so i understand where she's coming from.
Drowsy but awake sometimes works, but rarely. When it works she's basically asleep, just pops her eyes open and goes right back to sleep.

We do drowsy but awake and separate the last bottle by at least 30-45 minutes before bed. For us eating to sleep caused more wake ups because he associated falling asleep with eating. Different things work for different people but that's what works for us and he typically sleeps 9-9 or 10-10. I know the bedtime is late but I fought him for weeks to try to get it earlier and it just made him fight sleeping longer.

+1 to what meeggaannw said about separating feeding and sleeping. I know I did that eventually with ds but I don't remember when.

Today is a Monday 😑
Q has his 5 month check-up tomorrow and I am excited to see the pedi.
+1 to feeding a bit before bedtime. Usually Q's last feed is at 730 ish and we put him down for 8. We do singing to sleep for the first 5 minutes then quite for the next 5 usually he is completely asleep by then and we transfer him to the bed.
We also dropped the swaddle cold turkey. Unfortunately I think he is going through a growth spurt because the last few night he has woken up hungry and fed twice each night.

ellabee we feed right before bed she usually falls asleep when she is done with the bottle otherwise we do drowsy but awake. Depending how tired or overtired she is will determine how long it takes to fall asleep. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
